1. The VJ fretless is indeed passive...Guess for £700 I cannot go completely wrong with it. Thanks for the comments guys .
2. Thanks for clearing that up ... A nice intrument nevertheless, sound is very very deep & full - even without an amp it's quite loud !.
3. Again... Keep being on/off shifting it. Christ I'm soft... !
4. Could be a pre-jazz update. Not really very much into the whole Celinder history though .
5. Ok, decided that it needs to go. Still like my Elrick better...
6. Thanks buddy, we will see if anyone else thinks so too . As always, I'm not really much of a photographer, and the surroundings are not some exotic cloth, but merely my livingroom. Tried some with/without flash, but it's kindda hard to catch the real'glow' of the woods/paintjob.
7. Here you go: http://s862.photobucket.com/albums/ab189/TorbenH/Bass%20Guitars/Celinder/
8. In my search for a simple (as in not too many knobs & max 5 strings) fretless to replace my Stambaugh, I stumbled upon a Modulus VJ. I have never held a Modulus, but heard good things about them... Anyone here ever owned/tried one ?, and what's the general opinion ?. Thing is, that if I buy it I will probably do so without seeing it in the flesh, so I would like to have some confidence that I'm not entirely off. I REALY enjoy the playability/neck/weight of my Elrick NJS gold, and if I could find one I would buy an Elrick fretless without even blinking... But besides being more expensive, the Elrick fretless basses seem to be very rare... If anyone had been trying enough bass guitars, to compare the Elrick NJS neck/contour with the Modulus, that would be RELLY nice... But I guess there is little chance of that happening
9. Heh... Won't have time to do pics until tomorrow night, so patience is required .
10. Bought this as I always wanted to own a jazz, and/or a Celinder... This one plays and sounds really really nice, but my Elrick seems to be the one bass for me. Approx. 10 years of age, classic sunburst colour. Been gigged alot, and it shows... But in a good way I think: Very Minor scratching on the back, and one ding on the headstock. Otherwise only slight discolouration from age. It has been well looked after, despite being used pretty much every single day. Could benefit from a fresh set of strings though... Interesting trades would also be considered. Pics are not great, but if you want any more, just ask... As for trades, wide string spacing is preferred, and no more than 5 strings (Alreasy have a 5 and a 6... Maybe a fourstringer ?)... If someone has an Elrick (fretless ?), that would be pretty much spot on (as I seem to bond exceptionally well with my NJS...). Might also be interested in MB Walkabout scout/AER type combo... As for packing & shipping the bass seems to fit my TKL flightcase, so should not be a problem... Had a few inquires regarding woods... Body=alder Neck=Hard maple Fretboard... Hm, I thought rosewood, but maybe not. Need a pointer here I guess. Pickups: Celinder Preamp = Greengrove Scale 35" String spacing at bridge is adjustable... At present set to 20 mm. And ofcourse, if you have genuine interest in this, and wan't additional photos/closeups of something just ask .
11. ... Or something a bit more simple, but in the same category... Would not mind a 4/5 fretless . Possibly single p.u.
12. So... Don't know how relevant this is, since it will likely have to be shipped. But here goes : EBS NeoGorm 115, great condition (some scuffing on the plastic corners). No casters.Perfect working order and no tearing or anything. EBS Neoline 115 extension cabinet, perfect condition with cover. Looking for £950 for the lot. Tradewise I am looking for a Mesa boogie walkabout 12" (and preferably the MB Extesion cabinet as well), or something similar sized quality gear. And now for the hard part... Shipping this will likely cost real money. However, I would wrap & pack as appropriate if interest. Ps. For those who reckon that 15" is all bottom end, I dare you to reconsider after hearing this rig. Only reason I'm selling it is to save that tiny bit of weight/bulk, as I now play in two bands and need to move it around twice a week.
13. Maybe something like a Warwick (Broad neck ?), Elrick or other fine basses with a wide string spacing ... With cash adjustments +-.
14. Oh my... Oh my god !!! **Drooling !. Only a bit out of my present price range. However, I could cancel the holiday plans and explain to the family the importance of owning one of these
15. Best gig bag I ever had was the Tribal Planet 'top of the line'... Anyone knows if they still exist at all ?, I would really really like another one .
16. Keep regretting putting this up here, and then doing it anyway. Looks really really nice on it's stand in the livingroom, but I really seldom use it. -Tempt me with a trade...
17.
always wanted one of them old TB or kramer ally necked thingys, bass or guitar, don't mind. Never got one when they were cheap in the 90s though, and now they're all vintage and collectable and expensive
Yep, this one is about £600...
18. An old one too... http://www.vintageguitarandbass.com/adDetails/328
19. Heh, actually it's a Kramer DMZ according to the classified ad. Old & scratched too. Did not want to link to the ad, as I don't want to be accused of knowing the seller .
20. From time to time I stumble upon some strange creatures... Even in this part of the planet. -Don't know what to think of it really... Quite stunned !!
21. Quite a nice price... Saw a fretted version a while (in DK)... Seller wantin' £1000 more :s.
22. Well, ok... Maybe it's more daylight really than sunlight. And perhaps I should be more worried about humidity-related issues than the figured wood fading... A pointer or two would still be appreciated though, as us people in the grey & rainy north are not really used to the effects of UV-radiation . ... In terms of cleaning, I am actually more worried about marks on the body (thumb resting above pickups etc.) than the fretboard...
23. It does indeed have Barts (which is not a bas thing IMHO)... Could just be an adjustment thing with the connection to the instrument. Feels like digging into a rock !. Price is around £1100 at the mo... Can't really figure out if it's a fair deal, or if I will lose alot of cash trying to shift it (in case it's not a keeper)...
24. I own an Elrick bass, which seems to be untreated wood (Maple top/ash back), what would be the best way to keep it in good shape ? (Cleaning/maintenance). Also, I am considering putting my basses on wall mounts... However, my livingroom is quite exposed to sunlight , and I am afraid this could affect the colour/grain of the wood in the instruments. Any thoughts ?. Cheers. Torben
25. Having tried it out today, my certainty is somewhat less confident. I really really like the thought of owning a Warwick, but seems that everytime I play one I'm less than impressed :/. This Dolphin for instance - Fairly good nick (for a '91)... A few minor scuffs, and the mandatory 'Thumb rest mark' over the neck pickup (can these be removed, by the way ?). Neck was actually allright, but there is something to them Warwicks... Every one I've tried out is like playing a chunk of granite. Very un-organic feel to them. Got that same feeling trying out the Ibanez prestige series which is considerably lighter than most Warwicks I've tried, so it's not a weight-thing. My Stambaugh and my Elrick are both much more responsive when playing... It's really hard to explain... I just feel a bit disconnected from the Warwick basses I tried. Maybe it's a string thing ?.
