Check this out... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220301716316 He says he paid over £1k for it, ouch ! and if you look at this http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...mbo~ID~8592.asp He's going to be very disappointed.
his being uk built would last longer than a evo111 though!
These Klystron or Classic cabs have neo speakers and seem to me to be considerably lighter. I've already got a 1x15 and it sounds great. As soon as I've raised the dosh, I'll be swapping my ABM410 cab for a Neo 4x10.
i was thinking of doing that if i had the cash!do you play through the abm cab with the neo1x15?
The 500 head looks nice, but the 1000 looks too big IMO. And I'm not a big fan on the styling of the new cabs. The combos do look very very nice though
nearly bought a 2x10 klystron combo but could'nt quite raise enough dosh at the time, they do look v good and sound superb just a tad exspensive.
TBH I'd rather have the UK-built ABM EVO II than the new Klystron or EVO III heads.
i've got a uk built evo11 but theres just something about the look of a klystron amp and the cabs, imo of course!
I emailed Ashdown about this and apparently they will be making the valve head in the UK aswell for Europe! , the US made stuff is just for those crazy 'I only buy things made by Americans' yankees to help Ashdown in the states. I also mentioned the panel pics look wrong and they admitted the right ones werent up yet and the ABM panels are up in the meantime.
wonder if they are gonna stop making the klystron range?hope not as i would buy those instead of the valve head and the usa cabs !
-
Well yeah - but then again I don't really get why they've started making valve amps in the US anyway tbh. I always saw Ashdown as a company that had quite a strong British image.
+1 on that!as i posted before why could'nt they have made them in uk?bet the guys are not very happy about losing more work overseas!
-
if they were made in china they would cost half that!not as good qc though(imho!.)
-
dont now why they could'nt make them over here if thats the price of them!unless they want to stop manufacture in the uk?
-
they are not available in the uk at this time,so ashdown tell me,but dont now when as they didnt say,so can start saving some dosh until they are or just buy a uk klystron!
-
the spec is from the 500w evo111,so they have not got that right, bet it sounds good though and yes it will be expensive if its made in usa.wonder why they cant make it over here like the klystron range?bit dissapointed with the look of it,just black with a little white piping, what happened to the ashdown blue?cabs from the usa as well.
-
was it new when you bought it?it might pay to email ashdown and tell them the problem.they can be very helpful and sort something out for you.
One of these for instance: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=9341 Check out that colour too, superb bass.
+1 on the colour, suppose youve got to spend £200+ to get anything decent.was hoping less than that though.2nd hand i suppose would be ok.

what is the best value for money precision copy?so many around and alot of c@@p out there but must be one or two worth the money!
-
if you want a 4x10 there were a couple for sale on here a few weeks ago.they were the abm cabs though not the mag.IMO the abm 4x10 is a very good cab and would sound nice with your trace head.
Me no understandee guitaree... However... My mate with whom I was in a band for 3 years had a Korean one in Islington Blue (like a sort of Sonic Blue or Daphne Blue) We spent ages trying various instruments, and 6 of these! They all seemed pretty similar. Fretwork was universally good, as was the finish. My friend was quite slight, and only had small hands. At no point did he struggle with either the weight or the neck profile. The Marquee he had was tonally like a thicker, smoother sounding Strat, and had really good sustain. I don't know what strings he used, D'Addario, I think- certainly nothing exotic. In 3 years of rehearsal and gigging, it didn't let him down once. Actually, nor did any of my basses! Shame I can't say that for my various amplifiers... Hope that helps a bit. Have a look at the reviews on Harmony Central?
thanks will look on there as well.
-
lets hope they are reliable and have sorted out their problems like their neighbours ashdown.got to be good for our economy two successful companys!
And I think Burns basses are made here, but other than those listed I'm pretty sure thats it, besides maybe a few lesser known builders.
i think burns are made in korea, are the rest actually made in uk ?

£260 for a 2x10 combo!either a bargain or a complete pile of c**p!you get what you pay for im afraid.
My saga with Peavey ended months ago and all I got back was a lousy refund from the place I bought it, no compo no replacement bass cos the ones they sent down were garbage. So all in all I got buggered about by Peavey and it looks like Andrenochrome is just starting the process with f***ing Peavey, all I can say is GOOD LUCK cos he'll need it they really do suck as a company!!!
lesson to us all here i think!cant understand a company like peavey to give c**p after sale service especially how things are at the moment.word only has to get round and they could lose thousands in lost sales so not a good move by them!need to take a leaf out of a british companys book me thinks!
-
hi anyone plays or has played a burns marquee guitar old or new?i like the nostalgic look of them but wondered if they play and sound ok?seen only a couple of reviews so any feedback welcome.i know the older ones were heavy and the new ones are made in korea, thats all i know. cheers.

Advice on what cab to get for the sound I'm after
bassmansky replied to colinmk's topic in Amps and Cabs
i had a svt 4x10he powered by a ashdown evo11 500w amp and thought it was quiet, this was confirmed when i got a abm 4x10 to go with the head.the abm was a lot louder but bearing in mind that cab was designed for that amp.anyway in my opinion the 4x10 he was a bit dissapointing on its own.if i had kept it i would have got the 2x10 to go with it as i dont think its a standalone cab. -
they are exspensive because they are made in the uk,but is that a bad thing?if you like the sound go for it,you might regret it if not!
-
i got a abm 2x10 to go with my 4x10 and sounds great can also just use one if need be,so i would stick with tens.
