1. I've just looked at your site - lots of lovely stuff there. When I get paid for a web site I'm doing and if I can hide the money from the missus I will probably be asking you to get a CIJ Mustang Bass in California Blue - Are any mustang-specific cases available for these?
2. As Joe Meek used to say "If it sounds right, it is right"
3.
Yours was the model with the built-in anvil, right?
It certainly felt like it was. It sounded great though.
4.
Missing yours eh? You could buy mine and still be 60 quid up
That would be very tempting if yours is half the weight that mine was.
5. Personally I'd steer clear & stump up the extra to get a harley benton 5 string fretless acoustic from thomann. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbb...ss_fretless.htm
6.
Like the Ox's FenderBird. Looks great.
Funny you should say that. I believe that bass was built as a prototype for a JE sig model and unfortunately the project expired when he did
7. I'm certain I played that bass when New Kings Road Emporium were in Denmark Street - That was probably about 5 years ago. I know its the same one as its no 25 and belonged to Bob Daisley. Its a nice player but had roundwounds on when I tried it (which seemed a bit weird). Its possibly been through another pair of hands in the meantime or has been gathering dust in the shop.
8. A cheap combo or cab is more likely to be made from MDF rather than birch or poplar ply, so although it may sound as good as something twice the price and will be OK sitting in a bedroom all its life, it will be more likely to evenually disintegrate if gigged a lot.
9. I'm surprise no ones bitten your hand off for this. I sold mine for £260 a couple of weeks ago and it was exactly the same model as this so someone will get a bargain at £200. I'm kind of missing mine a little bit .
10. I guess they might have a chance of selling a few to people that have never heard of the Little Mark II...
11. You can't be sure he's lying. Stuff does go missing in the post all the time. Does his feedback (received & left) indicate any history of doing this kind of thing? If Royal Mail pays up, I don't think it would be honest to keep the refund - If you pass it on then at least you can add a response to the feedback that a claim was made against the carrier who lost it and a full refund was issued. As the auction said pickup only I'd have either: a)Told him to **** off in the first place and got a free relisting as he wasn't willing to comply with the terms of the sale. or b)Insisted he paid extra for tracked delivery to protect you both.
12. He used a Fender Rhodes piano Bass.
13. I think I may have one of these from the 70s somewhere. Some one gave it to me thinking it was broken because it sounded so awful. I remember hearing its distinctive farrt sound when David J used one on a bauhaus song which surprised me at the time as it meant either it was supposed to sound like that or his was broken too. Mine might be up in the loft or may have gone in the bin...
14. Why did you have to post that link? I had decided (and told the missus) I wasn't going to buy any basses this year and now I've just seen this: http://www.musik-produktiv.co.uk/tacoma-olympia-ob3ce.aspx Must resist
15.
I think they may well be the highway series? Otherwise your not wrong, whaty a great deal!
Definitely not with maple fingerboards.
16. As far as I know this book is out of print and isn't in stock anywhere at the moment, so if you want it, it would be a good idea to snap this one up. I've had my copy for ages - It gives a great insight into Duck's playing.
17. If you start with everything flat,as suggested above, experiment with boosting the mids a bit first - this should add some definition.
18.
If you're putting a bass in the luggage, should you slacken off (i.e. de-tune) the strings?
No - as the truss rod would then be pulling the neck into a backbow.
19. Cons The single coil pickup doesn't have the same oomph as a split Precision Pickup The pickup is not humbucking, athough this shouldn't be a problem as long a the shielding is OK The slab body can dig into you if you have a bit of a gut The neck is a bit like a baseball bat (not necessarily a bad thing as some players prefer a chunky neck) Pros It looks great - This is obviously very important as it will inspire you to play it more if its difficult to walk past it without picking it up. Its best to try one if you can, if you can live with the chunky neck and slab body and you like the sound & playability, then its the right bass for you.
20. I bought some bits from Maplin & made my own power splitter cable to power just two pedals from a single 9v adaptor.
21. £200 would be taking advantage. I'd expect a mint '78 to go for at least £400 on ebay.

23. It'll work. It may not sound as good as one designed for bass as bass cabs are often ported to extend the low end and/or have a tweeter to extend the top end. I'm sure someone with more technical knowlege than I have could elaborate further.
24. I've had a couple of nice leather ones from Dangleberry Music They also have an ebay shop
