1. Me too please? Fab idea mate. Thanks Andy
2. How's about this then? pale bluey lovelyness with a kinda ska type vybe going on.......oh and one of my band stickers (optional but can send if you really want hahahaha)
3. I bought this recently from EBay as it not only looked ace and wasn't expensive but when it arrived, it also played like a dream. I have subsequently spent a few bob updating it with EMG pickups, a Hipshot Supertone bridge and replacement pickup surrounds, pickguard bracket, switch, jack socket, truss rod cover and speed knobs plus all screws as well as having the original machine heads re plated back to gold. I think it looks great now and have of course kept all the originals to swap back should a future sale be necessary. Here's a few before and after pics. I hope you like it. It honestly plays really nicely and the condition is amazing considering its age. Will allow me to give the Rickenbacker a rest for a while whilst posing like a rock god!!! (and yes, it will be suitably low slung to aid posturing!) Andy
4. I have played there and the sound is very nice. Can't comment on the quality of the dancefloor as I was on stage but people seemed happy enough. Considering the musice we play, perhaps the dacefloor is not quite as crucial an issue as for salsa dancing! Watch out for a guy called Kenny who plays bass with Corinne Bailey Rae who is often playing there (they have bands on both upstairs and downstairs at the same time), you may already know him but he is freakin fantastic. Enjoy mate Andy

7.
Hiya, It is an Ampeg SVT-810e Classic. Link: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1234...g-svt-810e.html Hey Steve, thanks for the kind words. Just think, if you did buy it... you could compare sizes with SK8! andy
If you havent tried one, these are fantastic and undoubtedly the best cabs I have ever used. The sound is awesome and they are remerkably portable with the tip back wheels. Great price too. Go on, someone deserves this.....Andy
8.
Thanks Andy, if the tray takes up too much room we'll try that. Just out of interest is your Rivoli a vintage job or one of the more recent re-issues? I had an early 60's Tobacco one back in the '80s (which naturally I regret selling) and I was debating picking up a re-issue.
Hiya, no its a later one. It looks gorgeous but doesnt play especially well. I generally play the Ricky but have just bought a 70's Les paul Bass Copy which plays ace so will get some play once I have finished setting it up Cheers Andy
9. For what it's worth, I use the Freeport Guitar system withe an almost identical receiver. I use double sided Velcro to hold it in my rack and it works a treat, solid as a rock Great price these though Andy
10.
The carved top plays havoc with that idea - the area would have to be built up or carved into, neither of which are trivial jobs. I've got it going the way I like it now (with the gold tooth) so I think I'll just leave it. If I was going to do anything, I would rather install a separate bridge/tailpiece like some Gibson Les Pauls have (rather Warwick like). But it would involve filling, redrilling and probably refinishing. Far too much effort for such an inexpensive bass.
Hi buddy, bass looks ace. Just bought an Antoria LP and looking to replace the PUPs. Did your EMGs just fit the standard humbucker pup surrounds? The EMGs look great. Sound good? Andy
11.
Tidy??? Is this the one that was up in the JapCrap thread??
Dunno - could have been. I was a bit hesitant given it absolutely could have been a duffer but reckoned I could shift it on if this was the case. I couldnt be more pleased though as it's turned out. Not often you buy something that sounds worse than it is!
12. Courtesy of EBay, arrived yesterday in bl@@dy great condition. All parts there, most of the gold plating has disappeared but most importantly (and the bit I was most worried about) the neck is straight as a die, the condition is fab considering it's age and it sounds lovely. Just ordered a Hipshot Supertone bridge from the US as the crappy 3 point is rubbish but aim to debut it at a gig on 16th fingers crossed. The neck is a bit narrow and I found myself catching other strings accidentally but will get used to that after a couple of practices. May end up replacing the Pups as there seems no change in the tone when adjusting. Any suggestions on what with? It is such a sexy looking thing I couldnt resist it! Have promised my wife I will sell something to make room........probably.......hahahaha

14. Another from the "covers that should banned" from us is Teenage Kicks or Alright by Supergrass. Am sick of playing Teenage but the audiences love and it's their saturday night after all......click, click, snare kick, snare kick......etc
15.
MB1. Sending you a PM now!
Guys, I dont have an axe to grind but even after the first debacle I had with these guys, I still went back for another as, once you get past the ordering and delivery problems, the quality is good. Second case experience not much better. Submitted the order, then entered into email with Shaun and agreed (at his suggestion) an alternative style. Case arrived late as I kind of expected and guess what?, was made in the original style!! Contacted him and eventually he says had lost emails. Would I like another remaking? yes please I said. This was the last I heard and was months ago.......If it ever turns up, it can be a cover for the kids rabbit hutch ! I will never use them again. The guy seems nice but business practices clearly need some work. It's not as if there are no alternative suppliers eh?
16. For what it's worth I have both a TU2 and a Korg DTR 2000 rackmount tuner and in my view the Korg knocks spots off the Boss. The Boss does that waver around a lot where it either doesn't respond to the note OR doesn't pick up on the key (floats around A, D etc when fine tuning the E) The Korg on the other hand is perfect. Also the Mute function is great. Only my opinion but Korg for me everytime Andy
17. I have a shallow 2U on top of my amp with a Korg Tuner and the wireless. Also contains a multi plug socket so i have a single plug going in to the power source. Works perfectly and nice and neat PLUS protects both the tuner and wireless unit. Andy
18. My band use a pair of these. They are bloomin fab. Definitely recommend em. Never ever have to use Par Cans again Andy
19. Yeah is usually pretty good. Gets bloomin packed and the dealers find fiendish ways to extract the cash from your pockets! Bargains to be had though See you Bass Chatters there then Andy
20. Yep, I got it. And looking forward to reading it shortly then it'll be winging it's was to the next lucky 4 stringer Andy
21.
I pulled at a party where my jazz funk band were playing - miraculously managing to chat up the girl while I was playing... no idea how I did it but I've not managed to repeat the trick since...
I have had the occasional drunken female mongy blathering on but mainly get blokes telling me that they also play guitar (rarely bass) and could have been in a band except for etc, etc..... ......once played in Pontefract and got some old geezer telling me his mates had been in a band in the 60s but he couldnt be arsed ! I loved that one Mind you, I am singer/bassist so perhaps it's that? hehehehe
22.
Can I have a go, please?
Posted to Discreet (hope that's Mark Smith) 11 July Hope you enjoy buddy Who is next then? Is a cracking read Andy
23. Hi Ian, paid earlier today so watch out for the payment (Bank Transfer) Cheers Andy (let me know if there are any probs)
24.
Well, I found myself with a load of Neutrik switched jacks (the type with little wee switches in them that eliminate the plug/unplug 'thump') from a studio project that never got finished, so I bought myself a load of van Damme cable and spent tonight soldering! So, for your pleasure, I've got four of each of 3m, 5m and 7m jack-to-jack Van Damme cables with Neutrik switched jacks: 3m = £6 delivered 5m = £8 delievered 7m = £10 delivered Knock a quid off each if you want more than one - total quality cables, you wouldn't get Stagg stuff for these kinda prices! I've also got what might be 40m of van Damme cable left over if anyone wants to make me an offer for it...this is purely a 'getting rid of stuff' exercise, I'm really not going to be making much money off of 'em!
Can I have 3 x 7M please bro? How do you want paying? Andy
25.
Where is it?
Could be in the ether between BassKS and Rich?
