To be honest, as long as you have something to hold the strings up and adjust the intonation, then the loose end can be attached to the body with fence staples Have a look at Crimson Guitars Nebula, the ball ends are hooked on little brass rods with a Gibson style saddle to adjust.
  2. Thank you sir. If you genuinely want one I'll make one. The postage will be so high it'll be cheaper to buy one yourself though.
  3. Not you obviously. You're extremely reputable and interested in the chaos from my workshop.
  4. Only because you were going on about it in the "other" thread. I certainly didn't invite your disreputable "friends".
  5. What it's for is to practice joinery and woodworkery. It became a box to put MDW's Christmas present in to give it a purpose. If that annoys you then you can take your "mates" and their thread derailment back to the DoI. Get orf my thread.
  6. I don't know, it would make an interesting garden feature. Two invisible water butts joined together, with the water seemingly hanging in mid air.
  7. Box of ash and mahogany. @Ricky 4000doesn't believe it exists.
  8. Does that say Air Guitar modifications?
  9. Not as such, but if you have the drawing then ask your local engineering firms, the smaller ones probably, if they will run some off on the CNC mill. You never know, one may say yes. Or they'll do you a laser cut one out of 5mm guage plate. For a colossal price 😉
  10. Strings sucessfully delivered to Wales.
  11. "Origin locates itself in a workspace and makes continuous real-time adjustments while the user is cutting. The result is precision — wherever you need it." What happens if you want to make a jazz bass? I'll get me coat.
  12. I've seen Laura Kampf use one of these and did wonder whether it self corrects if you wobble. It's an impressive bit of kit, and a very impressive result.
  13. IIRC, the Norrisole was a series of holes, descending in size, set into a carved recess in the shape of teardrop 'f' hole. He did it on the Nozcaster.
  14. Have you got any waterslide paper? You could play around with different colours of 'gold' on a sheet and try to see which one is best.
  15. In an emergency you can use them as plectrums. I've got enough of the bu$$ers, but can I find any at home?
  16. I'm afraid that my only advice is to try before you buy. We wandered around three furniture/office shops yesterday and only found one that we liked. The one that we would have chosen from the shop's website was horrible! Then they told us that we can't take it home, but have to wait until possibly February. Humph!
  17. Keine Problem, deine auch. Frohe Weihnachten
  18. Und unterweg nach Jim, or they will be on Monday.
  19. I'll take it, how much do you want for it and postage (to Germany)?
  20. Which book is it? Do you a swapsies on some strings?
  21. Nuffink, they've been in a drawer for years, I can't remember the last 4 sting I had. TBH I thought it was a 5 set that I'd used to get a spare out, but no.
  22. I've just found a brand new set of Roto 66's, 40-95 gauge, long scale. Brand new and never fitted. If you want them, shout before sunday evening and they can go in the parcel of christmas cards we're sending to Blighty. They *may* get lost in the post, the last parcel of cards we sent are currently AWOL
  23. Told you, the Doyen of Build Diaries.
  24. This is the Christmas present. Ash, oak and mahogany. Better, but still not perfect finishing. Again, the mechanics and the design I like, and if (when) I make another it will be broadly the same but with some detail and process changes. I thought of better ways to make it as I was going along.
  25. A tablet stand, or picture stand if they so wish, for my parents. Softwood, oak and mahogany. We talk to them over Skype every week and for some reason known best to my dad he insists on having his iPad in portrait orientation, so the stand at the back can't be used, They prop it up on a book. This started out life as the prototype for my sister's Christmas present. It showed me how not to to do it . I couldn't think of anything sensible to make out of two wooden triangles so bashed this together. The finish isn't great, the chip outs are quite ugly in places, but it works and as a design/functional mechanics I like it.
