  1. Still for sale...
  2. What a fantastic bass. I've always fancied one of these, but unfortunately it would be completely impractical for the gigs I do. GLWTS!!
  3. I just use channel A into one cab, channel B into the other. They're a minimum of 2 ohm each. There may be a slight drop in maximum output if the load is 4 ohms on each channel, but I rarely get past 9 o'clock on the master output, even on a big stage.
  4. Unfortunately not. I've got a few basses up for sale at the moment, all lovely instruments, but they just don't get much use, so sadly they need to go.
  5. I've also had to face the 2 ohm conundrum, as I have two EBS 210 4 ohm cabs that I love, but I wanted something small and light on top. I ended up with an EICH T-1000 ( https://www.eich-amps.com/t-1000 ) which is clean, uncoloured, flexible and hugely powerful if you need it, but small and very light. Rackmountable too. Not the cheapest, but I've been very impressed with it. Bass Direct have them. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Eich_t_1000_amplifier.html Definitely worth a look.
  6. Back up for sale after a re-vamp...
  7. Wonderful basses, and so well made. They put Fenders of that era to shame. GLWTS.
  8. Your mate has asked you because he knows you're a good player. Unless he specifically said he wants you to mimic their regular bass player's style in some way, he won't expect you to - he wants you to be you. It's quite a compliment to be asked to stand in, especially doing originals.
  9. The problem may be that an MM neck, a (possibly) 60's Fender body that's been extensively screwed around with and a set of interesting pickups do not necessarily a good bass make. But they might! Not sure I'm willing to surrender a few hundred notes to find out, though. I suspect it might be tricky to sell on...
  10. Umm... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Music-Man-Stingray-Customised-4-String-Bass/282950460117
  11. You're very welcome to drop by and try it out of course Gareth - you're only down the road, after all. No obligation to buy!! :-)
  12. For sale is my Status T-Bass 5-string in gloss black metallic finish. Woven graphite moulded neck, J-J pickup config with 2-band EQ, 18-volt circuit, 34" scale, 18mm string spacing at the bridge, weighing 4.5kg on my digital bathroom scales. The P-J 4-string version of this bass is now being used by Mark King of Level 42. I bought this new from Status earlier this year, but it's just not for me. It's still on their website (http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html) under Online Shop/Stock Basses. The bass comes complete with a Status branded Hiscox Liteflite case, paperwork, allen keys, and the Hotwire strings it came fitted with. Currently strung with D'Addario EXL170's. Completely as new, never gigged. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. NOW SOLD.
  13. Been using mine for years and never knew this! But then I don't read, I fiddle...
  14. Guitarists who are mind-bogglingly loud onstage and still expect to be DI'd in the PA. In a pub.
  15. Drummers who set up and leave cases all over the stage.
  16. I have it on good authority that Mark bought a 60's jazz a couple of years ago and fell in love with it, hence his shift to a more j-bass style instrument. There are probably contractual reasons why it has to be a Status, of course...
  17. Now's your chance!
  18. That may explain it then - I'm pretty sure it was Hi Beams I tried.
  19. Isn't that odd - I tried some DRs years go and didn't care for them because I found them too 'taut' compared to D'Addarios! It may be something to do with the specific string type - I use the EXL170s and find them a good balance between tight and flexible, for my taste at least. I took delivery of a new bass yesterday and the stock steels that were on it were very bendy and a bit floppy by comparison, even though the E and A were slightly heavier than the D'Addario nickels I normally use. I put on some EXLs and it improved things no end. Horses for courses, I suppose.
  20. I bet they'd sell more sets if they changed the string model number to SH666....
  21. Sorry I missed that! He did get the name right when he relisted it though: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/electric-guitar-Ernie-ball-/202272055658 Now no longer available. Perhaps he used it for firewood during the recent cold spell...
  22. I was able to manhandle my 8x8 up the stairs to my 1st floor flat without too much difficulty, but I was younger and fitter then. 100lb may sound like a lot, but it's almost exactly the same weight as my two EBS Proline 210s together. The difference is that I can deal with them separately! I'd have a couple of the 8x8s in a flash if I had crew to lug them about... and they're still far more portable than an 8x10...
  23. Still at the starting price of £130 with only a few hours to go!!
