Behringer

I've got some love for Behringer.... I'm a Music teacher (no sniggering) and we've got three mutli function amps (you know, the ones with mic/jack/phono inputs blahblahblah) in the department. It's no surprise that they get battered to within an inch of their lives almost daily. Apart from the odd broken knob incident (?) they've been as good as gold. I use the bass eq on my board and it does the job very nicely. And if a stagediver puts a Doc Marten through it, I expect I'll be able to pick another one up from Fleabay for a tenner, just like this one. I've just ordered the synth pedal and the updated octave pedal (SO400) from Thomann for thirty-odd quid each....... I'll let you know how I get on ...I did, however, buy the multi-effect pedal which was Ebayed within an hour of purchase....

Level 42 records should have had some form of warning on - "This man is a trained and skilled musician - you are not. Get your thumb away from the fretboard until you're old enough to drink legally. Then play nothing but Motown grooves for three years. Then...we'll talk". Those Jaydee Basses weighed a ton, too. Yes he is a lovely, stand-up bloke and funny too...he told me one of the funniest (and longest) jokes I have ever heard. By then, my muso fixation had waned and my L42/Stanley Clarke/Zappa albums were consigned to the back of the cupboard, while I waxed rhapsodic about Mike Mills and Mike Watt. Now I'm older, wiser and considerably less cool, so I can say after many years of denial...I'm a fan. Although badly played slap Bass still sounds like 1000 dyslectic secretaries typing out endless shopping lists.....
  4. Happy New Year! Up for grabs is a white, single ply Squier Scratchplate. It been drilled for a P/U cover and a thumb rest, apart from that, its all good. I don't have the Squier it came from any more, so I can't give you too much info, I'm afraid - getting scratchplates for some models is a bit of a lottery. 'oo wants it then? Rushbo
  5. These are beautiful, under-rated instruments. I have one of these (without the pickup) and it sounds huge and gorgeous. Snap it up!

    COWPOKE!

Read 'em an' weep Lee4! I didn't know I wanted it until I saw it! I didn't even know they existed. I absolutely love it. They do crop up from time to time, but I've never seen another 'natural' one, which is a shame as it's a great finish. It was a hell of a leap of faith by the original 'stripper' - it could have looked like a road accident under the paint job!

    COWPOKE!

Hi there, I'm not sure this is 'high end' enough to really be described as porn, but what the hey... I picked mine up a week ago (a Christmas present to myself) and I am absolutely delighted. I got it from the lovely Mojobass for £260 with a Brass nut and a Schaller bridge. It sounds superb - the active pick ups make it really sing. It's been stripped down to the wood and finished beautifully - no nasties lurking under the paintwork or sander gouges here! It's a unique and classy looking instrument. It came without a scratchplate, but I was able to locate one from US...I couldn't be happier with it and why they aren't still in production baffles me. It looks like this: Now - lets see some more love fer yer Cowpokes!
