There isn't a lot of difference in the sound or performance although the behringers seem to have more output , so require slightly less gain on the PA input.

Our singer uses an SM58 and the two on BVs use Behringer ultravoice CM8500s - (as used by Alice cooper & Ann Peebles according to the Behringer web site). They're about £16 (from dv247.com). We've been gigging ours for a few years and they haven't broken yet, even with a drummer doing BVs & ocassionally mistaking it for a cowbell. I bring an old 80s SM58 along to gigs just as a spare, but haven't needed it yet. [url="http://www.behringer.com/XM8500/index.cfm?lang=eng"]behringer XM8500[/url] - it comes with a nice case & stand clip as well.

You can't really tell much from the pic, but assuming the releif is OK I'd shim it to keep it high at the saddles, but low over the frets.

If its pre-slotted it'll be too wide. My 71 Musicmaster's nut is wider than the one on my jazz, but narrower than the ones on my precisions. A non-preslotted precision one should be OK though.

Impossible to tell much from those pics I can see it has reverse tuner though. It *looks like* a MIA '62 reissue, or maybe an early or later non-export Japanese one, but I wouldn't express too strong an opinion without seeing a pic of the serial no. and any markings that are exposed when the neck is taken off.

I've just looked at your site - lots of lovely stuff there. When I get paid for a web site I'm doing and if I can hide the money from the missus I will probably be asking you to get a CIJ Mustang Bass in California Blue - Are any mustang-specific cases available for these?

I'm certain I played that bass when New Kings Road Emporium were in Denmark Street - That was probably about 5 years ago. I know its the same one as its no 25 and belonged to Bob Daisley. Its a nice player but had roundwounds on when I tried it (which seemed a bit weird). Its possibly been through another pair of hands in the meantime or has been gathering dust in the shop.

A cheap combo or cab is more likely to be made from MDF rather than birch or poplar ply, so although it may sound as good as something twice the price and will be OK sitting in a bedroom all its life, it will be more likely to evenually disintegrate if gigged a lot.

I guess they might have a chance of selling a few to people that have never heard of the Little Mark II...

You can't be sure he's lying. Stuff does go missing in the post all the time. Does his feedback (received & left) indicate any history of doing this kind of thing? If Royal Mail pays up, I don't think it would be honest to keep the refund - If you pass it on then at least you can add a response to the feedback that a claim was made against the carrier who lost it and a full refund was issued. As the auction said pickup only I'd have either: a)Told him to **** off in the first place and got a free relisting as he wasn't willing to comply with the terms of the sale. or b)Insisted he paid extra for tracked delivery to protect you both.

He used a Fender Rhodes piano Bass.

I think I may have one of these from the 70s somewhere. Some one gave it to me thinking it was broken because it sounded so awful. I remember hearing its distinctive farrt sound when David J used one on a bauhaus song which surprised me at the time as it meant either it was supposed to sound like that or his was broken too. Mine might be up in the loft or may have gone in the bin...
