1.
Edit: strangely enough, despite being more dense, rosewood is more porous. No Idea how this has a bearing on tone
Sponges are porous, ergo rosewood is spongier! You can see visible gaps in the grain with rosewood, plus it soaks up lemon oil like a, er, sponge!
2. The string might not be touching the board, but the fret transfers vibration directly to the board. The softer, more flexible or porous this board material is, the greater the damping effect on the vibration. Imagine if your board was made of sponge. The frets would wobble about, taking energy away from the string, which then gets dampened by the sponge. It would have a similar effect to playing with foam mutes. Since rosewood is more 'spongey' than maple, this is exactly why it sounds darker, it's just that the difference is a lot more subtle.
3. I cracked the finish on my US Std when drilling for the bridge cover. I later discovered the trick of using some masking tape on the area and drilling into that. Not tried it myself but it should help if you do another!
4. Easy to knock could be a bonus though if you decide mid-song that your pedal needs a slight tweak!

6. They look cool, not sure if it's an optical illusion but if they are wider than the originals I class that as a downside!

8. If it hisses even with the volume on your bass turned all the way down, a pedal would not help. Another hack would be to rewire the cab to take out the tweeter and crossover, running the woofer full range. That will give you more treble than simply turning down the tweeter. Another method would be to put something in front of the tweeter to muffle it slightly! Another thread dedicated to this very problem: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226516-disabling-or-replacing-piezo-tweeter-in-markbass-cmd121p-combo/
9. Darkglass themselves will give you a lifetime warranty on the pedal (he's pretty much said so on the big Talkbass thread), and since he's such a decent chap I doubt he'd even charge you shipping!
10. They are even cheaper than that from Prymaxe! I got mine for £230 as B stock from Thomann though. But anyway there's one in the classifieds if you're quick!

12. You have to be careful doing that on a '57 P with the anodized guard, it can be a snug fit and angling the neck like that could scratch the finish on the side of the neck. Speaking from experience - but it was a Road Worn P so it kinda didn't matter!

£500?!
14. I looked up the schematic on the Warwick site and it has 25K pots on too. Before hooking up a preamp I will mess about with some resistors and/or hooking up the pups directly to the output jack.
15.
Well, I went for the Xotic BB bass preamp, its kinda like (just) a REALLY good pedal because it doesn't have a DI out, so yeah: tonally, these seem to be better pedals and effects, if I could make that assertion. I'm very impressed with it so far through the mini rig at home and a GK backline 600 at the rehearsal studio. this needs a DI though to be a true preamp IMHO and not just the king of bass overdrives.
The BB is more of an overdrive pedal as far as I'm concerned, it's basically a bass friendly tubescreamer. There's lots of similar sounding pedals out there that don't label themselves as preamps. But then again, anything that can amplify your signal and provide some form of shaping is technically a preamp, so if we're calling the BB one then so are all overdrive pedals!
16. This bass had sat neglected for a while until I tried boosting the output to reasonable levels with a BB Preamp then feeding that into a Darkglass B7K. Sounded so damn good I now intend to keep this and will be sorting out new pots and a preamp for it soon!
17. Ganglion cyst? http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/excisionofganglion/pages/introduction.aspx I had one pop up last year, kept massaging it and it eventually disappeared!
18. Yeah, I have bothered to argue my point in the past but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I saw it more as a rental fee to try the pedal out. But I will be making mental notes of which retailers crap return policies so I can avoid them in future!
19. I ordered the B7K plus a EHX Enigma, the latter of which I wanted to return - they emailed me a pre-paid postage label, couldn't be simpler unless they came to pick it up. Pretty impressive considering it won't be cheap to go back to Germany. They are taking a hit on this, but by doing so are ensuring my future business. Compare this to my recent experience of returning a pedal to Guitar Guitar here in the UK, I had to pay my own return shipping and my refund was deducted the priced of shipping it out to me even though it was 'free' shipping at the time of purchase. I won't be buying from there again!
20. If nobody can help, don't forget that in this day and age you can order online then return it if you don't like it for a full refund - some even pay for the return postage, such as Thomann who are selling it for just over £250!
21.
Solid as a rock, heavy and brutish but some great sounds. I found I only ever used mine one pickup at a time though, it sounded too 'hollow' with both on at once for me.
I found the exact opposite, I always used it with all knobs turned up set to both pickups!
22. Do I have to be invited into this voucher scheme, or do I just go on the site and write some reviews?
23. Sound like a VT Bass pedal with the character knob cranked up to harsh. Clank city. Save some dough and buy a VT DI, compressor and power amp!
24. By the same designers of the GK amp sim, here's a boost that uses a transformer to create some drive: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Transboost.html Schematic: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/an-inexpensive-audio-transformer-with-diy-boost-project.1113802/page-17#post-17125268
25. You can build your own too: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/an-inexpensive-audio-transformer-with-diy-boost-project.1113802/page-17#post-17125268
