1. I've just booked for the Glasgow gig! The way I look at it? It's just the cost of a couple of sets of decent bass strings, and I'm gonna get a great night of music which will inspire me - sounds like a decent deal to me?
2.
The label says "Tatra by Rosetti. Stradivarius model". It's just a nice, decent sounding starter bass.
3.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that when Jimmy Moon repaired the head box, he also installed side dot markers on Thr fingerboard edge - helps us non double bass players get to grips with where we're supposed to be on the neck. 4.
Here's pics showing the break repair - well out of the way of your fretting hand so it has no impact on the playability or sound of the instrument. 7. I had this up for sale a couple of months ago, but withdrew it from sale as I had the opportunity to do some recording with it. It's now just sitting at home and I'd prefer it to be used rather than bring a gorgeous piece of furniture. Here's the original sale listing again:
My double bass looks great in the corner of the room, but it's not getting used. So, I'm thinking, maybe there's someone out there who fancies learning to play one and always thought about taking the plunge? I bought this used for £400 and had it literally2a minutes when I knocked it over and snapped the head off it outside the bloke's house where I bought it! Aaagh! I took it straight to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow, and he put my mind af ease straight away. "Kev, it's a clean break, and to be honest, nearly all double basses get head repairs at some stage". The repair cost me £170 and the bass plays better as Jimmy (himself a double bassist) set it up. I've included pics of the break repair. It has absolutely no impact on the playability or sound. The bass has Non-steel core strings, do you can actually fret the notes and get a lovely deep "woomp" from the strings. For any electric bassist who's tried to play steel strung double basses will know what I'm talking about!! Steel strings = ouch!!!! Hahaha Anyhow, I'm based in Motherwell, and the price of £350 includes the padded gig bag. 8. The 1961 Custom Shop Jazz Bass was only available in Black or Olympic White in 2011 (and also this year), so the custom ordered "chocolate 3 tone sunburst" finish is a rather rare beast! http://products.fendercustomshop.com/products/search.php?partno=1502110880
9. Andy - I replied to your PM, hope to speak to you soon.
10. I contacted Jeff Krause at the Fender Custom Shop and he was kind enough to sende the original spec sheet for the bass. The colour was custom requested - "chocolate 3TSB" Here's a link to the sheet: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/1510090865/2ce8f659adf9bf2d65f714cb78a66985
11. The "footswitch" is merely the stomp button on the face of the unit. Both the "effect" and "distortion" buttons work fine.
12. I sold a shell pink Nordy VJ5 to a guy in Belgium. I sent it via Interparcel - have a look at their website for a sample quote matey www.Interparcel.com
13. Great pedal - 3 band EQ and footswitchable overdrive and DI unit in one! The battery cover on the bottom is gone - the locking latch broke on it (apparently it's a common problem with these units). I was using it powered by a standard 9v PSU, but I guess you could get a replacement cover off eBay? Anyhow, that's the reason for the super knock down price - £60 delivered to you in the UK. Here's some pics:

15. Goodness, another bass brother has departed. He'll be missed, but as someone already mentioned, we have some great memories of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-7QSMyz5rg&sns=em
16. Well, it's taking shape - and, I've gone for the "bent looking" pink finger rest!!!
17. Looks like we may have an interested buyer? Bass ready to be sent off so the buyer can give it a try out
