Can you play bass guitar through that!?
Yea you can, I've been a bit cautious with it though as I didn't want to hurt the speakers especially at first but now it seems I can play bass through it fine. Playing guitar through it has always been fine and sounds really good. It really is loud for such a small amp!

Thought I would save some cash and go the budget route

Thanks, PM sent to The Bass Doc. I had thought that's what I would have to do. Hamfist, I hardly have any tools to do it, I have a couple of screwdrivers and a tape measure

Any ideas if anywhere sells one like this? With no hole for the tone control. http://jussijames.buzznet.com/m/photos/riseagainstseattlewa/?id=65125921 http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=5639213998 Thanks

Anyone got any white spirit and a lit match?

I've had a Highway One precision for about 3-4 years now, hands down the best Fender I've played. I love the nitro finish and mine has got a bit beaten up but that's how I like it. £450 is definitely worth it, I think I payed something like £650 for mine new and I don't regret it at all. I went down the route of changing the pickups to a set of Delano's with the long name, big pole pieces. I had them in for a while but put the originals back in and love the stock pickups more so sold the Delano's. I would say go for it!
-
Yea that's very true, the fact it's got a nut and 4 strings is more than some listings I've seen

I had one of the newer Bass Terror 1000s through a Barefaced Super 12 and I did the valve change and it was really easy and made it sound so much better. Just so you know with the settings all at 12 that isn't actually flat on this amp. I played punk and I think I had the Bass on about 9o clock, Mid at Max and Treble at 11o clock and that gave a really nice tone that I liked. Going from cab to cab with the same amp is going to give a different sound, due to how sensitive the speakers are and what speakers are being used etc Check out the 'Re-valving the bass terror' thread in the repairs section, a lot of good info about how to change the valves!

Ah ha! Well spotted! I know it's only £25 but surely you would notice that taking the pictures and then put it back in the nut?
How does the bridge compare to the Badass out of interest?
To be honest it seems exactly the same, I haven't had to adjust it so haven't seen if the saddles bottom out like I've heard the badass can do

Did a little mod to this last night, I was surprised that you couldn't select to have that classic jazz sound, the single coil selection was the two outer coils which wasn't the classic jazz sound as the coils are in different positions to a normal jazz and was my least favourite position. All I did was turn the pickups around so now when I select the outer coils they are now the inner coils, I measured and the space was 7.5cm between the pickups on my VM Squier. With the pickups turned round the right coils are now 7.5cm apart and give that classic jazz bass sound I was looking for!

Is it me or from fret 1-7 the A and D strings look really far apart?
-
Thanks Lozz This won't help with the gas, but just get it! I found myself just playing on it for ages tonight and is effortless to play!

Funnily enough I used to use two Trace 4x10s and for one gig due to height issues, we where in a low gazebo, I separated the cabs on the stage, which was handy as for a few songs the misses played keyboard and we didn't have a stand so used one of my cabs which was pretty much behind me inline with the drummer. I really don't know why but I put the other cab right on the other side which had my amp on it. I couldn't hear anything I was playing. Every other gig before and after that I stacked them vertically which I massively preferred!

Got this yesterday in trade for my midnight wine Fender Highway One : What a bass! The satin finish is great, the neck is really nice but I will lightly sand the back of it just to make it even better, it sounds really good too. Still getting my head around the pickup selection and what they actually do, but my favourite position is the lowest on the knob it goes which I think is both humbuckers on. Sounds like a jazz with a few roids pumped into it! It goes very nicely with my sunburst Fender Highway One :

Traded my Highway One Precision for Craig's Modern Player Satin Jazz. Great bass and was packaged nicely! Craig was really quick with replying to messages and everything ran really smoothly. Really nice bloke and have no worries about dealing with him again in the future! Thanks Mark

Surely metal fans only need one fret and all strings tuned to low E? Only joking, sometimes metal bassists push the boat out and use the 2nd fret
