1. It's such a shame that Spector don't seem to have the reputation they deserve. Quality instruments these, and I would fancy at this price, you won't get a better 5 string jazz. Good luck with the sale GASbass 😄
2.
I have a Jazz bass. I don't particularly like pink. I'm indifferent to the RHCP. And I don't need this. However......I tried one out today and it's now sitting in my guitar rack. Nice weight and a lovely playable neck. All it requires is a truss rod adjustment to get the action lower and maybe, some alternative strings and I'll be up and running.
Haha, good lad! It's only I'm not gigging at the minute and have no means to pay it off that I handed it back!!!
3. Apologies rhcp, shows I know nothing!!! I was always lead to believe that they operated that way, but I guess it would make send due to the common grounding that you would get some bleed from one to the other. I would assume it is less noticeable which both pickups than with them singled out, otherwise, besides looking nice, there would be no point!
4. No, each pickup has its own stacked knob, so you can select how much tone per pickup. For example you can have full tone one the bridge an no tone on the neck
5. I had a quick play on one of these at promenade music in morecambe this week (it's probably gone now!!) and it was very hard to hand it back. I've been playing my Musicman basses mostly for the last month or so, and have forgotten how nice a passive jazz can sound. The neck profile shouldn't be too much concern, I have tiny hands and was also concerned about it being slightly deeper, but felt easy to play. As Karl has said, the neck pickup with the tone off sounds KILLER!!!! My only criticism of the bass is the relic job. It is quite heavy, and a little too heavy for my taste. I'd rather it looked like someone had looked after it and loved it, but had just worn the paint off after decades of use. This looks like it's lost a fight with a pit bull, then been played in a punk rock band for a decade... I'd still have one though!!!
6. Oh jeez.... This is getting harder to ignore. An absolute steel!!
7. I hope this is gone before I come to check out your flea bass!!!!!
8.
DiMarzio Model 'J' is pretty much a 'straight' P pickup (i.e. two coils side by side in series). You could try that in the neck position - I'm sure someone on here would have one to sell you at a reasonable price. G.
I've had these and they are epic!!!
9.
This. Plus mine came with a Jazz neck.
Mine is great! I can't see why you wouldn't want something like this rather than just a p. I'd rather have the bridge j and have it turned off than no have it and want it!
10. Agree, these basses are amazing!!
11. Just picked up a Markbass head from Keith, was kind enough to travel some distance to save about an hours travel off the M4 and back. Great comma, and a true gent to deal with, but in confidence. Cheers Keith!
12. Haha, what ou gassing for??? MIM just about to close a deal on a Markbass tte500, as I want a tube preamp, but can't find a GK Fusion 550 anywhere... That's the dream rig!!! At least the tte has an analogue power stage 😄
13. Oh dear lol. I've come close to doing stuff like that in the past, I normally scorch one of the other wires while I'm not paying attention!! Sorry to see mate, must be annoying!
14. As you returning a fender flea bass?? What were your thoughts?
15. Wow. No other words!!
16. Sweet rig, as a fellow GK fan, I can vouch For the quality of their stuff. The power stages of these heads is immense, I have the 1001rb, and while my class D GK stuff can go as loud, it doesn't have the same punch and depth to the low end that these cast iron transformer beasts have. Well worth the extra (small amount) of effort required. I'd love a pair 112's 😄 GLWTS
17. That was quick!! Well done guys 😄
18. Sweet bass this, I have heard it in action. Unless it's non standard it will be 17mm string spacing
19. Agree, I've just seen the price of these!!! Definitely not at the top of my shopping list!!
20. I really like the look and sound if these new passive basses, although not so sure I would buy one personally. They have a lovely growl to them but sound like a cross between an active musicman bass and a passive fender bass. I have a stingray and a sterling for active sound, and a fender pj for when I want passive, I just don't know whether I would want/need something in between. Of course, if money was no object, I'd have one of these and and a cutlass in a heartbeat 😃
