  1. My dad found this when they moved house in 2019. It was his dad's, but he's never used it and has no use for it. So after a bit of faff with customs and import duties, it arrived with me.
  2. The customer is always right. Especially when they are asking the impossible.

Just for The Spondz, here you go you perv. About 21 minutes is where you need the tissue box handy.
  5. I don't like relicing particularly, if I play it and the paint rubs off then so be it, but I don't see the point of buying it pre rubbed off. It's like shabby chic, which as far as I can tell is a term invented by people who can't paint a chest of drawers properly. 😉 On the other hand, I do like stuff made out of reclaimed timber. Some of the marks and figuring can be amazing. Some of the things I have made out of pallet wood have some really nice texture.
  6. I was considering Barncaster to be a catch all for a guitar that was made out of reclaimed wood that emphasised shakes, nail holes, woodworm etc and accessorised by rusty control plates.
  7. I think that's called a barncaster. <thread.derail> Steampunk is faux victoriana. Originally coined, as far as I know, when people started writing alternative history, if Babbage had got the difference engine working for example and the Victorians had developed computers. Modern tech in a victorian style ornate, or at least well constructed housing. My favourite Steampunk novel is The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. </thread.derail>
  8. If he doesn't, then pop a B string on it and I'll take it off you. Swap for two packs of jaffa cakes?
  9. Rather than follow every post in Build Diaries i tried the follow option at the bottom of the page. Nothing happened, is it not possible to get notification updates for a sub-forum?
  10. One of these? It's round.....
  11. I'd use a forstner bit over a paddle bit. They're the ones that have a flat circle at the end Unless the hole already exists, in which case a step drill as they are more self centering than either of the two mentioned above.
  12. How we suffer for our art 🤣
  13. That's a very 'V' shaped scoop.
  14. If I've read the Bartolini website correctly, and yes, I'm aware we're talking about a different brand, their Quad Coils will do just that. However, you need "special wiring" to make them do 1&4, which doesn't seem to be available!
  15. I suppose if you have a four way switch then you have to remember which notch is the sound you like, especially with more than one of them. An extra off switch means than set and forget? Though how many people are mad enough to have three of them?
  16. Is The Chiseled Band the sequel to The Speckled Band by A.C. Doyle?
  17. Can you still get black mirror scratchplates? That would be epic.
  18. Massive round hole in the middle covered by a round scratchplate?
  19. What are you going to end up with, a solid body bass in the shape of your ukuleles, or a larger version of them with bowl, sound board and standard bass hardware fitted?
  20. In that case, I'm in for this year. Let's see if I remember that this time around.
  21. No, you need a long cable between the amp and tuner in case you sit down on the other side of the room to the amp and need to adjust tuning.
  22. It's not clear in the rules, so I'm assuming that they're not allowed, but can I buy the bits to finish my bass I'm building? Namely tuners, nut and possibly pickups?
  23. The pencil line shape is a bit like Jabba's builds. Or maybe just in my imagination!
  24. With a stick on tort scratchplate?
