I went in making it clear I was looking to spend almost a grand on gear that they had in stock - yet the salesperson (not Mark) was very disinterested - bordering on rude at one point. I was looking for a vintage Precision recently - and I decided not to use Bass Direct so that one experience has potentially led to them missing out on £2k of sales. I had some excellent service at the Gallery - Charlie was friendly, helpful, let me play anything I wanted (including a 50s P I said I couldn't afford!) and Martin came out and was also very helpful.

    Thanks for your help all. I used ups via Interparcel. Got a good price, the bass was picked up the next day from Essex and delivered the very next day to Falkirk! Very impressed!

    I think you've got width and height round the wrong way but I don't know if it matters.     PMs replied, still available. Comes with straplocks, the excellent fitted fender hardcase very similar to this http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/cases/abs-molded-precision-bassjazz-bass-case-black/ Weight is 10.4 lbs according to my bathroom digital scales.

[/color] [color=#1D2129]These are seriously well made instruments. Beautiful player currently strung with premium Elixir strings. I have had a ramp professionally made and fitted by Mike Walsh of Iceni Zoot but this is removable. Comes with the Fender hard case which you could drive a tank over. £950 firm - might consider vintage Fender precisions as trades.[/color] [color=#1D2129]I've owned it since new, and I've looked after it. There is some chipping of the finish around the jack area - I've photographed it, please check below. These were not in production long so they come up very rarely. I spent years finding this one! [/size][/font][/color][/font] [font=inherit][color=#000000][font=verdana,geneva,sans-serif][size=4]Passive fully humbucking quad coil pickups (!) designed by Bartolini with Jeff Berlin just for this bass. The bass is really nicely balanced, and weighs 8.5lbs. [/size][/font][/color][/font] [color=#000000]Sound is great - if you love the punchy jaco sound, it's there. If you want a precision thump, it's there. With both pickups on it sits in the mix beautifully. The controls are Vol/blend/tone and the volume control has been optimised not to filter out high frequencies at low volumes.     Yeah, I bought a Korg SV1 from them, plus larger music tech orders and they've been pretty good in general. Some weird attitude from the guys there though.

    I know what you mean about Music Shops, I've had similar experiences, but I've also had very positive ones (namely Wunjo Bass in Denmark St, London and Bass Gear). Had a less than positive experience at Bass Direct this year thats put me off dealing with them. Positive customer service is so important, the guys at Wunjo have really nailed it.

    I've used a mono M80 for years - it is built like a tank, looks like new after many gigs and provides lots of protection. I recently added the double Mono M80 too and that's great too (if slightly heavy but 2 basses are always going to be heavy!). I also recently bought the SKB Bass safe, a hard bass case into which you put your bass in its gig back (a mono M80 just fits) which provides LOADS of protection - I'm going to check it on a plane. If you get an SKB Bass safe try to get the later ones with the strap and lock rather than the flight case locks as these were prone to coming open.

    Still absolutely loving my 1966 style P/J with jazz neck. Sounds terrific in the ELO theatre show I'm doing. Very tempted to order another!

    While iReal Pro is a fantastic tool for practicing, it won't do any of the stuff you need!
