In 2012 I spent many evenings at the NHM, V&A and Science Museum with the Mastercard Lates and Priceless nights, so I'm very familiar with those museums. If you guys are going to play on the landing of the main staircase, that's going to be magic.Expect my usual billion photos...

This (currently fully clothed) female bass player has been plugging the comps on Twitter. I'll start plugging the Recording subforum in its entirety as well. Thing is, not all our Twitter followers are actually BC members, so I think it'd be nice for the comp and the subforum to be plugged on Facebook too, as more of those followers are BC members too.

I have an NXT 5 and a bow. To answer your question, it is perfectly possible to bow it, despite the bridge being pretty low by DB standards, as the body is rounded and thin. Personally, I find it a lot more fun to bow my Harley Benton EUB, which has a neck/fingerboard/bridge setup which is more similar to a real DB. But bowing can be done on any EUB, I'm sure. As for "a bow is a bow is a bow", that's not true, as our experts above have said. French and German are two different ways of gripping a bow, and each kind of grip requires a different type of bow. I'm happy with French, as I'm prone to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my left (bowing) wrist and the French grip seems less taxing from that point of view. Your mileage may vary. Fact - bowing is unfeasibly cool

Nearly all Warwick models and nearly all Overwater models are available left-handed, with no surcharge in Warwick's case. And the expensive version of the cheap Höfner in my avatar is of course the original lefty model to end 'em all

The impression I'm getting from this thread is that our membership is clearly divided into those who consider this site as a community, and don't mind giving their time and/or money just as a thank you for being part of it, and those who look at the forum mostly from the utilitarian point of view of shifting gear at the best possible price and don't seem to assign that much value to pure "bass chat", banter, advice, etc. The latter group is clearly a bit miffed at the newly introduced fees. Basschat's owners, admins and mods are having to deal with two forces pulling in roughly opposite directions, and that can't be easy if, as they're doing at present, they try to keep both of them more or less satisfied.

Love the photo, Andy! I'm also in the same club as the happy owner of an NXT (mine's a 5er). Just to show that I do have my own Basschat T-shirt now, in the correct size an' all ( ), another pic, this time from November 2012. There are several more photos of me in action wearing BC lanyards and holding posters and whatnot in my LBGS blog (link in my sig if you're not already sick of it!).

I haven't sold or bought anything in the Marketplace here yet (I tend to buy new from shops, what with liking shiny new things and being a lefty etc.etc.[size=3] etc. [/size] [size=1]etc.[/size] ....) but I have donated money twice and given lots of my time on an ongoing basis - and I still feel I'm the one who's in debt to BC. Go figure...

I agree. But I wonder, in practice, how BC (the mods or all of us, the membership) can stop that, once email addresses have been exchanged by PM.

And how many "unofficial" deals are made by PM when someone posts on non-Marketplace forums about "just wondering how much this bass/cab/amp/effect might sell for"?
