The handle was telescopic so the amp didn't look too much like one of these at the gig:

I use UPS via interparcel economy - Although its not sold as a 24hr service, each time I've used them the package been safely delivered the next morning, even when I had it picked up at 5pm. Its a paperless internet-booked service, but the UPS man is always happy to sign a second copy of the label for me to keep as a receipt when picking up.

I use guitar rig session i/o. It's really simple to set up & there's an input for the bass/guitar on the i/o & outputs on the back which go to the hifi amp. This can be bought for £79 from a few places. When I got it, there was a promotion for a free upgrade to the full guitar rig, but this isn't needed for bass as the bass amp model is included with the bundled cut-down version. I usually play along woth tracks from iTunes, so it should work with other software as well.

That story sound like a load of bovine excrement. The Shop probably doesn't have a deal with FMIC, so can't get any Fenders so is are pushing what they do have. I doubt those instruments are made in Japan.

Home Delivery network seem to give the impression that they employ drivers under some kind of scheme to integrate people with no common sense into the community. I've had stuff lost they they say they have delivered where it looks like it was tossed over a fence & visible from the street, & another which was delivered into the recycle bin on a Wednesday night when the bins were collected on a Thursday. Hope you get this sorted.

Weird! It looks from the manual that it has Volume, Pickup Pan, an LED & an active passive switch, but no eq control. I thought more control of eq was the main point of an active unit - that's why I have an East J-Retro in my jazz.

I don't see the problem. I assume you have other basses, so aren't stuck for something to play. Put the money in a separate interest earning "bass fund" account, so it doesn't get frittered away & wait until something special comes along. On the other hand, I know exactly what I want (a mint(ish) condition daphne blue 1966 mustang bass) but don't have any money to spare even I did find one for sale. How about we trade problems?

I've just sold my White Epi T-bird to get a Pro instead, but I've ordered the 5 String natural oil one, so the trans black 4 string wouldn't have interested me.

If there isn't a metal plate & screws holding the neck on, it means that the whole instrument is made from one single piece of wood.

Before I got back into playing bass many years ago, I had drifted into naff DJing & Karaoking. (Its a long story & not my fault, so don't judge me ) Once I turned up to do a Karaoke show & due to lack of space, total darkness & rain outside I had to wait for a band to finish & clear the stage area before I could start unloading my boxes & start setting up. It was very embarrassing to discover I'd left the case containing all the karaoke CD-Gs at home - a 40min round trip away. Oh well my heart wasn't in it anyway.

Hacking at something with a chisel and hammer makes it a rare custom instument.

Mine cost £50 secondhand from Andertons & I'm sure I got £80 when I flogged it via gumtree. I don't think I even kept it for a year - I could never get a sound from it I'd actually use & my bandmates always rolled their eyes when I plugged it in. I don't miss it, but I do kick myself every time I see one sell in eBay. I also had an original coloursound tonebender. No idea what happened to it - I think I gave it away.

I'm sure warmoth will make one with unlined maple board. It'll be heavy and expensive though
