  1. Zoom B1 Four. Great little effects/preamp pedal. This is my second one but I've realised that I don't really use effects and amp simulations so I'm going to switch to a dedicated preamp pedal.

    Preamp Pedals?

I did have a Spectra drive for a short while. I couldn't get a tone I was happy with so moved it on but I probably should have presevered with it for a bit longer. I am leaning towards an MXR but I'll hang onto the Zoom B1 Four for the time being and try adjusting the EQ via the PA mixer and see how I get on with that.

    Preamp Pedals?

I'm just using some of the presets. They sound great through a pair of headphones but when I'm using it through the band PA I want to be able to quickly adjust the EQ to suit the room that I'm playing in. So yes I could make my own presets at home but the EQ would need adjusting at each gig. This is why I'm leaning towards a preamp pedal with quick access to the EQ settings.

    Preamp Pedals?

I've been using a Zoom B1 four as my main preamp direct into the mixing desk without backline but I'm finding that the EQ section is a bit limited without delving into sub menus. I've been thinking about going to a standard preamp pedal but wondered what everyone's views were on sweepable mids vs High/Low mid controls? I've shortlisted the following pedals and wondered if anyone has had any previous experience with them: TC Spectra drive. MXR M81 NUX Melvin Lee Davis
  5. A lovely looking bass for not much money! I'm very tempted but have 2 basses up for sale on here at the minute. I had a Cort B5 and regret selling it. GLWTS.
  6. Ashdown ABM 500 watt EVO 111 bass head. The usual ashdown bells and whistles, i.e. valve preamp/drive, solid-state power amp, compressor, octaver, flat/shape button, footswitch out, effects send return, tuner out etc. Collection from Whitley Bay or a possible meet up within a reasonable distance
  7. It's up for £175. It was originally up for sale together with the cab for £300 but the cab sold. I understand the confusion though, I might delete this add and create a new one.
  8. If I didn't already have 2 basses for sale on here then I would have been very interested in this! 😭
  9. Great colour, great weight, great playability, great sound, great price, what's not to like! I shouldn't have sold mine! GLWTS.
  10. Just bought a Zoom B1 Four from Jacek. He posted it straight off for me as I needed for a gig at the weekend and I got it with a day to spare! Thanks Jacek!
  11. Great colour that!
  12. Shame about the distance, I have a Stirling SB14 that I could trade.
  13. 4.5kg on the bathroom and luggage scales.
  14. Just looked but nothing in there from today.
  15. Sterling by Musicman SB14 3 band EQ, 3 way selector switch, hum cancelling phantom coil, nice slim satin finished neck, basswood body. 4.5kg on the bathroom and luggage scales. This was an itch that I had to scratch but I've seen something on here that I fancy and I don't like to have more than 2 basses at any one time. Collection from Whitley Bay or I could possibly meet up within a reasonable distance. Could possibly post if you wanted to arrange your own courier/insurance.
  16. I've done both but kept my backline gear and was eventually bullied into using backline again by the rest of the band who use in ears but still use backline and an acoustic kit. I have to say that using in ears and a preamp pedal instead of backline was a revelation, not just for the amazing sound quality of the bass but also it helped my singing, protected my ears and stopped me playing my bass really hard just to be able to hear it. I would say that it's a bit isolating using in ears and no backline and I think my ideal scenario would be to use backline but just played at sensible volume with the PA doing all of the work out front. Sadly that the rarely happens in a rock covers bands with 2 guitarists! 😭
  17. Hi everyone, I have an Ashdown 1x15 neo cab that I'm using with an Ashdown ABM 500 head. It has a buzz at a certain frequency when played at gig volume. I'm guessing it's not the speaker as I can stop the buzzing by pressing on the grille with my foot. I've checked all of the screws holding the grille in place and they are all nice and tight. Other than removing the grille, I'm not sure what next step might be. Has anyone had this issue before and how did they manage to fix it? Cheers
  18. Ashdown ABM 500 watt EVO 111 bass head. The usual ashdown bells and whistles, i.e. valve preamp/drive, solid-state power amp, compressor, octaver, flat/shape button, footswitch out, effects send return, tuner out etc. Collection from Whitley Bay or a possible meet up within a reasonable distance.
  19. Sorry to hijack this post but the ABM head and your 1x15 cab sounded great. Good advert for ashdown though and I imagine this combo will sound every bit as good.
  20. I've just bought an ABM 500 head and 1x15 cab but would have preferred this. Bad timing. 😭
  21. Bargain, I wish I lived closer to you...
