1.
Now there's an idea for another topic. What's the best band you saw but cannot remember?
Bit of a flaw in that somewhere.
 2.
the strings are really old (8+ years, i know i know, they will be changed soon i get the feeling that i am missing something fundamental.
I would start with the obvious. Even lightly used strings will be knackered after that long.
 3. In places it made Magical Mystery Tour look like an episode of Eastenders. Realy well done I reckon. Makes you wonder what goes on in his mind though. Getting a diagnosis of a terminal illness is weird and doesn't affect you the way you would expect. Pretentious rubbish? I'm not so sure, there are english teachery bits but even I could forgive him those.
 4. Went to see Gary Glitter in the 80s, just to take the pyss. Have to admit he was a real Rock n Roll showman, even strutting around shirtless showng off his puny chest.
 5.
A popular beat combo from around these parts I believe... overrated from what I've heard
Funny haircuts and suits ? Saw them early in 1964, wasn't really impressed. But then I was a ten year old Stones fan being taken out by my big sister.
 6.
Little Feat? I thought they were OK. The friend I went with (far more knowledgeable than me about music) was absolutely blown away, but I wasn't that impressed.
I was well into Little Feat in the mid 70s, saw them with The Who at Charlton FC but the sound was rubbish for the earlier bands, could harldy hear them and as it was early in the day, people still arriving didnt get to watch anything properly till Alex Harvey came on and the volume went up a bit. Would have loved to have seen them in a small club though. Would have loved to have seen the original Feelgoods. I'm told that I saw them in Brum around 75, but I have no recollection of it.
 7.
Give ears a chance!
So, is inner ear peace the Hindu George verion ?
 8. Something in the back of my mind says they used TLO62 op amps. Try warming them up, tip of a soldering iron or a hairdryer. if the hiss gets worse, and if your up to it replace them. or just replace them anyway, theyre probably only pennies each. Not sure but I think RS stock a FET replacement which should be quieter and draw less current from yer batteries, someone on here wil no doubt be along in a minute with more knowlege than me about that.
 9.
Me too - I bought a set of ear peace plugs today - thanks!
Ear Peace. Sounds like a John Lennon protest, or a CSNY song.
 10.
and an inability to appreciate the other bands on the same bill because all I really want to do is get up there and play. HTH.
This. Even if we are the support band I cant watch another band after we have finished. Thought it was just me.
 11.
thats weird , I get grumpy also, the missus says " I can tell you've got a gig".
And me.
 12. Done. Usually always look at these but usually never fill em in... Usually that is.
 13.
Went to see Albert Lee in Manchester without knowing any of his songs or hearing anything he's done before. Absoloultley blown away by his talent, fantastic band, fantastic gig. Now checking out some of his back catalogue
I like this one. But who's the sick looking bloke at 0:47 ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGU63KqXuZk
 14.
Ooh - I like the sound of aerosols. Anybody used it?
Looks like what we used to call Aquadag. If it is, it was sprayed on the outside of cathode ray tubes for years. Not very flexible but it certainly sticks on glass.
 15. Watching The Nations Favourite Beatles No.1, I realised that the only Beatles numbers I can stand are from 66/67. Trouble is Macca winds me up. I cant stand the expressions on his face. No denying he's a great Bass player, wrote a some great Bass lines which are probably a big part of what made half of us want to play Bass and the numbers wouldnt be as good without. I just wish I hadnt grown up watching him on TV with all those silly Beatles one liners and that smug innocent wide eyed expression on his mush.
 16.
Sorry, but this is cobblers. The very purpose of public liability insurance is to cover you if you have been negligent. That is the very definition of public liability insurance. Ins co's might not have the best press, but their reasons for refusing to pay are usually relating to the person insured failing to advise them of material facts, or fraud. It's very difficult these days for an insurer to decline a claim. Speaking as a lawyer who deals with this stuff day-in, day-out, using a product in the way the manufacturer intended within the recommended design parameters is unlikely to land you in court. Balancing said 15" speakers on a table without any form of restraint, on the other hand...
OK. Cobblers is such a lawyerly word.
 17.
It's a case of what is practical. Tops on tripod stands is a standard way of setting up. What additional steps you take for a temporary three hour gig has got to be proportionate. You're not going to spend an hour lashing down speakers that are going to be in place for three hours max. Positioning them in front of the band where people wouldn't be expected to be is good enough. If people are going to get drunk and fall over then there's insurance to argue that for you.
A 1X15 PA cab landing on someone has the potential to cause life changing injuries. Apart from the moral responsibility, you have a duty of care. Insurance companies are all crooks, if they can get away without paying because you were negligent, they will. "The 7ft high, wobbly, two hundredweight top heavy box balanced on a tripod, with one of its legs on the dancefloor was only going to be there for 3 hours while drunks dance and stagger around it" would do you no good in a courtroom when read out by the lawyers for the HSE, or by the no win no fee lawyer for someone in a wheelchair who is going to spend the rest of their life with the consequences.
 18. You couldnt leave something that top heavy unsecured on a building site or in a factory, so why in a pub? You need to be able to prove you took reasonable steps. Drunk customers is no excuse, we are talking about pubs here, it goes with the territory.
 19. Saw a nice Les Paul get knocked off a stand and trodden on once by a drunk who wanted us to play Delilah. You cant protect everything, but I'm never comfortable with heavy stuff like speakers on tripod stands in pubs where the stage is often not big enough. so the stand goes where people can get to it. Its a nasty accident, and a big claim, just waiting to happen. If you cant tie it to a pillar or something, much better put on a table or a crate. Doesnt look good but safer.
 20.
That's for the band's liability to someone else. Don't be surprised if you do try and follow it up to be on the receiving end of a claim against you for injury sustained as a result of tripping over one of your "dangerously"* sited stands... *ie you and I know it wasn't, but she'll still try it on...
This. People suddenly realise when they sober up that they have a terrible back injury which only a no win no fee claim will cure.
 21.
I have no issue with him playing around with the groove and going nuts, but his timekeeping is pretty shoddy in places.
Maybe that drummer is in the wrong band...
 22. Cant be bothered to read all this thread, but I found it intersting that .What a drummer this guy isnt' has 200 more views than 'What a drummer this guy is' even though they started within an hour of each other.
 23. Half a dozen, except for my old Boss one theyre all cheapo ones. 2 are clip ons that cost me less than £3.00 each off ebay. i use my ears more than tuners, and dont do pedals.
 24. What about if your in a function band ? I mean - what use is a spare pick at a wedding ?
