I've ordered a 1-Ply black scratchplate for my strat and I'm going to take out the middle PUP and the two tone knobs as I don't use them. So I'll tape over the holes with some black eleccy tape like I did on my Highway P, which to me looks mighty fine

I'm looking for low gain drive, something that sounds like a valve amp being pushed slightly, like a Trace Elliot V6 or an Ampeg for example. I'm looking at these two because they have the EQ shaping which I think I'm really missing from the Ultimate Drive. I've checked out the super JOYO thread on talkbass and there was quite a lot of mention about the American pedal but not the British one. Anyone got any experience with either of these or any advice as to which one to get? I will also be using it with my guitar, which I like the Marshall sound so that would be a point for the British pedal. Thanks!

I tried this but my wires for the middle pup are too short, would I be able to get the same selection by switching the red and white wires from the middle and neck pup on the selector switch?

I turned both pickups round, so when the upper pickup selection thinks it's using the outer coils it's actually using the inner coils, which for me gave me the sound I was hoping to get from the bass!

I'm all for wear and tear, but seriously that has just been destroyed

I don't like GAK's demos, too much talking and not enough playing. 'A really good clean session sound' - doesn't sound like it to me.

If it is down to changing strings I would of thought there would be some logo left? Sadly the amp and cab are stuck together so it makes it that little bit harder to carry......... I always have the bass volume on max and for those I think the volume was on 4-5, I haven't really taken it passed there as that's loud enough for just playing at home. The battery compartment on mine rattles when it's up really loud, so I've just taken it off. Just checked and with the gain on 0 I can have the volume on around 6-7 and it's fine but much passed that and the speakers start getting a little bit farty, but that's not that loud. With a guitar you can get it a lot louder and there's no farty noises when in clean, obviously with the gain up it distorts. But as a little amp just to play around at home it is great, I mainly use it to record guitar but also play my bass through it quite often too. I'll get some recording of my guitar as well so you can hear what it's like, I don't use the tone knob on the amp, I find that at 12 o'clock is where it sounds best.

Just trying to work out how to post a recording I've done, it's an MP3 but comes up as some weird file type when I attach it on here. I've tried using soundcloud but I put my login details in, then it asks for them again with that silly capcha thing then it doesn't do anything.
