2. Alles goed gozer ? En welkom ... groetjes Si
3. Spoke to Andrew today (about delivery of a bass he bought off me a while back) .. apparently he's been a bit poorly, so for those of you who know Andrew it might be nice to send him a quick 'hello' or something ... cheers Simon
4.
Okay (creak as loft door closes)
If only you'd done this when we'd been PM'ing about valve heads .. I'd av taken one Steve !! good luck mate Si
5.
http://www.myspace.com/orchidrockband cheers Si ps. all 9 tracks were done live @ studio (incl. mistakes lol) .. will go back soon & do some more .. wasn't really pleased with my bass sound .. way too deep .. not how it sounded when playing.
OK I know most stuff sounds pretty crap if you just play it through your computer's speakers but someone at least 'say' that !! Just for those you have had a listen (but not commented) ... Paulman custom jazz bass - Nordstrand Big Singles (brilliant btw) Markbass Classic 300 & 610 cab (also fantastic) DI - sounded more natural than anticipated, Mic'd - bit disappointing DI & mic mixed (not by me) together but no way captured what I heard so will try using my own Shure sm57 next time cos that sounds great (10-20ft away) & will make sure the sound guy (young lad new to this) has a neutral eq to start with or less bass than recorded here ... it's a learning curve but we all agreed it was a better way of recording ie playing live opposed to separately .. unless you spend big bucks .. ! Yes you get bleed over & any mistakes are captured but you do bounce of eachother & (hopefully) get a groove going (or rock in our case) like at a gig rather than the sterile 'booth' type recordings .. it's only a demo afterall ! cheers Si
6. No comments as yet .. ??

8. - 4 piece alder body (sanded / stained was a bit battered) - maple neck (stained) rosewood fretboard - pots/plate & badass II from Geddy Lee - Fender Noiseless pups frets a bit on 12th so have raised action but could do with leveling .. has a ss scratchplate but also have white Geddy if you want .. not a bad bass esp. for a beginner .. would prefer pickup (delivery cost not incl.) cheers Si
9.
Here's a pic of mine, it's got an ebony board not wenge, so this supports that paul has made few different ones (I think he said less than 10 or 12 the last time I spoke to him) I need a gig bag for mine if any one has one
It's not the 'curved/hourglass' model as pictured but I'd say a more modern look. Yes I know it's pretty vague but he hasn't got any pics but it sure does look nice. Apart from the wenge fretboard I don't know what other wood he used .. like I said just ask him. Si
10.
............................Not yours? No Pics? Not sure of the price? How would Paulman know which instrument is being discussed?..Perplexed
Ha .. lol ... well he is getting on a bit ! .. only got 1 EUB though ! Got some 5 strings for sale I believe .. best to give him a call. Si
11. Not mine but I said I'd post it on forum if anyone's interested .. no pics I'm afraid but it's well made .. think @ £450 but don't quote me ! Give give Paul a call rather than email (Paulman in Huddersfield) .. he'll be able to tell you all about it cos he made it ! 01484 542139 http://www.paulman.co.uk/ cheers Si
12.
i have finally cut down my choice of PUP's to either the SD's or the wizards. Anyone used both and can compare? Any help would be great thanks.
I had 1st Fender Noiseless then SD QP then Wizard 84's on my Warmoth jazz .. Wizards sound the best to my ears .. more character (perhaps a bit brighter than other 2) .. however I put some Nordstrand Big Singles in other jazz .. they're my favourites ones ! Si
13.
On the back of Mikey's dairy and course threads, I figured I ought put one up ready for photos and the like. I'm attending Jon Shukers workshop in July also. My plans are 5 string Jazz in satin red stain with black Gotoh hardware all over and thinking about an East J-retro Preamp. The trouble is I can't decide whether to have a black scrtach plate and the black control board or go au-naturale and have neither? I love the straight line of descending size pots look, and the East has a three-band mid-sweepable EQ on stacked pots in chrome or black. Other than that, 34 inch scale, 22/24 frets, 3 up, 2 down tuners and Seymour Duncan Vintage PUPs. Any recommendations? Cheers Chris
I recently sold my moded GL jazz to Will (2x18) & that has black control & really nice texalium scratchplate .. he might have some better pics than me by now .. also I'd consider the Nordstrand Big Singles (got them in EMG 35 size) .... good luck with the build ! Si
14.
Cab is as new condition 4 ohms and flight cased. The head is also flight cased and as new. Looking for a markbass rig thats in the same condition. 6 x 10 cab with a 500 watt plus head.
Your current rig sounds (on paper) pretty good .. can't comment on that but I have a MB Classic + 610 ..... haven't had it long but every time I keep saying ''what a sound !'' unbelieveable !! Am currently looking at the MB R500 to go in this 15 2U combo I've got & take as spare at important (or paid ! lol) gigs .. bet that sounds great with the 610 ! So sorry .. not looking at trades but thought I'd just give you my opinion of the MB rig ! cheers Si
15. Looking for £50 for Kappa (each) & £30 for Gamma (each) .. not sure about delivery charges (Kappa's are over 7kg!) .. would prefer pickup or could deliver myself if not too far .. if interested in trades just let me know what you've got ... http://www.bkelec.com/Pro/Drive_Units/Emin.../KappaPro10.htm http://www.bkelec.com/Pro/Drive_Units/Eminence/Gamma10.htm cheers Si
16. Seem to have been removed .. guess I'll have to take some myself if anyone wants to see it but you'd be better off coming & trying it out ! Si
17. As the topic description states .. same quality but need something lighter to go in my combo (2U !!) .. pref >8kg ...... Si
18. Funny you should mention the Schroeder coz I have the cab but not the head ! ... Almost did a deal with Jesse for his Ampeg head but he changed his mind ... pity coz I bet they would have sounded ace together ! (+ I'd have probably saved 2k & not bought the Markbass rig but wouldn't go back now !) 410 or 212 but @ 4Ohms might do the trick ?! Si
19. Having the proper tools does help .. just make sure you rout the holes out enough .. actually only split it not totally broken off but stays in tune just fine now .. well ask Will in a year or two !! Si
