My experience with small venues is totally mixed. Some of the best gigs I've ever played have been on a tiny stage in a tiny corner with a completely rammed room .. where you litterally have a wall of faces right in your face! In that same pub during one of our breks on another night some punter stepped into the stage to speak to the drummer stepping on the lead plugged into my P .. snapping my pickguard .. but thankfully not damaging the wood .. and amazingly with out snapping the electrics! .. stuk a bit of duct tape on it and played for another 2 hours! I always take my lead out of my bass during breaks now.

Just ordered it from Dolphin (with the added bonus of being able to use paypal) for £37 plus £3.99 postage ... I would normally go down the cheap and cheerful route with a problem like this but it looks like a really pro bit of kit .. plus if you factor in durability, time and materials £37 is a bargain.

... The one night I let my stand in guy do a show and it costs me £50!! A couple of the venues we play in have awful stages .. I've been using a beer crate .. which has helped slightly, Fingers crossed this does the trick .

I should point out the person in the Santa suit is not in the band .. Just another p*sshead stage invader! Thankfully a well behaved one.

It took a few seconds to realise this wasn't actually me .. a few weeks ago I let one of our "fans / groupies" play for one tune as it was her birthday ... The nearest my band current band has got to this was one week I wore the same primal scream t as my drummer .. I noticed before getting out of my car and promptly swapped it. I did play in a band with a "uniform" for years though .. I quite liked it as it made picking what to wear at your gig far simpler.

In my current band we cart all our gear in two cars .. the small and feather weight laney cab is great (and plenty loud .. and great tonal range) BUT if I ever end up in another band with a roadie I'm gonna invest in somthing with lots of tens! The club I was in last week had a 410 classic ampeg cab .. I should have tried it with my terror but there was an svt2 pro hooked up and owned by the soundman .. I didn't want to be a hassle and the ampeg was pretty bitching.

Totally agree with you two, I've done a good 20 gigs with it now ... All covers gigs ranging from small functions to medium pubs and big nightclubs .. had nothing but compliments from my pretty hard to please band mates and zero issues (apart from the beer spillage nervousness). My solution for messy / stage invading gigs is to stick batteries in it and make sure my leads aren't tangled etc. If we are about to play rage or the prodigy and the crowd look a bit mental It's so light you can kick it to the back of the stage in a second and out of dangers way .. most nights I just stick it between the legs on my mic stand and don't worry. 4 aa batts last ages so no worrys whatsoever about it running out during a gig.

I think others have hit the nail on the head. I've made the same mistake in the past .. you set up your bass eq with a scooped mid at home because it sounds huge ... Then despite being loud on stage your sound is lost. You really have to eq the entire band in a live and loud situation. As a starter though cut the guitarists bass, boost your mids and all turn down a bit!

I had totally missed this thread ... Totally agree with Wayne though, had this amp almost a month and it is just fantastic. I still can't get over the tone of the thing. I thought I would be crying myself to sleep after selling my Ampeg V4B .. but I really don't miss it. (Esp. Not the weight of it). I'm keen to know what people have been using in the way of DI attenuation? I've not needed to DI it yet but would like to have the ability / flexibility to. Regarding the comments about it having 'one sound' I would say yes .. but It's 'your' sound I.e. the guitar and quality /style of playing you put in, is exactly what you get out.

I know from my profile pic, obviously I used to play with the neck shooting up .. but that was a couple of years ago now, .. I'd say that body weight would be a far greater factor than a slightly larger headstock.

I just weighed my American P and It's 9.4lbs As others have said the correct strap and posture makes a huge difference .. that said you don't want to end up built like a man from holding your bass up for hours at a time!

Detroit Rock City - Kiss ... A simple enough bass part but enjoyable, looking forward to playing it with the band + another 10 or so new tunes tomorrow.

There are a lot of liars in this thread!! Ha ha, I often think "you horrible, horrible people" after nailing a quality tune to a few golf claps then having the pub torn apart to the black eyed peas! It doesn't mean I don't appriciate the response .. and I still always have a great time ... I just think you are lying to yourself if a bit of you doesn't hate them deep down! :op

I think the zoom is 32bit? No idea what this means though .. I just use it through my amp.

I agree with the others ... just don't. In my last band we used to have a couple of filler tunes if there was a serious problem with the guitarists gear. Only once had to sing space cowboy .. just me and the drummer, the guitarist managed to get his back up guitar out and tuned just in time for the solo .. it almost looked planned. The singer also had a couple of acoustic crowd pleasing numbers he could do on his own if anything went wrong with the drums or bass .. only had to do this once when my old ampeg failed on me .. thankfully I had my back up head with me which I got up and running just in time for the build up at the end of "candy". Get your guitarist to tune up quicker and get your singer to fill the rest.
