1. Hey Kiwi, Welcome to BC. +1 on StingRay, Jazz Bass, Jamiroquai and RHCP, and I apologise deeply for not knowing any better waterholes in or around Edinburgh. Enjoy the forum! all the best, bert
2.
Thread over, we found out who the bigger man was.
Did we? There's several lines of communication here, and several levels. We can not know everything that would answer who the bigger man really is, as some of this communication clearly is meant to change the audience's mind rather than the other part's. All the best, Bert
3.
Playing bass with a pick or fingers which gives more groove? which shows you are more talented? which is more respected?
Hi Alex, Welcome to BC! I hope you'll like this site. It's a great place to be, mostly. We've actually had this question discussed one month ago. You can read everything here: http://basschat.co.u...-dont-use-picks . Maybe someone has told. I haven't read the thread. Me, I'm a beginner since october last year, and I use my fingers because I never remember to find my picks. I've got 10 or 12 different picks to test and to learn from, but I simply keep forgetting. So: All the coolest and most well-respected bass players always forget their picks! Enjoy! all the best, bert
4. Well, you guys certainly have bigger mouths than insights. The headstock totally gives it away. It's the new Freudsic that will be released next year, realising last year's Precise Bass was just that: precise. They're slanting the body so standing waves have no grip on it, and as a result, the middle and treble finally will be audible. Solution: It's a 2013 Freudsic Auditory Bass best, bert
5.
That will teach me to drink vodka in the week. Sorry guys went off on one a bit there. I realise you are only trying to help.
All is forgiven. Just don't make a habit out of drinking vodka in the week. You can't muster it. What you need is drinking only whisky in the week. You realise I'm only trying to help, yes? best, bert

Damn! ChrisB has been taken! Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh. Welcome to BC, Chris! Just ask your stupid questions. I'll be there to give you stupid answers. Then just remember to translate everything to the opposite, and you'll be fine. All the best, Bert
7.
OK this thread was actually about replacing my Amplug which I've found! Not remotely interested in whether or not you can get an app or a laptop to work folks. I have my lovely wife to do that...Sorry, though I will say if you are still using a PC and not a Mac, I can neither understand nor be held responsible.
Huh?
8.
Which cable do you need for this iPhone business? Saw one in HMV, but seemed pricey.
Yup, some are pricey, but then again the apps perform wonderfully and can be had for peanuts. There are different cables for the iPhones and iPads, and I'm working on a list right now, but quickly and unfinishedly: 1) iRiffPort cable uses digital dock contact. Good sound quality. Expensive. Works with at least 4 different amps and their eventual effect pedals. 2) iRig cable uses analogue port (the combines input /headphone out). Lesser sound quality. Cheaper. Works with at least 2. 3) AmpKit cable uses analogue port. Cheap. Don't know yet what it works with other than the Peavey amp. I'll get back to this with a more worked out overview. best, bert
9. Hi Eljay, Welcome to BC. I'm sure you're very welcome despite all y'all wasn't that nice to the King a few centuries ago. Oh, and it's spelled "humour" and "colour"! You have some stuff I've never even heard of. How 'bout posting a few pics for us to enjoy? I hope you'll thrive on here. All the best, Bert
10. Hi Nabba, Welcome to BC! Just dumb down and you'll be OK. Reduce to three tone chords and drop solo shredding. Simples. BTW, we do love guitards here - with a vengeance. Enjoy the forum! All the best, Bert
11. As to impact, I think I know a little, but still not enough. A friend of mine had undone his belt and slept lying in the backseats when the car crashed doing roughly 50 mph. My friend was in a coma for half a year or so, and has sustained damages for life - unable to work or move freely, and unable to attract females. Myself, I had some plank in the car once. Had to brake to avoid a front to front collision. The plank stopped inside the other car, luckily avoiding both me and the other driver on its path. Carefully strapping any gear or using real solid prison bar systems sounds like a great idea to me. best, bert
12. Sorry, I can't love it, as I don't know how it's done. That said, I've loved the low end as long as I can remember, and have used every opportunity after that to move the wires on every bass I could get my hands on. As relayed earlier, I "taught" a friend how to play "Games Without Frontiers" without being able to play the bass myself. Even was the "bassist" at one or two very short performances when a band's real bassist wasn't there. That was a matter of remembering where to place my fingers, and not actual bass playing. Invested in my first own bass last October or so, making my attempts history one of nine months. best, bert Did I say I'm loving it?
13.
What actually was the problem using it with Android?
Reportedly, and also IME, stuff just lags too much. Personally I've had a lag of 29ms, which is not very musical. I don't know whether it's the OS workload or the presence of too many background programs which one can't shut down without a degree in Android, but reportedly it's not the main processor that is the problem here. Maybe a specialised side processor - if present. Idunno. It was interesting to hear that people are satisfied with the iRig / AmpliTube combination. I may try that. Since we're talking apps and cables anyway, how about trying to get an overview? Unless it's been done here before, that is. I can try and compile a list of cables and amps with their features. best, bert
14.
Google google.......... blimey!
I have the luxury version with zero fret. Great low B on these, coz it's all down to build quality. best, bert
15. Wow, that became a great story. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on the experience. You've got that in your pocket whatever happens next. best, bert
16. Hi Chuggs, Welcome to BC! I feel you're a natural here - not being able to dance 'n' stuff. Enjoy! best, bert
17. OK, so they're the most important band of my life, but that doesn't mean I have to endure everything they did the last fourty years after a fantastic burst between '71 and '74. I'm definitely not even going to check it out, as I've zero belief that there's anything remotely interesting on there. Relayer - now that's a different story! And songs like Siberian Khatru! Awesome! I even like Going for the One, Tormato, ABWH and Union as well as some 90125, so it's not as if I'm impossible to please.
18.
Mr Bungle..... everything and anything....
Bah! You only say that coz you love them as much as I do. best, bert
19. Samla Mammas Manna, a Swedish prog band. Their music ranges from humouristic folk-like stuff to Henry Cow live craze, and they know exactly how much to deviate from theory - both compositionwise and playingtightwise. I lurv them to death. They go under three names: Samla Mammas Manna Zamla Mammaz Manna von Zamla Here's a nice, sympathetic something from the von Zamla period. Hi all

Bonjour Julien, Bienvenue au forum! Votre anglais est très bon, mais nous ne comprenons pas ces lignes:
Lakland 55-94 delux bass Ampeg SVT 4 Ampeg PR-410HLF Ampeg SVT 210HE Ampeg SVT15E Vovox and Fodera jacks.
C'est trop difficile pout nous. Va bien, et à la prochaine fois, all the best, bert (ca veut dire: bertrand)
21. Wow, what a tone, WB. I think someone secretly slid some tonewood into your bass. best, bert
22. If you have an iPhone, then the Gallien-Krueger app might do for you. You'd need a cable that most probably is more expensive than the Amplug, but OTOH, this is way more flexible and gives way better sound. Other apps do roughly the same, like GarageBand and iShred Live, which both incorporate a choice of amps and effect pedals. best, bert
23. Hi Noia, Welcome to BC. Thanks for reminding me that SD Curlee existed/exist. Pics? Enjoy the banter! best, bert
24. Hey Dan, Welcome! Enjoy the talk, and share your wisdom freely. all the best, bert
