  1. Evening all. What are people's favourite p bass pickups? I'm looking at making a bitsa bass, and just wondered what options are out there? Price not really a matter. Also, would i then have to add in specific pots?
  2. We've just come back from a tribute weekend where the supplied pa was all old hisys kit (albeit lots of it) and it sounded fantastic!
  3. With the xr18, could you use it without wireless? - ie: xr18 - sub cable - tablet/phone.
  4. Hisys 2s and 4s will always sell well. Depends whether you have 1s, 2s, 4s? Prob get £200 for tops and subs if its those. Less if theyre 1s.
  5. If it helps, my set up is helix to amp, with the helix signal going to the desk where possible. i bought the quilter for gigs where there is no hired in backline, on the basis it would be as neutral, clear and possible as possible as i try to get all of my sound from the helix. it does this a treat, so id imagine it would do the same with your vt pedals. ps - i definitely wouldnt say it lacks top end. it can go for whatever sound you want.
  6. Completely agree. The delivery is exactly what I've been looking for. Took it to a tribute festival this weekend. No idea what to expect, but was a fairly big room and a fairly big square stage area. The previous bands were all measured and giving 90db just for the bass backline, so I thought it'd have to be pushed a bit - one of those sound/volume eating stages. Anywho, used my 610 then helix into quilter on gain at 5, master at 12 noon - which is shown just around 160w. Did the job brilliantly. Lovely and clear with that weird feeling of reassurance that you just 'know' it's still got a million times more power to give. Very happy.
  7. I'm so impressed with mine. Using it with my helix where there's no hired in backline. Giving it it's first full run out this sat at an event. Can't wait. It's the mods and highs mentioned above that let it sit in the mix lovely.
  8. This may sound daft, but have you tried different basses or more specifically different pickups? I have x2 Vintage basses - a V4 reissue and a ICON. They have different pick ups in, but otherwise fairly identical. Identical strings on too. No matter what i use or what i do, i cannot get the V4 to give that bright zingy valvey sound. Tried everything. It sounds great, really great, but not bright valve like. However, the ICON, as soon as i plug it in to anything remotely valvey or valve like bursts into valve like song. Its weird. But the ICON really does the valve sound great, but the V4 cant get anywhere near as close, despite using identical amps and pedals.
  9. Reading quite a bit about it over on another forum and impressed how mr Q himself was asking for feedback and amendments. Almost no one said they should revert back to a standard low, mid, high type set up. Also another great feature is the tilted facia. I hadnt even really noticed why its so good, as it just works, but the tilted facia makes seeing what each knob does really clear and easy when standing near the amp, without the amp having to be tilted. Great idea. So many little inovations in this little amp, and all brilliantly executed.
  10. cheers - i hadnt even noticed the manual! i'll give that a try, thanks. EDIT - just gave it a try - makes a BIG difference! Cheers.
  11. Was playing with a new toy today - quilter bass block 800. I love the eq system. Love it. No bass, mids, high knobs. Just a depth knob and contour knob with 3 main positions on each. Talk about a perfect idea. Start perfectly flat, literally twist, turn....no. twist back..closer.....twist a little more. Perfect. Great idea, and the graphs on the facia show you what your aiming towards. No getting confused what to add or cut in a 5 band eq. This adjusts from one knob. Well done quilter. Great idea, well implented. Also, love the locking iec. Great idea.
  12. Yes, sorry, i bought the bass essentials pack, where every setting reverts to the first version of the cab. Is the cab meant to be turned back to 0db or left at -18db?
  13. Cheers. I bought the 3 sigma, but out of all the patches, when I load them in and load the ir cabs (there's about 20) every present from 3sigma chooses the first cab, which I found odd as I assumed each sound would be tailor made for a different cab. Also, all the ir cabs volumes are set at -18db ?
  14. Thanks all. Yes, I'm thing 2 2x12 cabs. And 1 for small / medium gigs.
  15. Hi all, Just wondered if anyone used a 4x12 anymore? I used the 2x12 I have with the helix last night and it was awesome. Just thinking adding another for larger gigs? More a modular system if needed, but wondered if it would be over bearing or muddy? I know these used to be popular years ago.
  16. Keeping taking deep breaths. Get some oxygen to your hands. I used to get that and conscious deep breathing really helped. Also, amend the set list so you're not going flat out for 20 mins. But yes, you do need constant practice to build up the stamina as well.
  17. Is there any trick to loading in IR cabs? I've downloaded and uploaded 3sigma pack, but struggling loading the ir cabs?
  18. i really really like the Elfs. Great tone and shaping capabilities, and a DI. Only thing is to use them with a good cab which has more than one speaker. A lot of people compain about volume, but its usually people using them with a 1x10 or a 1x12 trying to do the job of a big rig - use them with a 2x12 upwards and theyre ample loud!
  19. The sound of a B15 or full on SVT with the ability to really drive the valves without deafening yourself, but 40kg lighter! I used to mix mine - use it with a small class d for a tiny lightweight ampeg rig! Then use it with a quality heavy class A/B for real heft. Very adaptable. £250 or nearest offer.
  20. Ive been speaking to Custom In Ear Company - has anyone had any experience with the UE5s? any help appreciated.
