1. Wow, I'd have taken your arm off if I hadn't just bought a barefaced cab for about the same amount! Beautiful bass. Paul
2. Looking to sell my Ashdown ABM410 cab. I'm selling as I've just received a new cab and won't be needing this one anymore. Cab has well gigged over the years and so has a few scuffs and tears in the tolex but is otherwise in full working condition. It's done me well over the 5 years or so that I've owned it. This is one of the older models so it has the old grill design which is the same as the current MAG series. (Logo in top left corner as opposed to in the centre) Cab is rated 600W @ 8ohms. I'm looking for around £100. I'm based in Montrose (NE of Scotland) and would ideally like it to be picked up or I can deliver/meet up within reasonable distance (50 miles or so). Alternatively, I could post if time was allowed for me to source the packing materials and arrange a courier etc. Not really looking for any trades but will always consider some weird and wonderful pedals and the likes. 3.
I for some reason rather like the idea of having question marks as a logo on my cabs!
Haha +1 That's exactly what I thought when I saw them! I'd have guessed that they were a new barefaced model as well with the grill cloth as they're pretty similar in appearance. Placement of the badge threw me though. I'll be sure to check these out and I look forward to the review. Paul
4. Good idea! Think something similar has been done before. I'll need to go through these tonight and check out some of the bands. I play in Late Landing and the link's in my signature! Paul
5.
I had the same issue when my Midgets were delivered but i had them sitting next to my desk taunting me! worth it though!
Yeah I think I did the right thing putting it in the car then! Haha! Paul
6.
But, at least you have it now and I'm sure it will have been worth the wait. My order date is 29/6/13 so I have a fair stretch ahead of me. Wanna trade places? :-)
Haha It's been about 17/18 weeks of waiting all in so I think I'll pass on the trading of places. It was absolute torture but yes, as you say, i'm sure it will be worth it! What did you order? Paul
7. My Super 12 just got delivered at my work! Initially I was very excited, now I've realised that I have to sit here for another 6 hours knowing that it's in my car and I can't use it yet! Paul
8. Ah well, not to worry. Cheers for the help! Paul
9. Ok so i've taken the pedal apart! It was a right pain in the ar*e getting the PCB out in one! But i managed. I've taken a couple of photos of the board. The first one is from the front and shows the switch that I'm looking to rotate. The second is from the back and it shows the solder joints. You can see the 6 pins of the switch (2 vertical lines of 3) just above and left of the I.C. Would it be ok to just de-solder these 6 pins, rotate the switch and then solder in the other way around? If that's the case I'd be willing to do it as I know I could handle that. My soldering skills are fine, it's just the electronics are a bit beyond me. If I have to reverse the polarity/connections of any of the other components to get the pedal working in the same way then I don't think i'll bother. I'm not sure how much you're gonna be able to tell me just from the photos either but if anyone could help me in any way it'd be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Paul
10.
Stop jumping around like an idiot.
Never! Cheers for all the responses though. Gonna have a look tonight and see what can be done!
11. I'm currently using the EHX Bass Big Muff and have been for a while now. I'm quite enjoying it but I've found that it doesn't cut through in a live situation very well unless the "Dry" mode is selected using the switch. The problem I have is that, due to the location/direction of the switch, I keep knocking it off this setting with my foot when I engage the pedal. My own fault, I know, and if I stopped jumping about like an idiot it would solve the problem. But instead, I was thinking about reversing the switch so that the "Dry" setting is at the top. I thought this would be a pretty easy job but judging by the things I've read online it seems that it's pretty difficult to make mods to the pedal due to the double sided PCB etc. I was just wondering if anyone knew how easy/difficult this was going to be and if it would be worth it. I've also attached a photo of the switch on the pedal to give an idea of what I mean. Cheers, Paul
12. I think it's more down to personal preference. If you did get a pedaltrain and put velcro on your pedals i'm sure they would still sit fine in your BCB-30 as it's moulded. I used the BCB-60 for about 3 years though and different pedals weren't a problem as you can cut the foam to suit. I also found the neatness of the power/patch cable routing to be very handy! Both are good, popular pedal boards and have their pros and cons! Paul
13. I bought a pedalboard from Dan. Really happy with the transaction! It arrived the next day exactly as described and well packed. Couldn't ask for anything more! Paul
14. Playing with the strings the wrong way round. That's a talent I've yet to master! Paul
15.
Every Vox I have ever played had such bad neck dive, it seemed more natural to play the thing vertically like an upside down upright....
Haha I'll maybe stay clear then! Cheers. Paul
16. Never played one before or even heard what they sound like but I've got to admit I think it looks lovely! EDIT: Also, I'm looking at the strap and wondering why it's attached to the headstock as opposed to the other strap pin. Are they neck heavy or is that likely to just be a personal preference of the seller? Paul
17.
using a pd7 phat hed, doesnt feed back normally, only when in the chain with the sansamp, so i may try putting it before the sansamp
I used to use a pd7 as well but it didn't play nice with some of my other pedals either. Just kept feeding back regardless of what i tried. Thought I was just doing something wrong but maybe not. Let me know if you manage to resolve it. Paul
18. Couldn't really comment on the recent prices as the last time I used them was over a year ago. But in terms of quality of pressing, printing and cases, they were the best ones we found, after getting samples sent out from a few different companies (although I can't remember off the top of my head if the others you mentioned were among those). I would recommend getting a few samples sent out from various companies as most will be happy to do so and decide which the best value for money. EDIT: Actually I think I do remember the jewel cases being a bit flimsy (we went for digipacks).
19. +1 for Disc Wizards! Used them a few times now and they're a very friendly, helpful and accommodating bunch. Paul
20. The Woody Allen film Midnight in Paris kind of makes fun of this idea. It's more focused towards writers & artists but the same mentality applies. People often wish they were born in an age they believe to be better but the truth is that very little would be different. It's quite a fun film. Paul
21.
How long have you been waiting so far? I ask because I still not to sort some finances around
I ordered a S12 in the last week of february (11-12 weeks ago?) and received an email last week asking for the rest of the payment as the cab was nearly ready. So if all goes well it will be about a 13 week wait all in. Paul
