1. ... It's got to be Black eyed peas "tonights gonna be a good night". It winds me up some nights you nail a bit of rush etc. Which gets little response ... Then you repeat the same four notes along with a sample and the crowd go wild! It leaves me hating the world! Ha ha
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM3f-pRidnU&feature=youtube_gdata_player ... Not the most challenging! It gets a bit of respect from pub punters though.
3. ... Sorry make that px4d. Looks like this is It's replacement http://www.korg.co.uk/products/effects/pandora_px5d/fx_px5d.asp I'd be pretty lost without mine, great little tool.
4. I use a little korg pxd4 the ability to shift the pitch of the aux in is a god send for the covers band I'm in as we play with a drop tuning and have a female singer so have shifted the key of a number of songs. It's a great little unit though, pretty cheap as well ... Sounds pretty good through a hifi also.
5. Any gig reviews on this yet? It's annoying there are so few clips on the internets only two more sleeps though.
6. Sounds like a great idea! I know this sounds obvious but take your own bass with you. Also take along the pedals you use .. or make sure they have what you use there. Finally (and this one sounds daft) ask if you can pick the cab up ... Take it for a stroll the length of the shop. With so many lightweight great sounding cabs I would stay away from anything you can't easily lift on your own.
7. It worked for me! Should have mine on Tuesday canny wait.
8. ... A cheeky morning *bump* for a great amp just over a year old and half the price you can get them new.
9. Try them out man .. totally pointless asking other people opinions on sound etc. on a forum ... although you really should buy the terror bass head.. well that'll be the one you walk out of the shop with when you do try them . It's more versatile than people say and it oozes tone .. something you aint gonna get from a boring ashdown (IMO). Don't go on Watts alone my 100w Ampeg BA115 sounded as loud as a ABM300 combo I a/b'd at a gig infact the ampeg kicked back was a far clearer stage monitor. My terror bass rig sounds about twice as loud.
10. ... you just need to keep the knobs from your knobs!
11. SOLD For Sale is my Ampeg BA115. I've been gigging with it since Nov last year, it's a surprisingly loud little combo and sounds great. Used it for a number of small and medium pub gigs with no PA support and it coped fine for crowds 150-200 people, although with 200 odd folk at a rocky gig it would distort a little when cranked.. fine if you are in a rock band . With PA support it's great as it has a DI out and the kickback design makes it a great monitor. I bought it second hand for £180 after my V4B failed on me. The guy told me it was just over a year old which I believe as it is in very good condition. He hadn't gigged with it, I have and as a result it has a few light scuffs on the covering and a very small dent (which you could probably straighten out) on the rear (you can see this clearly on the photos) from where I pushed the amp into it's kickback position and it hit off a power socket fixed to a wall. I'm looking for £150 for a quick sale and local pick up from either Perth or Dundee or my house inbetween the two (or within a 30 mile radius of either for an extra £10). More info can be found here - http://www.ampeg.com...a115/index.html Photos can be found here - http://photobucket.com/AmpegBA115 Reason for sale -> http://basschat.co.u...00-laney-nx115/ - got this for my birthday, and I just bought a Zoom B3 which I'm looking to cover the cost of (or the wife is to be precise!) Cheers.
12. ... following a few annoying fumblings in the dark on stage last night to adjust settings mid song I phoned Richard this morning and should have one by Tuesday ... I've got a couple of gigs next weekend, one in a small pub and one in a large club. If I've got to grips with it by then I will report back .. I'm only planning on using the fx (initially) so I can't see me not being ready. The set with the covers band I play in only requires a couple of chorus and distortion/fuzz variations but some of the other effects will no doubt come in handy. Cheers Richard, I was pretty sold on buying it before the call, but talking to somebody who knows his products was pretty refreshing.
13. Hmmmm ... Seriously tempted. Anybody have experience gigging with the previous versions? I play in covers bands and have managed fine with an overdrive, fuzz and chorus pedal .. for like the last ten years. I was looking at replacing my current pedals and this whole unit is cheaper than each individual pedal I was thinking about. In a live situation do you think it will come close to the real pedals? Having one pedal with different saved settings etc. Would be great for getting your settings nailed each time with no faffing between tunes. Also some of the synth, phase, delay etc. Would be cool to play around with ... The looper could be reallt cool also. Is there a way you can turn off the pre-amp Sims and use just the effects so I can simply use it in my effect loop? Don't really fancy running anything infront of my amp's pre-amp.
14.
Obviously DONT go from either of the 2 main outputs into anything other than an 8ohm or 4ohm cab!
I'm no mental! Cheers chaps .. I'm not really planning on needing it, I just considered playing around with it to try and get a decent sound if my terror bass head ever fails on me. It's a perfect back up amp as it's so small and light (and it was mega cheap). Salt - you are spot on two separate power amps so I guess you are effectively doing the above when only one speaker is connected. Incidentally Ashdown have a top customer service (some may disagree) After taking my superfly head out of storage (when looking at alternatives to my BA115 I noticed the chrome jack insert (thing) was missing .. I e-mailed ashdown, got an almost instant reply and one appeared in the post a few days later. No cost / no proof of purchase etc. Can't really argue with that!
15. ... Sorry if this has been asked b4 had a quick look and couldn't find anything and it's not overly obvious in the manual. Can you run an old Ashdown Superfly (2x250w) without any speaker attached? I've had one for years (as a back up amp) but never really used it since I bought it 8 years or so ago. From doing a bit of reading on here I've removed the outer casing (I can't believe there is a perfectly good metal box inside BONKERS) .. I was just thinking about playing about with it just using the line out into a small practice amp with no speaker attached to the head ..or into a headphone amp.
16. Cheers folks! I'm pretty chuffed with it myself .. Wayne I probably will be looking to shift the BA115 shortly, I'll ask around locally first. Kent is a bit of a trek from Dundee. Got the head for £435 ( http://www.rainbowmusiconline.co.uk/terror-bass-500 - local shop as well! ) and the Cab for £240 + £20 of grille cloth and piping .. Not a bad wee rig for Under £700.
17. I sold my V4B to Grahame, instant payment and great communication. Thanks again DT
18. Cheers Grahame .. only just noticed this section of the forum, Hope you enjoyed the Haribo! DT
19. Just finished the grille cloth on my new Cab tonight .. I used to gig with a V4B and an old (large) 2x15, been using a small BA115 in a new band for a few months at small gigs, can't wait to rock this little set up at the weekend My entire rig is lighter than my old head. The laney cab is quite a bit lighter than spec after taking off the stupidly heavy (and IMO ugly) steel grille so retarded on a lightweight cab.
20. ... Following on from a quality suggestion on my "damping" post I took an old piece of flightcase foam and sandwiched it between two pieces of black 'craft' foam. Sounds fantastic .. and looks pretty cool I think ... I decided to just go with "the Punisher" badge in the end .. although it's only stuck on with doublesided tape so I can change my mind!
21.
Turn it down!!
- You're starting to sound like my wife! It was probably happening at louder than my average gig volume! Mighty Impressive sound levels from a single 15.
