  1. Mani - Stone Roses. Brilliant melodic lines and pretty much the pinnacle of the entire Madchester / Indie scene.
  2. Hi all, Does anyone know the average price for a secondhand Ray 34 - the older ones (approx 10yrs old) with the matching headstock colour? I've seen them go between £500 and £800 and even listed at £900 and just wondering what they should be priced at?
  3. I tried the trace 4x10 last week, with the starfire. It was a very good trace clone. It had the tight trace sound. Worked well to be fair. In comparison the svt is more full rather than tight. Regarding the editor and irs, that's the only downside of the pedal - you need to be connected to your laptop to change amp or cab.
  4. I used this last night with our tribute band. Straight into the practice rooms pa (mixer set flat) which had x2 unmatched mid budget to cheap 12 speakers. Set to MLD amp, SVT 810 cab sim, very slight bass and low mid boost. Very light drive on. Best sound i ever had. Cant wait to hear it through a top pa. Rich, powerful, well balanced, fitted the band perfect with no need for tweaking. Very controllable as the pa spread the sound all over the room. Over the moon with this pedal.
  5. I used an old svt 810 at a practice room with an old svt3 (not an all valve svt). Sounded terrible. Like blown garbage speakers. Like something was broke. ...... Anywho, when we played through with the full band is was fantastic!! Fitted lovely. Sounded lovely. Clear and warm and full of character. Loved it.
  6. Having owned a stomp I'd honestly say theres too much choice and too many things to mess with that make you sound worse. I never understood why the presets - or at least some of the presets - weren't designed for live work? In a nutshell, I've just got a nux mld and once plugged in it's just a great sound. No messing or ruining the tone.
  7. N410 is an excellent cab. Dont get them mixed up with the nx410 though. The n410 is about 10kg lighter and uses lavoce speakers. It's a great cab. The nx410 is also great, but its physically bigger and heavier. I love the look of the dbv but havent heard one yet. Cant go wrong with the n410 at the right price.
  8. This is pretty much what I do in the covers band. Basic structure, then improve everytime we play it. I've been down the route of spending all my spare time learning songs for them suddenly to be dropped for no reason or never mentioned again.
  9. Yes, I'll sort them for you now. It's in great condition.
  10. Did a full practice with the above set up tonight. Bye bye amp! Absolutely no need for an amp and cab anymore. We went through the supplied pa at practice (albeit a good pa) and the pedal sounded fantastic. I just set it to the mld amp and trace 4x10 cab and it did everything so well. Nice and warm. Receptive to eq changes. In all honesty I did last weeks practice (everything else the same) DI'd through the ashdown evo iv and this week it sounded just as good if not better to be fair - and that without trying any of the other amps and cabs available. The sound quality of the pedal is as good as I've heard anywhere and I've had more than my fair share of amps, pedals and and rigs over the years. With so much routing available on it - xlr di out pre or post and with or without a cab sim, an unaffected jack through, and a jack output with switchable cab sim - this pedal is prepared for anything. The drive function worked well to add some grit and volume if needed for solos. It's a keeper and now will be my main sound no matter what's required. Just need to secure it all properly now onto a board and I'm sorted.
  11. Just put this together for tonight's practice. Not had time to fully sort, but its: 1. Boss wl50 wireless transmitter. 2. Nux MLD preamp, di and amp and cab modeller. 3. Pedal train space saving tuner. 4. Xvive wireless transmitter for in ears. We'll see how it goes tonight!
  12. I've just bought a nux mld sounds great so far. 3 amp models, 6 cab models (all adjustable), mid range and frequency selector and a complete IR loader for your own IRs or eqs. Gonna give it a blast at practice this week.
  13. Apologies, it's similar to the previous post, it's just the holding the buttons down when taking the psu in and out that I struggled with... I just assumed you turned it on.
  14. Ok everyone, I've bought one of these today, pulled (what's left of) my hair out, but eventually solved this. To get the pedal and pc to sync and work properly try the following. 1. Go to nux site. 2. Download the editor software for the mld. 3. Download the preamp software for mld. 4. Go to bottom of page and install the asio driver. 5. Install the asio. Restart pc. 6. Install editor software. Restart pc. 7. Install preamp software. Restart pc. 8. Connect usb cable to pedal and pc. 9. Connect 9v power to pedal. 10. Open the update software. Now heres the trick..... 11. When the update software has popped up and it says 'device not recognised or no device connected'.... a) press both footswitches down and keep the held down. b) keep holding the footswitches down and unplug the 9v psu. Keep the footswitches pressed down. c) after a few seconds with the footswitches still held down, plug the 9v psu back in. d) you will now get both green and red lights flashing. Let go of the footswitches. 12. You'll now see on the updater software that the device is recognised. Click select file. Find the 4.0 bin file and press select. 13. Press update. This will now work and update the firmware. It's the instructions above 11 to 13 that are the key. Once its updated shut down your pc and unplug all connection and psu. Restart the pc, reconnect all cables and psu and start the software editor, give it a while to recognise. Hopefully this helps.
  15. Just thinking this morning..... dont know why couldnt you raise all the eq which would in turn raise the overall volume. You could use that to balance inbetween notches without affecting input or sound. Just an idea if it helps.
  16. I get what you're saying. I've had loads of ashdown amps including several abm iv s but it's never been an issue. If it was I would just turn my volume down (or up) slightly on the bass if needed. I suppose if ashdown do a mod though its all good for everyone.
  17. It's not to keep them exactly the same, more to avoid the dials moving to ridiculous positions in transit - me forgetting to check and a ridiculously loud awful sound coming out. ie everything ending up dimmed to full. I pretty much want the same core sound every gig then very slight tweaks if needed. Regarding notched dials on volume, just turn your bass or amp input down if theres any problem.
  18. No, I prefer those too. More chance of eq etc staying in position from gig to gig.
  19. I can see where the OP is coming from. Regular working rig, make it easier for yourself, you'll enjoy it more. Regularly lugging heavy awkward kit can quickly demoralised you. First gig for a while, take the big rig and really enjoy it. Seems sensible to me.
  20. Only writing this so I dont forget..... I was down the youtube rabbit hole last night and saw an interview with michael league of snarky puppy. Not my thing by any means, so I dont know why I was watching it, but he was running through his pedal board. He has an octave and an oc3, but also let on about a trick hed learned how to get an octave sound without a pedal. Basically for example, take a G. Fret it at the 3 fret on the e string, but pluck at/over the 15th fret (another g) rather than were youd normally pluck, and you'll get an octave sound. Havent had chance to try it, but he was convinced it works.
