1. Screws etc - www.axesrus.co.uk - free delivery. I replaced the pre in a B Bass (Jack with headstock) with an Artec SE2-A which works perfectly apart from not hooking up to the active/passive switch in an obvious way - I'm sure there's a way. Other parts are pretty standard - the pups are EMG Selects or similar, so shouldn't be too much hassle. G.
2. Had a PM from Howard last night & my fretless neck should be with me soon!!! Pics when here. G.
3. Good-Oh!!!! Looks like I'll have to order a D - see http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216933-wanted-used-daddario-chrome-flat-d-string/page__pid__2230152#entry2230152 G.
4. Dark blue - right? G.
5. He's doing a fretless, unmarked ebony fingerboard for me, & I hope to have it pretty soon. Can't wait!!! G.
6. I'd guess that the neck is Fujigen, as many of the early Antoria/Ibanez basses had a similar truss rod cover, but they (usually) didn't have a plywood body like this, so it may well have been Matsimoku. G.
7. I have my music on the PC & it's linked into a Digitech Genesis 1 which I'm listening to via headphones. The music from the PC playes through te Genesis & I can play over it & hear myself on the headphones. Externally silent. The Genesis 1 is fairly cheap on Ebay - the Genesis 3 is a different animal - essentially a GNX 1 in a different case, but is more expensive & a lot heavier, however will do the same job. These units are set up to emulate guitar amps, but you'll find something there that works for you - try Black Face through American 4x10 Both units use AC In, AC Out wall warts so make sure you get the correct one with it if you fancy this solution. G.
8. Why not try CTRL - from the keyboard? Wait - forget it, that doesn't change the number of headings. Damn. G.
9. If it's a bolt-on neck n(I don't know?) then make sure the screws are as tight as sensible. G.
10. Just watched this on BBC4. It moved me to tears. What a spirit! G.
11. What's the EQ settings on your amp? G.
12. Dammit, now you tell us!!!! Why not wait a while & give it a chance? G.
13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 'buckers on the bass are the same size as on the guitar? If so: http://www.axesrus.c...bplastrings.htm If they are not concave to fit the top of the LP, you tape some fine sandpaper over the top of the LP with double sided tape, & rub the pup ring on it till it fits. G.
14. Scratchplate is very reminiscent of WESTBURY basses. That's not quite the same (actually you can see the screwholes where the pickguard has been cut away), but... G.
15. I suspect you'd get bigger bonus out of changing the pre-amp rather than the pickups. G.
16. The Low B is so much heavier, it carries a lot more energy than the top G, so it takes the mute longer to suppress it. Check your intonation with the mute, by the way, as sometimes a solid-ish mute can change the scale length (effectively). G.
17. I went to see a band in a pub not far from here a few months ago. It was the kind of place where you'd get about 200 folk into if you pushed them hard - think Tokyo Underground..... Anyway, the said band miked up the drums & put the bass drum up so high that every time the drummer hit it, my seat literally rose up. There were about 60 people in that night. Didn't stay long. It was painful. Quite a few others said the same. G.
18. Stick an MXR 80+ between the bass & the amp. G.
19.
If you want some basic advice then you could try this http://www.ultimate-...d.php?t=1591207 any questions and I'll try and answer them there.
Thanks for the link, Phil, I'll read it through. G.
20. Try it & see - just make sure they are not out-of-phase. (The old 9v battery trick....) G.
21. I put casters on my big cab by drilling all the way through & using bolts with big washers on the inside. Makes everyting tight & sealed - to make sure you could use silicon on everything before tightening. I'd do feet the same way. G.
22. Found this, but not much traffic since 2010!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.bassvi.org G.
23.
You should get something usable out of that if your just putting vox through it, BUT, watch your volume, that's not a hugely powerful vocal PA and if you have a thousand watt head and an 8 x 10 and the guitarist has a Marshall stack and neither of you know the volume knob goes both ways, your screwed. Yamaha are currently running a PA roadshow, don't know where the other dates are but you should be able to find them online, I went to the one at PMT Manchester, it was basic but I dragged my singer rhythm guitarist along and now he understands gain , so was well worth it just for that. If it's anywhere near you it would be a good place for you to start and it was free, Les
We're not a loud band. Roadshow sounds interesting - but do they know where Scotland is? Ahh yes they do - or did - it was in Glasgow on the 9th Sept. Missed it. Too bad, sounds like a good idea. G.
24.
Is there a mixer/desk that comes with it ?
Yes, Phonic MM1805X. And all leads.
