1.
And its only 0% if the outlet won't do a better deal for full payment or cash up front
Not entirely true. I was in Lancaster the other day for a meeting and popped into Promenade Music, where I tried a lovely Marleaux bass, which I was sorely tempted by. I took a massive amount of will power to pull myself away, especially as I was offered £300 off the ticket price even on the 'Take it Away' 0% interest scheme! Still prevaricating about it now...
2. Damn me, I suspect this is for the panto that is but a hop and skip away from the University I work in. If only that pesky day job didn't get in the way!
3.
Absolutely excellent feedback for Bass Culture (aka Mark). Top bloke - couldn't have been more accommodating. Buy with confidence!
Cheers, Jon - right back atcha!
4.
I may be interested I've sent a PM asking for a few more details, thanks.
PM replied to - thanks.
5. BUMP for price drop. Not desperate to get shot of so if there's no takers at the new, improved, 'what do you want me to do - starve?' price, I'll hold on to the little fella...
6.
I don't have a specific link right now but I'm pretty sure I've seen those bridges recently. Actually it is almost identical to an old Hondo thing I have. I'm on my phone just now but when I get near a pc later I'll have a look online for you and see what turns up.
Much appreciated - thanks. Mark
7.
I don't think you are going to have a problem finding a replacement for that bridge.
Is there a specific one you've got in mind? I can't find one that would do anything other than cover the string through holes, as they're off set. I've seen a a few string through option bridges but the holes always seem to be drilled in a straight line across the bridge.
8.
Presumably the current bridge is earthed. It would take nothing more than a wire or copper band being passed beneath them all or if that seemed too intrusive you could fit a brass/chrome nut. I've done it myself. Can you post a pic of the bridge?
Here's a links to Lfalex's for sale thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=104492&hl=zoot I've not come across a bridge that looks anything like it from another supplier so changing it for the same model in black doesn't seem to be an option. That said, as it's proprietary someone, somewhere made it! There's a luthier I know in Liverpool who could do the work if I decided to go down the single bridge pieces route, and I know Hipshot, for one, do single bridges that accommodate through body stringing too. I guess the hardware refinishing query was motivated more with cost in mind. If I decided to change the bridge for single saddles I'd need to change the ccntrol knobs, tuners and strap buttons too, of course.
9.
You could get single string bridges and position them so they line up with the existing through body holes.
Yeah, that had occured to me but all of the saddles would need to be earthed, which would involve some routing of the body, and there's the possibility that the finish under the existing bridge could be discoloured compared to the rest of the body. It's all do-able, of course, but I thought it might be worth exploring other options first.
10. I've recently picked up Lfalex v1.1's Zoot Chaser and, although I've yet to pick it up, am thinking about changing the hardware from chrome to black (never been a fan of chrome hardware and I think black will look a bit classier with the flamed maple top). However, the Zoot has a proprietary bridge which allows only through body stringing and looks like it would be very difficult to find something with the same footprint to change it for, whilst retaining the through body option. Single string bridges are an option but this would involve some work on the body to retain the earthing. So, thinking laterally, I'm wondering if it's possible to simply take all the existing hardware off and get it stripped and refinished. Might even be cheaper than replacing everything. Anyone ever tried this or have any links to companies who might be able to undertke it for me or who I can at least discuss the possibilities with? Thanks, Mark
11. Price amend to reflect what these seem to have gone for recently... Happy Christmas!
12. NOW SOLD A classic amongst practice amps, I've got a Trace Elliot Boxer 15 to go. Owned by me from new, and maybe 10 years back (although I genuinely can't remember; if I can't dig the receipt out I guess it can be dated from the serial number easily enough), it's in excellent condition and the carpet covering is in very good shape as the cat's mercifully stayed off it - possibly thrown off the scent by all that lovely greeness: Produces a kind of mini version of the full scale classic Trace sound - tight, punchy, with a slightly compressed feel to it. No real wear to speak of, though the screws have a bit of dust and suchlike coaglating in their heads. It features a basic control set - Input Gain, Bass, Mid and Treble tone controls and output Volume. Also has the extra special and - dare I say - world famous, Trace mid shift button. This button shifts mids like no other mid shift buttons out there can; it shifts mids in such a way as to make other mid shift buttons look like the pale imitations and mere pretenders we all know them to be. In short, it kicks sand in their faces and spits in their eyes...although I couldn't in all sincerity say that I actually ever really used it myself. Anyway, back on message - I am looking for £35 pretty please. For which I will dispatch to any corner of this sceptred isle you care to mention - except, of course, the ones that cost more to get to than, you know, London, Birmingham, those sort of places. Come on, people, what's not to want?
13. And SOLD - thanks, Joe.
14. Bought one of these to try and got on with it so well that I 'upgraded' to an SFX-modded Bad Monkey instead (which I might also sell on), so this is surplus to current requirements. This is some blurb for you that I've lifted off the seller's website: General Babble What a beast! This pedal is new to the UK market, and is part of a whole range from GLX, which is constantly expanding - keep your eyes peeled! It just stinks of a Boss pedal - is it possible they come from the same factory? These pedals are hideously well made. All metal casing with rubber footpedal cover, hard wearing pots which feel like they'll last forever - it just screams quality at you! Power is available either a 9v Power supply (not supplied, but available in our online shop) or a 9v PP3 battery (supplied). Battery changes are simple - undo the thumbscrew and the lid springs open, change the battery and tighten the thumbscrew and away we go again! All this, and for way less than a Boss pedal. We must be stupid. Oh yes.....we are. Vital Statistics •Overdrive designed specifically for Bass •Create high gain fuzz to rich overdrives, using the dual gain circuitry •72mm wide •60mm tall •128mm long •Connections: 1 x Input, 1 x Output, 1 x Power supply inlet •Level control - used to cut or boost the level of the sound •Low/High control - to cut & boost the relevant frequencies in the effect •Tone control - effectively a 'Mix' control - clockwise adds the effect to the sound, anti-clockwise removes it •Gain control - to adjust the amount of overdrive in the effect And now some photos of yer actual unit: As you will see, it's pristine, Christine, and priced to go at a mere £23 posted. There are some who have observed the resemblance of these pedals to another well known manufacturer's whose name has four letters, begins with a 'B', ends in an 'S' and has a vowel and one of those consonants tucked between. But far be it for me to comment! Go on - you know you've always wanted to get down and dirty, and for not much more than your average weekly pocket money now you can! Bank transfer preferred pretty please. Thanks, Mark
15. Just sold my Trace Elliot AH300SMX head to Jono. Embarrassingly quick payment and a pleasure to deal with - top bloke. Cheers, Mark
16. SOLD now, pending payment. Thanks, Mark
17.
How much do you want to post it? I'd take responsibility for it in transit, if you can pack it well for me. Thanks TnB
Where to, T'n'B? If it's U.K. it's unlikely to be more than £15 - I'm lucky enough to get a deal through work with Parcelforce. Cheers, Mark
18.
Great amp and well below usual trace's asking price of £1/Watt. I love my 350SMX, and every time I mention selling it (because it weights a ton), my drummer keep saying "don't be f... idiot" I'm sorry I can't afford having another GP12
Ah, go on, go on - you're only a hop and a jump away from me too!
19. Dear All, I have for sale my Trace Elliot AH300SMX bass head, only recently bought off fellow BC-er, Lozbass, in excellent condition, for a mere £220 of the folding stuff (which is what I paid Lawrence for it). It's actually rated at 280w on the back info, which explains the discrepancy between me referring to it as an AH300 and Lawrence an AH250. Either way, it's one loud cookie! I bought this off Lawrence with a view to keeping it should I ever need a back up for my TC RH450, but a recent bass purchase necessitates a modicum of asset liquidation. Lawrence has kindly let me link to his previous 'For Sale' thread to use his photos (thanks, Lawrence!): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...+Elliot+smx+250 Everyone knows the Trace sound - tight, punchy, loud! - and this is an excellent example of perhaps their most well regarded preamp. It's all there: Mixable Valve/Solid State input, 12 band graphic, Two band Compression, Pre-shape, Graphic level, EQ Balance, Effects level, Tuner out, Effects Loop, Goblin Teasmaid....well, maybe not the last feature. At the price I'm asking (no offers, I'm afraid) I think this is a bit (as in, a lot!) of a bargain, but it's what I bought it off Lawrence for so I'm happy to pass it on to a fellow BC-er at the same price. Yes, you read right - just £220 buys you a fantastic example of what many think was Trace's finest amp! I'd prefer pick up (have a day out - Chester's lovely at this time of year!) but I'll ship if I can find a suitable box for it at cost. Without wishing to go 'all ebay' on yo asses, please check my Feedback thread. I can upload more recent pictures when I get time if anyone wants them, but it really is in exactly the same condition as in Lawrence's for sale thread. Thanks all, Mark
20.
Now on hold pending the usual
I presume you didn't get my PM yesterday morning then? Oh poo...
21. Apologies if this is a slight hijack but does anyone have any experience of the M-Audio Microtrack II? There's one available for a very good price through a friend (i.e. less than the new Zoom H1 that was linked to) and I was just wondering how it compares. Cheers, Mark
22. I also got something similar from B&Q a while back, and they were chips as chips too.
23.
... any connection to this....:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT ?? ... seems unusual to see (almost) the same collection of basses. Where are you based?
Hmm, interesting....
24. Hey, Spoombung, nothing to do with your for sale thread, I'm afraid, but I've just realised you're one of my favourite bass players! Ever since I heard 'Hoist the Levant' on some NME or Melody Maker freebie some years ago. I've coincidentally nominated you as an 'unsung bass hero' on a thread on a hi fi forum I subscribe to - so there! So glad you're still kicking around and active, as 'twere.
