1. Another vote for ACG the filter works amazing with fretless. How much are the pickups setting you back? I am working on a similar project just now.
2. I love Matte black. I had my ACG built with a matte finish: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/289/
3. I have one of these and its great. It is effectively the same controls as a Zvex Fuzz Factory.
4. For sale is my EBS cab. It has served me well but time to go. As you can see the cab has been used but not abused. It's pretty light for a 410 and it has a good high end sizzle. I am after £250 collected from Notts or I can deliver within a reasonable distance for a bit of cash. Frequency Response 55-18 kHz Sensitivity 99 dB Power Rating 500 W RMS Impedance 4 ohms Volume 125 liters Height 68 cm (75 cm with casters) / 27" (30") Width 64 cm / 25" Depth 41 cm / 16" Weight 34 kg / 76 lbs.
5. Here is my bands new video. I used my 7 string ACG to record the track and it has some slap and tapping in it. Let me know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qsv2cApSGLA
6. Here is my bands first video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qsv2cApSGLA
7. I use this book. I try to use it as my warm up for practice. a different page of exercises everyday for half an hour. I apply the exercises to different techniques. I also use them to warm up before I play a gig.
8. Welcome to Basschat always good to have another lefty. Check out the lefty bass for sale thread.

10. Any one interested in a 6 string fretless schecter for cheap?
11. We havnt done one in ages. possibly time to get the discussion going again.
12. This is Awesome. I have just bought the Drum and bass EP. Very interesting.
13. The guy in Borknagar plays an 8 string fretless which is pretty crazy. I think he is only on the album Universal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_8hdYfcAfw&feature=related
14. Linearsphere are interesting. I will check them out properly.
15.
I saw the title of this and rushed to post an Obscura song. Damn you!
I love Obscura Pestilence I liked liess.
16. I am getting a new fretless made by Letts and have been listening to some of my favourite metal songs with fretless bass. Here are some of my favourites: Obscura Death Individual thought patterns I also love Cynic, Augury and Borknagar anyone else into fretless in metal? Any other recommendations?
17. One of my Favourite basses ever is my 5 string Fortress MM. It is the perfect bass for Death metal. I am always looking out for another but being a lefty its hard.
18. I approve of that mock up 100%. Interesting to see what your going to come up with for the design Jay.
19. Bargain! if it was a lefty i would be tempted. have a bump on me.
20.
Fair enough. I have a lot of fretless basses - in my last band it was pretty much all I played and the ACG pre-amp was far more useful in getting me my sound than any pickup combination on its own. Other than that my favourite pickup for a fretless bass is the Lightwave optical system, but that's probably far too technical for you!
Having played a few of BRX's basses and having a bass with an ACG preamp; i can confirm this man knows what he is talking about 100%.
21. i would love to here from 9 string players about techniques, possible songs and see more examples rather than "thats not a bass" "yes it is" I mean who cares what it is classified as.
22. I think its a shame as the discussion has become about what a 9 string is rather than a discussion about 9 strings. which is what i think the OP was after. It is the same in pretty much all threads about ERBs and i think it puts people off posting who do play one. For example try and find a thread about an ERB where someone dosnt say the f/board is like an ironing board. Here is an interesting clip of a guy playing a basslab bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUc2lGRXm7Q&feature=fvwrel
