  1. I have a katana 210. It's superb. Seems weird to then launch a class d version and what looks like a watered down version of the features of the 210?
  2. The nut is crafted from 10,000 year old mammoth tusk!!!! Now we're talkin!! Yep, get that in!
  3. Keep the ideas coming! So, so far as a rough overview..(apologies if I've missed anything). . Drop tuners on all strings. . Auto tuner on the headstock . Luminlay and LED markers on the fretboard. . Fretted and fret less mod. . Slide able interchangeable pickups. . Pick up selector switch. . Tones styler type tone control . A mix of tone woods. . Filter type eq system. . Mono and Stereo out jack. . Built in internal Roland synth module. . Preamp . Parametric eq for bass lomid himid treble . Built in compressor. . Built in distortion / drive. . Kill switch. . S1 switch. . Smart phone / iPad compatibility. . String thru body option . Emergency tool kit compartment (similar to battery compartment). . Built in wireless option. Sounds amazing If its a hit, there'll be a Harley Benton version in a year or two for around £150
  4. Fliippin eck! I thought I was onto something. That's another dragons den moment ruined then..
  5. Do these exist? I've always thought about making these?!
  6. Haha, I'm already loving this bass!
  7. A vertical plastic flap on the back (like on the hohner headless) that pulls out to make it's own stand.
  8. Brilliant so far! A few of mine: Built in tuner On board fx Full selectable parametric eq cut and boost for bass, lo mid, hi mid, treble. Luminlay or led fret markers It'd be good for a laugh if when compiled someone could mock up what the basschat homer Simpson mobile bass would look like!
  9. OK, so just for a bit of fun, but also an attempt to see what hardware mods / upgrades are out there at the moment..... What hardware mods are available to create or modify a bass guitar into the most versatile it could be? I'm thinking pre Amps including parametric eqs (for bass, mid, high) s1 switches, pick up switches, knobs etc, different pick ups and configurations. Anything goes. Ie to make the 'Homer Simpson mobile' of bass guitars.
  10. Your agreement wasn't: Play for £xxx and if we make enough over the bar we'll pay it you. It was: Play for £xxx. Any other factors aren't your issue. Pathetic from the venue.
  11. That guts me as I had a clf l2000 and just couldn't get it to do anything with my bands at that time. Shame because maybe it would work with my current ones. And they're too expensive to take a gamble on.
  12. Epic player. Tasteful, toneful, melodic and musical. As a kid it was bassically, nib then warning that got me into soulful bass. Meandering around, they're a work of art.
  13. I had that too!! . People saying it was low. Desperate and bottom of the barrel. I'd only taken them off basses I'd bought and replaced with my own.
  14. Don't worry about selling your gear, it can all be replaced when and if needed. It's also fun building the gear back up
  15. Yeh, to clarify the meaning.... I had seen a supposed stingray for sale. Turns out it was a bitsa fake. Luckily I'd sussed it out before buying and the seller changed his listing. As suspected it was a cheap sub series with all the us logo and made in San Louis obispo california US stamps (or whatever it is) to try and fool people.
  16. Yeh, it's weird how we think we have the one we want then try to make it fit, when unbeknown to us there's a better alternative out there. When I look back with the precisions I've used every amp and cab combination, pedals, fx, strings and it turns out it was the bass all along. To put into context I've never ever ever been able to make a precision sound like they do in any demo video, but spend a fortune trying to! I don't know why, but I just can't make any precision sound like a precision
  17. Yes, its weird how some basses suit some players and others don't. I just had precisions because all of my bass heroes did and thought I'd sound like them if I had one (but without the talent)
  18. Do the wilkinson tuners fit as a direct replacement?
  19. They are great. I've said before I rate my mm84a benton in my top 2 basses ever. And I've had every type of bass going.
  20. I've had a bass since 1992. The usual lads decide to form a band thing. It was a precision (copy). That was soon upgraded for a westone precision type bass. Then when I started properly playing I got a USA precision. Played it for 10 years without playing anything else. Then when that folded I started a function band and it was precisions again. I tried jazzes along the way, but really couldn't gel with them. Then I got into tribute acts. Precisions again. Loads of them. Forever swapping. Tried jazzes again, and (apart from the flea jazz) just couldnt gel. I was also never ever ever really happy with my precision sound. Nothing wrong with it. But never truly impressed. Punchy on the E string, yes, but not rich anywhere else. Then after 30 years of p basses..... I bought a Harley benton double humbucker musicman copy. Absolutely love it. I think it's a fantastic bass. Every sound under the sun. Big, but somehow easy to play and clear sounding everywhere. Then over the last few weeks I got the even cheaper Harley benton single humber stingray copy. And once I'd whacked some better strings on and shielded it, it's gorgeous. Seriously fat and gnarly but controllable and warm. Where my precisions would be too fat and dull to really rip into some songs, this does it with ease. I've tried these with function band, tribute band and party band and it fits lovely and warm and clear across the scale. The precisions and jazzes in my hands where flat and subdued and sounded a bit lazy. I'm sure it's just my style (finger style) and nothing to do with the actual basses, but I can just not get a lively sound out of a precision or jazz. I sound instantly dull, despite fitting in the mix. But now with stingrays (all be it budget ones) everything come to life. So, it turns out after 30 years of playing and telling everyone I'm a died in the wool precision player - I'm not. It should have been stingrays all the way!
  21. You know I remember when they first came out, and I remember reading bass magazine and I'm sure they said the same thing! For years I've remembered that and no one believed me!
  22. What do I value about my local music shop? The Miserable ignoring of customers when they walk in. The useless stock levels of anything bass wise. The lies that they have things in stock, but turns out it's in their warehouse, but wont deal with it because you need to order online. Their sky high prices. The absolute miserable attitude to being helpful to you whilst you are trying to give them your money. The complete arrogant attitude when you walk in and the look an aristocrat gives to a street walker. As you can tell, I don't like mine. And it's a big chain store. And 5 mins walk from my house. I gave it another chance recently and having been greeted with a grunt, and then told by the assistant still eating his dinner that the only bass strings they stock are daddrio xl and they're £40, I walked out, not to return again for another 5 years.
