1. The nice Elrick Gold Evo I saw on Ebay A Lehle Basswitch DI Oh sigh !!!
2. So... After getting my (filthy ?!) hands on the BaseX, it struck me exactly why I liked my old Elrick NJS so much. The nice vibration and feedback of the whole instrument. Don't get me wrong... I love my Dolphin very very much, but it is indeed a c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y different take on the bass guitar feeling, than the BaseX. In short: a bad case of GAS... I am not too sure I will part with my Doplhin, however I would really really like a fretted instrument with that resonant feeling to it. I have my eye on an Elrick Gold Evo, but a £1600-£1700 price tag is a bit scary. Especially as it will mostly serve as a second instrument in most respects. Also the 35" scale isn't really appealing to me... Not because of the playing (my old NJS is amongst the easiest playing basses, regardless of scale)... But because of the more limited string selections. Should I buy the Elrick, I would somehow feel that I would have to let the Dolphin go to justify the money spent... And as stated... Not sure I am prepared to go there. Now, I have somewhat of a wildcard on my hands... A Pedulla Rapture J5. This one is located not too far from where I live, so I will have the chance to actually play it before laying down the dough. It is not exactly in the neighbourhood though, so some determination is required. However, this one is slightly cheaper allowing me to (possibly) hang on to the Dolphin . ... So dear GAS & bass experts. Anyone tried both Elrick Gold's and Pedulla Raptures for a comparison ?. Any other alternatives I should consider ?. Regards. Torben
3. I have been soooooooo tempted by the dingwalls more than a few times. The only one thing that keeps me reluctant, is the scale length on the low B. What kind of string options do you have for that scale ?. This is, BTW, also the one thing that I find irritating about 35" basses... //Torben
4. Don't know the diff. But that one looks sweet... If you don't take it, I will certainly be interested . Fair price... Depends on condition. Not sure the market for fretless instruments is that hot, so it might go 'cheap' ?!...
5. Indeed... No harm in having two fretless basses either, I reckon. Worth a thought a few salary payments from now
6. So... Recieved my next 5 str. fretless just an hour ago. Can't wait to take it home from work . Thanks for the comments guys !. Appreciated
7. Seems I got lucky on Ebay after all... One Human base BaseX 5 Str. should arrive in Copenhagen today or tomorrow
8. Lusting for this thing second time around... Maybe third time will indeed be the charm
9. Thanks alot Pete... I somehow looked on active ads only. -Have a few options at the moment to consider, which is very nice !... But to multiply my choices some: Anybody got practical experience with defretting and epoxy'ing the fretboard ?.
10.
There is a Yamaha TRB5P with an unmarked ebony board on eBay at the moment, which has been up a few times but attracted no bids.
Can't find it
11. The pentabuzz looks kind of cool... Body looks like it's pretty big though ?!. A fretless Dolphin 5 broadneck would be a dream come true. But I have yet to see one for sale...... Anywhere.
12. So... Recently moved my fretless Thumb BO Broadneck 5, as I could not really get on with the ergonomics of the thing... Leaving me only with my Dolphin Pro 1 5 Broadneck (Which after a bit of 'acquaintance' grew so much on me, that I love it to bits now ). I kind of thought I could and would be without a fretless alternative for some time, but I find myself GAS'ing for a fretless fiver still. In this country, however, the selection of bass guitars (particularly fretless ones) is somewhat limited, so even though I prefer inspecting the goods before buying, I will likely have to buy the guitar from the for sale forum here, or some other place online... I have only owned two fretless basses until now, my Stambaugh 6 (wish I never moved that one !!) and myThumb BO... I am very much in doubt as to what to aim for. Hence I am looking for some pointers from the forum... Initial criterias are: 34" scale (mainly due to the sometimes limited availability of strings suiting >34" basses) 19-20 mm. string spacing at bridge Narrow nut width (my Dolphin has a quite narrow nut... Very addictive !) Preferably neck-through construction. However a very good set-neck or bolt-on might do the trick. Sound-wise I am not really after a double-bass replica... Seeking more of a modern sound, with good snap and nice sustain. Will likely end up putting round wounds or tape wounds on it, so a nice good/hard quality fretboard would be perfect. It doesn't have to be cheap as such, but admittedly I do have trouble spending much more than £1500 on something I have never touched . Any pointers from fretless players, as to what to look for will be greatly appreciated !... Regards. Torben
13. I like it !... Normally not really into beheaded basses, but it somehow works for this one
14. I'm stunned !! - I loooove my Dolphin to bits, but that looks just F**** amazing !!
15. Just sold my Thumb Broadneck fretless 5 to Jim, and it arrived at his place today. Smooth fast transaction, and good communication through the whole process. A true pleasure to deal with, and will happily deal with this guy again sometime. And never mind all the questions regarding the state of he bass Jim. You are clearly a man who takes he condition of your instruments very seriously, which I would only consider a good thing !. Hope it will suit you well, even without the fretlines. Regards. Torben
16. Wow... I remember playing Celinders custom basses back in the days, before he started exporting. Fantastic instruments !!!
17. OMG... Please tell me that the string spacing is not 19 mm. !.
18. No sound clips at hand, I'm afraid... I will try recording something with my basic soundcard soon .
19. Well, still have it - But a bit reluctant on wether or not to part with it
20. Yep, great bass... Mine has Barts too - Very characteristic sound
21. (Likely) the last bump for this one, this time around .
22. Oh christ... Sorry about that. Thought I wrote it in a dedicated field when editing the ad... Fixing right away... ! -Well, I didn't check first when editing, but it seems that even if you write a price in the dedicated field it doesn't show. Once again sorry for my c*#kup Pictures should be on the link... ??
23. Hang on... Looks like the insurance for this option is only around 450 GBP (GLS). By Danish Post it would be DKK 690...
