1. Looks like a fine bass, but I am really after a 5 string only for trades .
2. Times are indeed tough !... Price drop...
3. Price drop... -For feedback: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/174374-feedback-for-torben-hedstroem/
4. Had roundwounds on my Stambaugh fretless for years. Very minor scuffing on the fingerboard - But it is HQ ebony. Would not want to play round on a rosewood/maple whatever fingerboard...
5. My completely biased spin... Had a Yamaha 6'er... Body a bit chunky for my liking, neck was thin, but not really 'fast'... Go figure. Was a Dream Theater spinnoff thingy. They likely differ. Tone was nice !. Tried a Ibanez SRxxxx model a few times. Very nice weight/nect (fast !). Sound was a bit thin though... Maybe a good amp will sort it. Warwick Thumb/Streamer 34" scale (I like !) low B is the best I've heard on a 5/6'er this scale. Had a Peavey Cirrus 6 (US). Best 'standard' 6'er I've played. Decent tone, neckwise middle of the road (not too thin/thick). Looks like a million $... Really nice build quality ! .
6. Badly disguised bump... Got me first feedback today . -http://basschat.co.uk/topic/174374-feedback-for-torben-hedstroem/
7.
Having a bass built by Chris at the moment. The quality of these instruments is fantastic, have a bump on me!
The attention to detail is truly stunning... I am sure you will have a kick ! . Based upon suggestion from this thread, I am actually thinking og having mine fretted & keep it .
8. Dropped 5 pages in 2 days... Nobody plays the bass anymore ?!
9. Keep noticing nice little details on this bass (even though I have had it for 5 years...). Even the wood inlays on the fretboard have different widths, for fret 3, 5, 7 etc.. Is that normal for lined fretless basses ?. Frets are marked with different size dots on the 'top' of the neck ofcourse, but don't recall having seen the actual inlays marking frets as well... ?
10. Partial trade for this one ? : http://basschat.co.uk/topic/171617-fender-p-bass-american-deluxe-us/ Don't know if it's particualarly light weight, but it plays real nice. Another string on it, and I would keep it .
11. Ok, might not be the thing then . Will consider 35" fivers as trade too...
12.
How about a trade for a gibson les paul 5 string? http://basschat.co.u...-bass-sunburst/
Thanks very much for the offer - But the Gibson is really not my kind of thing .
13.
Trade for a Roscoe SKB-3005 plus cash from your side?
Will consider it, but likely not .
14. I would really love to try one of these... Looks very cool with the fretwork, can't really imagine what it must me like to play it...
15. Heh, guess neither of us really know what we are getting in to ... The 17 mm. thing - I am mainly concerned about slap/pop techniques. Never actually tried 17 mm. spacing before AFAIK, but seems a tad tight in my mind...
16.
Torben ? Did U got my PM ?
I got it ... Still considering the Roscoe. Never ever tried one, but heear good things. The string spacing is a bit narrow for my taste though.
17.
Nice, thanks for putting the effort in to find out... I'll see if it's possibly cheaper to re-fret here in the UK. bump until then!
Most likely less hassle... I would, however, also consider it a fairly difficult task. The ebony on the fretboard is of real high quality it seems (it's pretty damn tough !, the sustain in this thing proves this as well).
18.
Would you be able to find out if the possibility of fretting it exists?
Here is Chris Stambaughs reply, upon my request (answered same day as I sent the mail... Nice after sale service !):
Hi Torben, It would be rather difficult, so the price may be unattractive. I would estimate that for the time involved it would run about $350. You may be able to find a local repair luthier that could do it more efficiently. thanks, Chris
19. That is one nice looking piece of hardware... Interested in something like this : http://basschat.co.uk/topic/171617-feeler-fender-p-bass-american-deluxe-us/
