  1. @acidbass - you might be SOL there. They only seem to do them in black on their own website and seem to use Babicz solo rails on their own basses.
  2. I think part of the problem is not wanting to necessarily pay for the tooling to create a bespoke bridge for what might (at least in Spector's case) be a niche seller. Dingwall seem to be going great guns so it has made sense to create something. There aren't a lot of off the shelf options for single bridges either and I'm guessing Babicz pricing might price them out of being used more widely as it squeezes the margin just that bit more.
  3. The bridge was a Hipshot part. It's a decent product, but it's got a sharp edge which only becomes an issue when palm muting. I'd say it's equivalent to using a tunomatic bridge on a Les Paul comfort wise. It's ok, but it could be more comfortable. For 2025, they've reworked the bridge entirely into somethig more like their Canadian models and will be doing an aftermarket upgrade for existing users should they want to. When I bought my Combustion, it was £1350. Not cheap, but not the prices they command now. I feel like the hardware is catching up to the price point now.
  4. We've organised Temple of Doom for this Saturday. We've tried to bring in some bigger bands in the scene and we're playing in the middle of the thing. Should be a fun day!
  5. As far as I'm aware from a Dingwall FB group, it's a straight swap. There was a gap over the grounding hole on earlier versions but I think @Bass Direct's current stock covers the hole. I've been very tempted myself.
  6. Ooooh, we're trying to work out how to play Desertfest at some point! Glad you had a good time! I'll give you guys a listen.
  7. The setup of most of these multi effects units is fairly similar really. Just take it effect by effect. You want an overdrive? Test all of them and see what suits you best. A chorus? Same deal. Rinse and repeat untill you've got a patch together. It does take longer than just getting a pedal and putting it on a board because there are more options, but it affords you the opportunity to try a lot of things out. I'm using an amp sim with no cab for a distortion - sounds great to my ears! I used my GX-100 as a pedalboard for a long time, turning on and off effects on the one patch. I've recently decided to spend a bit more time setting up presets for different sections of songs so I can step through them. As you get more familiar with any device you can get it doing new things in time. That's where the real power lies, but there's not necessarily a need to rush to that end game. You'll probably have been through this with your B3, but it's been so long that you've gotten comfortable with it. It can be good to challenge yourself with something new. It keeps the old grey matter ticking over.
  8. I don't have any personal experience, but I've seen some gold wrapped pickups before on a white/black swirl NG3. Looked sick. It should work. I think the trick to getting the curves looking good is using a hair dryer to make it more pliable. Or get a car wrap specialist to do it maybe?
  9. Small update to the board, I've been tasked with triggering samples in-between songs, so I've put our Jamman on the board. It's a bit of a beast in both size and weight (1kg!). But, despite the claim on the back of the thing that it needs 1300mA it seems to be fine with 500mA! That means I can use the last output on my power supply and not have to work out other arrangements. 🥳 It's a bit of a pain to get to though. Toppers have been added to help me identify play and stop as I got a little confused under stage lights and the white text disappeared. Really, I'd like a Boss RC-5, switch the samples via midi from my GX-100 and just use the foot switch as an on/off pedal. Alas, funds do not allow!
  10. Unfortunately not. I'd love to get my hands on one though!
  11. Message Brian here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/earlpilanz
  12. Well, that's very interesting. And I happen to have a 5 string neck waiting for a body... Let's see what bad decisions I might make!
  13. There's an easy(ish) method on the Tone3000 website. Download an audio file, send that through the gear, upload the recording and they work it out. I guess you'd need to do a bit of matching, but it shouldn't be too bad. https://www.tone3000.com/capture
  14. Free reverb available till the 22nd of May here: https://www.soundtoys.com/product/spaceblender/ SpaceBlender is your portal to a new dimension of space and time effects. It’s an experimental reverb that lets you create unreal and imaginary spaces – shapes, textures, and tones otherwise impossible in the real world. Not had a chance to have a play yet, but the site I found it on said that another reverb hasn't impressed them the same way since Valhalla (which is also free and worth having for all of your psychedelic space sounds!).
  15. Yeah... We played with them at the Dopethrone gig and they're really good and a nice bunch of guys. Their logo is like a magic eye though. You've got to know what you're looking for!
  16. We're second on for Saturday, 2:30. Wallowing (Saturday headliners) are well worth checking out if you're there too.
  17. I stand corrected by my previous post. I've fancied a jazz bass recently. My first bass was a jazz bass copy, but it could literally be used as an anchor during a tropical storm so I don't regret moving it on. However, I've got a hankering for that familiar tone. I've tried out a couple of Player IIs and they were really nice to play and sounded good to my ear, plus not a bad weight for either of them. I wouldn't say no to a jazz in the Aquatone Blue or Olympic White. They both made me feel like the £749 street price was probably worth it. I have never played a Sire for a comparison though.
  18. My neice got one of the new ones recently. It's really nice. Plays really well with a slim jazz neck profile. The out of the box setup was really good. Normal bridge, small tuners that seem to hold well and don't feel too cheap in use. The coral colour is very bright and no images that I've seen do it justice - almost fluorescent in person!
  19. Here's "me" at the studio!
  20. Well, I just had to look that up! https://metro.co.uk/2014/09/12/tesco-customer-orders-walnut-bread-receives-an-octopus-4866939/
  21. I noticed that too. A bit annoying. Boss do make a MIDI enabled expression pedal (EV-1-WL), but it's a bit spendy at £140. I still can't get on with the Darkglass tone though. That fizzy top end and seemingly disconnected low just doesn't sound good to me.
  22. I keep forgetting that I've got a cheap Chinese neck on a Variax that I've recently gutted after the electrics died. I had the neck fettled and fitted about 18 years ago. Some cheap necks are absolutely fine!
  23. Pom Poko at Bristol Beacon on Thursday the 5th of May. They always put on a great show! Seem to be getting bigger and bigger venues too. Last time I saw them it was at Thekla.
  24. I'm using it like a pedalboard into my head. I've got some extra dirt pedals in the effects loop too - some of the digital ones weren't quite doing it for me. I had a Zoom B3n before the GX which I added a load of the guitar stuff to. It wasn't a bad unit, but I wanted more footswitches and the inbuilt expression pedal. That's fun too. I've got it hooked up to delay times and feedback for some patches for general weird sounds between songs.
