1.
Yes, it really is that bad! I don't really get the concept that I won't enjoy a type of music based on skin colour. That may be how music is marketed in certain 'territories', but it has no influence on what music I enjoy. Having said that I must admit that apart from the very odd exception I have no love for this particular genre. Still, this struck me as a particularly poor attempt. Even so, there is worse out there: Enjoy. EDIT: stay with it till the chorus, or you'll miss the best bits.
I have to say that, Honestly, that was truly dreadful!! G.
2.
Is this as bad...etc? Yes it is. It's a shame that music is so polarised in the US these days. KW is a mega star in Hip Hop and his intended audience is Black America, so it's no surprise that we wouldn't like it.
Sorry - if that's right we should never have 'got' Blues. G.
3. His Mammy once told him he could sing.......... G.
4.
I once arrived at a massive corporate function in Glasgow, Menzies Campbell and some royal bod were there (amongst other so called 'dignitaries') As we were sound checking, the event organiser, who was the person who'd found us on the internet, seen all our publicity material and actually made the booking herself came up to us and said in a long drawn out scots drawl.... "Is that awl yoooouuu doooo!?" ''that kaind of musac?" We played for 10 mins and were taken off. As an added bonus, the flight home was struck by lightning! I swear I saw the skeleton of the bloke in the seat in front of me...!!!
Aye. Welcome to Glasgow (Jimmy). G.
5.
I found .......... that I overtighten and that pulls on the brass insert thus ripping it out the neck.
I think you have supplied your own answer.
6. Try getting in touch with Jon Letts in Leicester - he has (had) a bloke who wound custom pickups for him. G.
7. For some modern blues, give Coco Montoya a listen. G.
8. I'd like to know what you are doing to the poor bass to make the neck work loose - I've never heard of it in 50 years of working with basses & guitars. G.
9. Anyone got a delivery date for the next batch yet? G.
10.
..........rather like drowning in warm chocolate, mmmm.
What a superb way of putting it - indeed....Glug glug.......... G.
11. Depends on the output of your bass. G.
12. Tip: Take off your grill & make sure all the screws under there are solid - I found every one took a bit of a turn to feel tight & 2 or 3 took a few! Tighten the horn too..... and the corner protectors..... and the back plate!! Otherwise, fine! G.
13. I have an Ashdown MAG400 British-built (redface) that hasn't missed a beat in the 8 years since I bought it used. Used old Peavey at Open Nights & they sounded great, but weighed a ton! G.
14. I had a Buffalo Hide strap made to my exact specs by these people: http://www.centaurdesign.co.uk/ Not cheap, but will still be here when I'm gone! G.
15. My NX2-212 was delivered about 12:30 today - all good. G.
16. Now passed through Stafford! G.
17. Really looking forward to trying this with my MiBass 550 - and my MAG400. G.
18. Just had an email this very second that my cab is about to be dispatched. G.
19. Some of these were Satellite & some were Hondo II - it depended where you bought it. Tha later ones were actually reasonable & some had DiMarzio pickups. If you've found a good one with a straight neck that hasn't necessitated the bridge being rebated into the body, and you like it, then hold on to it. Maybe Jon (Bassassin) might be able to tell us more? G.
20. Is it a bit like this? : ...except with a fretless, rosewood fingerboard.......... obviously!! G.
21. You'd think they'd be EB.s, wouldn't you? G.
22. I can still see it.... G.
23. I'm trying to put the original pre back into my Yammie TRB-5 (original model). It's made up of two boards connected by a 6 core ribbon cable. Now, I'm OK at basic stuff, but I ham-fistedly managed to rip the contacts of the ribbon out of the board, and, to be honest, fixing this is too fiddly for me and it's beyond my capabilities. Is there any kind samaritan out there with this kind of skill willing to put it back together for me? I'd be happy to award a financial incentive for the work done/Man's time etc. etc. Please PM me if you can help, and get a TRB-5 back to work. G.
