  1. Laney have removed their content of his as well. On Friday they released a custom colour for the Lionheart Fountry with Giacomo all over the marketing. All pulled. Yikes.
  2. I've just got this back from my mum's house waaaaaaaaay too late. It's been in her understairs cupboard for about 15 years. I didn't do a dissertation as such. On our degree course, we did a final major project with quite a big project aspect to it and a smaller (but not insignificant) write up. I attempted to build a head a cab. The head never did work. Such is a lot of my struggles with electronics! The cab was hard to break though. I don't have any construction pics and can't remember if I put any dampening in it. The tweeter doesn't work either because I couldn't get the crossover to work. At least I managed to scrape a 2:1! It's loaded with two Celestion BN10-300X speakers, for an 8Ohm, 600W cab. Oh. And I couldn't get any tolex cheap enough and I didn't know about tuffcab, so it's covered in literal black carpet! The guys in Carpet Wright were a bit confused with why I wanted such a small amount of carpet! 😂 I have never really used it, but thought it was time to get it out of my mum's house. so I brought it home at the weekend. I've just had a quick try out this morning with my Terror Stamp and a guitar and a bass. It's quite clearly very bassy, but it doesn't sound terrible with either. Tempted to see if the Mrs will let me keep this and get rid of the Orange Crush 35R I've got as a practice thing. I'm also very tempted to use it as a bi-amping rig...
  3. Big oooof from me! That's stunning.
  4. You'll need to put a cable or something in the input of your ABM. Ashdown amps usually have a switching jack for the input that mutes the output. Something like a 3.5mm to 1/4” headphone adapter would do the job.
  5. That's lovley that is!
  6. Isn't that tomorrow night? I'm just listening to their new album at the moment. It's cool, should be a good show! I'm a bit sad I can't make it.
  7. Reallly good practice last night. Got most of a new song arranged and found a use for shimmer reverb in a doom band. Less good was the guitarist (Adam), who usually picks up the guitarist/singer messaging at 5:20 wondering if someone else can pick him up when we're practicing at 6 and I've only got 20 minutes at home after doing the nursery run to burn my tongue on some dinner and then head out. Drummer didn't respond. So I had to go pick him up. Turns out Adam finished work at 3 yesterday. Had plenty of time. Bastard.
  8. I've been using the Fat Tube bass preamp with no cab sim as an overdrive/fuzz with great success on my GX-100. I've also got some general EQ going on. Boosted around 1k for a bit of grind and cut some mids around 350Hz. Also worth a try...
  9. I think you might be overestimating the number of young people watching TV in order to see the adverts. Over 50% of 16-24 year olds are barely watching any live TV *, so the adverts are aimed to an older demographic, with whom the songs will resonate. *https://www.ofcom.org.uk/media-use-and-attitudes/media-habits-adults/gen-z-swerves-traditional-broadcast-tv-as-less-than-half-tune-in-weekly/
  10. You could also give the plugin a free trial to get a flavour for it. It's pretty close to the real thing and they've got IRs for all of the cabs. https://auroradsp.com/plugins/laney-digbeth-db500
  11. Pretty sure it's this...
  12. I love my Digbeth head. It'll do everything. It's so easy to get a good sound out of it. The tilt control is the secret sauce. You can make it darker or brighter with that while keeping the same base tone. I'm confident you'd be able to get a good slap sound from the amp. Not tried the cabs though, so can't comment there. @Dood had them in for review.
  13. I don't think it's got enough over the DB-500 to be worth the upgrade. I'm never wanting for power. The LAIR stuff on the DI and higher output is where I'm guessing the extra money goes. Though the master volume is a nice addition over the original. With a £600 price difference, I don't see them selling too many of these. I feel it's too much of a jump for niche features. I'm 100% sure it sounds great though.
  14. Well, it's VAT plus import tax. They do automatically add 19% VAT on their price listed on the configurator though, so that'd come off if buying direct before importing.
  15. I'd message Bass Direct with what you're after as they're a dealer. Do it all in the configurator, add it to the cart and then copy the spec into an email to them. Can't hurt to see what their price for that is. Otherwise, assume an additional 26% on the cost of the bass + shipping.
  16. Sheldon has been on record saying that they're working on a headless, but it's taking time to get a design that they're happy with. Also sounded like they were designing their own hardware.
  17. I wonder if the fit to the rear connectors isn't as perfect as it might perhaps be? I think I would try: Unscrewing the rear connections Fit that PCB to the main one Close the box Attempt to screw the the connectors back to the enclosure to pull it back into place And then do the enclosure bolts
  18. Fun fact, some chairs in fancy concert halls are designed to have the same absorbtion coefficient as people when folded so that the sound doesn't change from soundcheck to the show! Obviously a niche case and not a lot of use down the Dog and Duck, but I think it's cool!
  19. Because they sound worse for being at that longer scale length. It's the same principle as on a piano or a harp, the lower pitched strings are longer than high pitched ones. As a Dingwall owner, I'd say it's like the small amount of difference in an instrument that makes it feel different to others. It's not better or worse, it's just different. And it's a level of difference that only really matters to the player - the average audience member isn't realistically going to notice a sonic difference between a multiscale and standard scale bass. If that difference works for you, great. If not, move on.
  20. First port of call would be driving up to Bass Direct to get a D-Roc and a Spector Dimension. Maybe a Cort Space 5. While I'm there I may as well get a Canadian Dingwall ordered. Could also do with a Rickenbacker, a bass VI of some sort, an Alpher or two, a Stingray 5, a Gibson RD, and nice examples of a P and J. I'd also buy a rehersal space. Somewhere to keep the inevitable amp/cab collection where I can play them at volume. There'd be an SVT and an AD200B at the very least. A full compliment of Zilla cabs too. Add a 1x12, a offset vertical 4x12 and an 8x10. There'd be some pedal experimentation for sure too, probably with a MIDI loop switcher. I also very much like @BigRedX's vehicle and driver idea, which I would expand by adding roadies. Very simple and low key, I'm sure you'd all agree 😅
  21. One of the guitarists in my band has an Iommi SG on order with them. Deposit was paid in 2023. They're not responding to any emails. He should have had it late last year and they're just ignoring him. I keep telling him to call, but he's not taken my advice so far.
  22. The Digbeth heads don't get enough recognition either. I was in the studio a few weeks ago and the engineer brought out an SVT for me to go through. I did use it in the end, but I was A/Bing my Digbeth and the SVT and I was getting very similar tones from both. The guy was very surprised. I'd really like a Digbeth preamp to go on my board.
  23. I'm assuming it's a vinyl decal. I got one from eBay about 15 years ago for my Mustang. Still holding up well. Complete with @Cat Burrito's old couch strap too! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186906437450
  24. I'll be there again! 1. Rich - Trace Elliot TE-1200 amp, Barefaced Super 12T cab, earplugs , Shuker custom 5, other stuff TBC. 2. Woody - Rickenbacker 4004-L5, maybe Sei Flamboyant, Same old basschat 12" with some amp, other stuff TBC 3. Pinball (tbc) - some interesting basses 4. Stubsy - Joyo BadASS, GRBASS AT212 slim - only 50W but that should give 120dB at one metre 😇. (or I bring my TE 1110 combo). Some fun pedals. Perhaps the AVII 1960 precision, the Sire P10 and maybe the Fender Performer and something unexpected... 5. Sean - Mesa 400+, Laney Nexus Tube 400 , MJW Taranis 200 (Matamp clone with extra channel and EQ), 2 x BF TWO10, Spector TBD, Valenti #005 Super P, Yamaha BB2024x, plus a mini walk-in bass surgery if interested 6. Rosie - likely I'll bring my upright, set up for bluegrass/folk/jazz if anyone's not played upright before and fancies a go 7. Phil - BassChat cabs, maybe some sort of shootout? 8. MikeD - Laney Digbeth, Zilla 212, Dingwall Combusion, Revelation PJ, pedals, try to finish home made bass🤞🤞🤞🤞
