1.
post a link...much easier
I refer to our stuff as 'heavy rock' but many others call it 'metal' ... we do whatever we want I guess ... judge for yourselves. http://www.myspace.com/orchidrockband Si
 2. Had this one in my hands earlier today .. definitely a nice jazz, didn't plug it in but still .. not sure if I'm gonna bid myself (got 2 jazzes already) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=tab%3DWatching He also had a 30 year old Stingray .. nice & battered/used looking (in a good way) .. bet he doesn't sell that one ! Guys name is James (really nice fella) .. told him about basschat, so you might see some more Signatures (got 2 more). Si
 3. I use a 6pack & 9B .. hifi quality .. and do actually play heavy rock (metal I suppose) but not distorted (don't really class myself as a bassist (yet) used to play guitar). I love this stuff but I guess it's a bit unorthodox (5" speakers), no problem getting 'bass' tones though. I've had & played a few other rigs (maybe not all pro) but found a lot of them to be too muddy/boomy .. tight n punchy is more what I'm after but I'm still reasonably new to all of this. Some sound guys have complimented my rig (makes their job easier I guess) but as I was on stage I'm not sure how it sounded to the punters (had no bad comments .. well at least not about my 'sound' lol) Two amp specialists commented - 1 said it was a nice bit of kit (M500), well put together but was unfamiliar with PJB & another who knows PJB stuff thought it was all military grade (which can't be bad). Don't think many people use PJB .. personally I like clarity .. might even add another 9B if I can find one cheap enough. Great customer service as well .. Phil answers emails personally .. if I could buy it all again I'd probably go for the M500 head and 2x9B cabs or maybe the new neo ones. Portability was also an issue at the time. Best to try as many rigs as possible but doing this in shops is not always a real reflection of what they're gonna sound like in a proper band mix. Also, if you see a band & like the bass sound it could be the next time you see them the bass doesn't sound as good .. even with the same rig/setup .. either way, if you get the chance, ask the bassist about his setup etc .. most will probably like talking about it. I guess it's a never ending quest searching for that ultimate tone ..... and I thought guitar player were bad ! Read all the reviews you like (Harmony-Central / BGRA / Basschat / Talkbass etc) but they are only a guide. If you see anything you like 2nd hand & it's fairly cheap .. might be worth buying but if you're going for the 'high end' gear I'd rather buy new with warranty. If you're anywhere near Bradford you can come & have a go on mine ! Simon
 4.
Hey everyone, a bass playing mate of mine suggested posting here and I've seen a few ads for drummers so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm looking to join a band (covers but will consider originals too) to have some fun and gig fairly regularly. I like rock - Pearl Jam, Led Zep, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Nirvana, the Foos, Queens of the Stone Age.....and on and on - but I also like to play blues, funk, soul.....basically any cracking songs that'll get people going! I'm 32, have been playing for about 3 and a half years and am grade 5 standard (not that that matters particularly, I'm just trying to give an idea of my ability). I was in a covers band for a couple of years so I have played in front of real people. I think I have a good ear and usually pick stuff up pretty quickly, I'm reliable and will put the effort in, and I have a car so I can get my kit wherever it needs to be. If it sounds like I might be what you're looking for it would be great to hear from you! Cheers!
PM'd
 5.
Nice one, how long was delivery?
Order was put in on 29th April .. say about 10 days. Si
 6. Just received a package from US .. was hoping to avoid import duty & VAT ... and did !! Description 'music accessory' with a value of $20. Inside was the following - - 2 sets DR Strings Fat Beams Medium Bass strings - 2 sets D'Addario EPS165 ProSteels Bass strings - 2 sets D'Addario EXL165 Electric Bass strings - 2 sets D'Addario ESXL170 Double Ball End Bass strings - 2 sets Rotosound RS55LD Electric Bass strings - 1 set Rotosound RS77LD Monel Flatwound Electric Bass strings I also wrote the following to them, didn't get a reply but thought I'd chance it anyway ... 'have added an extra set but reckon this wont affect the shipping cost of $21 .. will shortly use 'buy it now' & await an invoice as stated. I realize I might have to pay import duty & UK vat but ask (if possible) if you could mark the package as 'gift or spare part' & possibly list the value lower ? (guitarpartsresource recently did this on a badass bridge for me & I paid nothing extra !) .. if I get away with it I'll post on basschat.co.uk forum ! If however this is against your policy .. I understand.' Invoice $232.94 shipping $21 (combined) Total $253.94 £129 !!!! Hope Mr. Taxman's not a bass player on this forum !! Can't guarantee you'll get away with it but I calculated that even if you don't they're still cheaper than UK prices but I'm sure some of you know places to get em too ! 12. I've dealt with Thomann quite a lot & the only thing you must do is keep the original packaging ! For at least 30 days. They offer 30-day money back guarantee .. was at one point gonna send cab back but had binned the packaging .. it would have cost me £40 ! This doesn't apply for 'faulty' items btw .. if it's broken or faulty you don't need the original packaging & they arrange a courier & doesn't cost anything ! Si
 13. Hi there, I'm a RUSH fan & use Phil Jones !! welcome Si

 18.
I've often wondered if the Badass is not another Basschat bandwagon that everyone jumps on. Ok the choices are limited for direct replacement without drilling new holes, but if Badass are so great, how come all the UK's custom builders dont use them.
Good point .. I was thinking the same about custom builders .. seem to go for Hipshot ! I'm after a new (string thru) bridge ... looking at Hipshot A &/or Badass III ? Anyone got a Hipshot Transtone ... any good ?
