1. Now, come on you chorus lovers out there, you know you want to-type BUMP....
 2. Hi All, I've got an EBS Black Label Unichorus for sale. Purchased just last year from BC but pretty much unused since then - hence the sale. It's in excellent condition. 3 modes - Chorus (obviously!), Pitch Modulation and Flanger. Has it's original box, instructions and blurb about other EBS pedals. It's the pre-true-bypass model but I gather only bats would be able to tell the difference. I'm after £75, which will include postage to mainland UK. Feedback here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=bass+culture Thanks for looking. Mark
 3.
Isn't it too soon for another four versus five thread. Tha last one has hardly had time to go cold.
Indeed, especially when our enthusiam for our own instrument sometimes turns into tacit criticism of those who choose a different format. I'm as interested in trying to convince those who play a different format bass to me to do otherwise, as I am in listening to those who do the same. Live and let live say I! That said, glad the OP is enjoying his current foray into 5 string waters...
 4.
I've asked him a couple of times about a Micro Chorus . He's developing one as we speak I think . This will probably be my third order from him when it hits the page .
Just noticed this - what do you mean by a micro chorus? Would it have a different control array from the chorus pedal I referred to? I'm really interested in one of these. Chorus is about the ony effect I use with any regulatory. Cheers, Mark
 5.
this is a fantastic bass but out of my budget at the moment awsome price there as well i am sure it will be soon gone if you relist this
Fantastic bass it is - you are wise beyond words! Actually I am a bit surprised that it's not generated a bit more substantial interest. Still, maybe not the right time of year. It is a bit soon after Christmas!
 6. Folks, I've had quite a few enquiries but no offers yet, so I'm going to withdraw this for the time being and maybe repost in a month or two. We'll see. Thanks, Mark
 7. Steve's just finished a particularly tricky pre-amp change on my Zoot for me - tricky because of the space available and a couple of additional switches I had put in which made life difficult (specifically the LED on the low battery indicator needing changing after it became detached!). No histrionics and no evasiveness, he simply phoned up and explained the situation and we postponed pick up a few days for him to sort it. I do like dealing with people who don't try and bulls**t you! The Zoot is now happily equipped with an ACG EQ02 pre-amp and, I have to say, the bass sounds simply stunning now! I think even Steve would admit it out-Stingray's his Stingray. And Steve also did a little extra screening that was needed when he had it stripped down. All in all a top guy who knows his stuuf and can be relied on 100%!
 8. Quite a few enquiries but no offers yet, so here's one last, Friday evening 'don't make me put this on ebay' bump!
 9. Bumpy bumpy poo poos...
 10. BUMP for final price drop!
 11.
Would you ship to France?
Don't think I'd have a problem shipping to France. I'd prefer to package it with the Hiscox case I've got though, just to be on the safe side. I feel a bit uncomfortable about just sending it boxed.
 12.
is it a cash deal or are you interested in any trades plus maybe cash your way, i have a jon shuker custum jazz on here at the min, see what you think, cheers paul
Sorry, not really looking at trades as I've got my Zoot for gigging duties until the ACG is built. Your Shuker looks lovely though.
 13. Mark, Ref your comment that Max doesn't make a Chorus pedal - he does, or has done. It's not a production pedal but I know he'd make one up again as I enquired myself last year. Hell, if we both get a request in, he might bring it into his product list!:
New project (it might be a product if there is enough interest): Stereo Chorus

Stereo or mono
True-bypass
Controls:

effect level: it controls the amount of chorus added to the clean signal
depth: depth of the chorus effect
rate: frequency of the chorus modulation
mode: mode 1: classical chorus effect, mode 2: more subtle effect (it sounds great with bass)
filter: it controls the frequencies processed by the unit. Full: everything is processed, hi: only the higher frequencies are processed, hi+mid:
intermediate setting.
Circuit optimized for guitar and bass
.
All the best, Mark
 14. Bump for price drop. I'm running out of 'wriggle room' here, folks, so if anyone's out there ruminating on an offer, speak now or forever hold your piece! Cheers, Mark
 15.
Well...I've never noticed the bass in that band (I still can't really hear it on the clips probably because he's mostly rooting the chord) but he'll go down well with the numerous bassists that treasure absolute anonymity - something approaching a Zen-like humility (but quite often ends up as inaudibility) as the ultimate virtue of the art. REM are a funny group. All their songs sound the same to me; the same vocal phrases, the same intervals, the same chords, the same sounds year after year after year. They've been here forever and won't go away and won't change... like someone from another generation that insists and boiled beans and cabbage on a Thursday.
With respect, Spoombung, if Stump had had a career that spanned 30-odd years and 20-odd albums a discerning listener not dissimilar to yourself might also have been able to identify a certain, er, 'consistency' across your canon! Stipe's only got one voice, after all!
 16.
No point offering you a Sadowsky RV4 fretless in Oly white/Tort then? No? Bump for a beautiful bass!
Er, generous though this kind offer is - er, no. Thanks all the same though.
 17.
whats the weight mate?
No weight - you can have it as soon as it's paid for - boom boom! (I won't give up the day job...) I'll put it on the bathroom scales when I get a chance but what I can say is that it's noticeably lighter than 'average' - a combination of the small body and swamp ash, I'd say. Very comfortable and no problem over longer gigs.
 18.
Good salesman! lol. Yeah, I live on the Wirral so I know Chester very well. I might take you up on that, I could bring my Bongo and try and convince you to take it in part ex lol
Ha ha - sadly my heart is set on an ACG. The Roscoe is so good that the ACG custom is really the only thing I'm prepared to move it on for. That said, PM, you're welcome to pop over anyway and put the Rosecoe through its paces even if it's not a precursor to a purchase - always happy to exchange pleasantries, drink tea and talk bass with a fellow obsessive!
 19.
Gorgeous bass, and just down the M53 from me!
Well you'd be very welcome to pop over and give it a blast anyway. Chester's very easy on the eye at this time of year!
 20. Cheers - sounds pretty special too!
 21. Monday morning, people looking, no one posting-type BUMP.
 22. I’ve been dragging my feet about this for a few weeks but I’ve now reconciled myself to selling my beautiful Roscoe LG3000 Signature. Completed in May 2008 I bought it new from Mark at Bass Direct in September 2009. Until Thursday night I would have described the condition as new, but I noticed a slight chip in the lacquer in the middle of the top horn at a rehearsal. No idea where it came from or how it got there! I’ve tried my best to get a decent photo of it (see third photo down at the bottom). Anyway, now I’d describe it in as new condition – except for the chip in the lacquer in the middle of the top horn: Some specs: Body: Solid swamp ash in a high gloss finish with grain highlighting Neck: 7 piece laminated - maple with purpleheart centre lamination and maple and cherry accent laminations, Bolivian Rosewood fingerboard, 40mm nut width Pickups: Bartolini soap bars Pre-amp: Bartolini NTMB with master volume, pickup blend, treble and bass cut and boost and midrange cut/boost with push/pull for frequency selection Bridge: Hipshot Type ‘A’ in black with 18mm string pitch Tuners: Hipshot in black Sound-wise it’s punchy as hell. There’s a lot of love for Roscoes on BC and as soon as I started gigging with it I understood why. Mark at Bass Direct thinks Roscoes deliver the midrange better than any other basses he’s heard. I'm not about to argue - it's tight and full and really cuts through in the mix. Playability is phenomenal. The neck has a comfortable C/D profile, action is ridiculously low and the neck is fast as hell. And the neck just doesn’t move either - I’ve swapped between different strings and gauges and I’ve not had to tweak the truss rod yet. So why am I selling? Basically I’ve been kicking e-mails back and forth for a custom build from ACG and have now settled on a spec. I’ve also picked up a Zoot recently which I’ve ‘pimped’, so sadly there’s no room at the Inn for the Roscoe anymore. If you around the Bass Direct website you'll see that, with the recent price increases, a similarly specced instrument would now cost you between £2.5k - £3k. Luckily I picked it before the recent price increases. I’m looking for £1200 - but this is my final price drop; if it doesn't sell at this price I'll keep hold of it for the time being. Comes complete with letter of authenticity, allen keys, Roscoe gig bag, black Schaller strap locks (both parts!) and it's original strap buttons too. Please drop me a PM for further details if you need any or to arrange a trial. Thanks for looking, folks. Now the rest of the photos – enjoy:
 23. I'm in too. Says 'You' when I'm signed in but I guess I'll show as Beerdoughboy63.
 24.
Rotosound are crap.
Yeah - Jaco sounded sh*t with them, didn't he?!
 25. I played Roto's for years and then had a period of about 4 years of trying others - went from steels to nickels, through D'Addario's, La Bella, Thomastick and a fair few others. I'm back to Roto Swing Bass again. I use a pretty light guage - 35-90's - and I've not really found anything else that gives me the same characteristics. Nickel strings are mostly too polite for my tastes. It's a pity because the snob in me really wants to find something that's a bit more 'gold standard', but I've not found anything to usurp my tried and trusted Roto's yet...
