1. A new one - Cort GB75 fretless with East U-retro pre. Lovin' it
 2. Stereophonics - Dakota
 3.
Groundhogs Cherry red
This ^^^ Wow ... that brought back a few memories
 4.
It's all well and good loads of aspiring young players shredding like Victor Wooten , but who would put that kind of playing on a track ? What kind of music would it serve? There is a whole new genre of bass playing that has developed that has no real application beyond the self-indulgent , self-serving and pointless twiddling of its' creators. Back in the day, basslines had to serve the song as well as enhance the music overall [...] for the most part there are more very flashy but very average bass players about nowadays, not neccesarilly a whole lot more good ones. than there were back in the olden days.
Couldn't agree more.
 5. I watched a video of the Killers in concert last night (It's on Virgin On Demand if anyone wants to check). Was slightly surprised to see them using 3 guitars (1 acoustic) and keyboards all the time. I couldn't honestly tell from the live mix what the 2nd electric and the acoustic were contributing, but I could easily see that working on an album mix.
So what do you guys think, should we give in just to satisfy the guitarist's ego, or should insist on two guitars?
The answer (to me) is obvious. If the music you want to make has clear roles for two guitars, then two guitarists is what you should go for. If you have (or are auditioning) an egotistical guitarist who thinks otherwise, he's not the guy for you, move on to the next (always assuming that's possible).
 6.
Fishbone live April 23, 2008. Nice groove by John Norwood Fisher.
A phenomenal bass technique there, but, applying my own highly subjective definition of 'groove', IMHO groove is exactly what that lacks. Keep 'em coming though ... variety is the spice of life, etc, etc.
 7. I'm picturing that with an ebony, unlined fretless fingerboard. Must. Resist. EDIT: Dear Santa, ....
 8.
Well, here it is, freshly assembled from Fenrandez (1981-ish) body, pickup and bridge, and new maple fretless neck (EYparts, made in China):
That is very nice indeed
 9.
George Porter Jr and his band are playing at the Borderline next year, 30th March.
Already booked That's saved me booking an expensive trip to New Orleans next year ... though despite having seen Trombone Shorty and Galactic this year, I might still go.
 10.

Thank you so much for posting this
 11. Meters live in 2012: The highlight: People Say http://www.youtube.c...Fhu4kKgw#t=1827 The whole thing:
 12. 5502's are great, versatile, basses, that pickup config with the coil-split switch on the MM is hard to beat. I'm not normally keen on sunburst but this one looks a stunner with that nice grain underneath. Can't really justify another one so I won't be buying, but have a bump on me.
 13.
An old classic treat for your ears... we do this in my funk band...
Coupla nice choices there
 14.
This Boiler Room mix by nightmares on Wax is superb. Perfect for listening at work or chilling at home. Does anyone know that tune at 41:23? https://soundcloud.c...on-wax-1h30-min
That groove is "It's your thing". I don't think it's the original though.
 15. Has this build moved on ? Would love to see more.
 16. Is that a factory fretless or defret/replacement fingerboard ?
 17.
Yes, it's an East U-Retro. Monstrous tone from 9v.
I keep on hearing good things about these, must choose a bass to swap one in ... Maybe the status shark 5 (fretless of course).
 18.
just got this, all black, the fretboard is so dark it almost looks like ebony too
Nice ... Matt and gloss combined is a cool look.
 19.
Equally we could just be a bit more light hearted about life.
Was somebody failing to be light hearted ?
 20.
I only have two Status (Statii??)
Statuses. Best argument I heard about that was from an English classics student who said (1) we're conversing in English so make plurals the English way and (2) the plural of English in the original Latin is not Statii anyway. See also this link which cross-references a few dictionaries. Looks like that well-known Status-oriented website should probably change it's name.
 21.
here my baby from 98 i will never sell this one
Nice A 55-94 I guess, then, given the date ?
 22.
[sup]Just bought this '71 Precision here on bass.chat... belonged to Willy Weeks. Great bass... very inspiring. [/sup]
Fab My favourite P bass colours. I'm kind of curious, is the basses prior ownership documented ? Or just a story associated with the bass ? Like I said, just idle curiousity. While I'd love to have a bass previously owned by Willie Weeks, I'm not sure I'd necessarily pay a premium for that privilege.
 23.
I use chrome on an Galaxy s3, have you tried a different browser? I know one stock android browser it looks a bit different from what I remember.
Chrome and Safari (on my iPhone 4S) behave pretty much the same for me, as regards this problem.
 24.
Nothing wrong with this mobile site!
Not for you, maybe, but myself, and some others who have posted above in this thread, do have specific issues with getting to the first unread post in a thread. personally, I'm only bothered about a solution to that, whether it's an app or something else.
 25.
I heard a rumour it's based on the ehx bass blogger. I think bigbeatnut on here has one
I do .... and I like it. Not the distortion side, but the fuzz side set at about 9 o'clock sounds pretty good to me ... sound just beginning to break up ... nice.
