Would it be possible to make a pedal that switches the signal chain
haha ty!!! EDIT Thanks for all the help. I'm going to try out the one on the beavis audio site (http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/PedalHacker/OrderSwitcher.gif) as it looks like the easiest to do (no offense at all to paint ) Thanks again for the help Pirate
no worries its the same layout except you can actually follow that one haha. -
Oh dear, I just had a horrible thought, how big is the chimaera enclosure? I love my homemade feedback loop but I built it inside a russian muff enclosure and I'm about to build a board finally, and it hit me how much space it takes up, plus I don't have a footswitch in mine and i could really use a TB loop, if you can build the chimaera in an mxr or even bantam enclosure you may have yourself a customer
its in a mxr sized enclosure! i should really get some pictures up of the pedals, the artist i've got to do the painting for me is really quite good. at monz; i can look into the footswitch for you it shouldn't be to pricey
Loving the ring modulator and the tube boost, like the sound of the diffractor too, love a sound clip of that at some point To be hionest I didn't listen to the fuzz samples, for the first time I'm happy with my fuzz/od setup and the last thing i need is temptation....
the diffractor doesn't sound wonderful in a band context on bass unfortunatly, glad you guys like the ring mod though took me ages to get it to not just feedback and go nuts all the time!

i've decided to start building pedals / amps comercially and i'd like a little input on the site / sound of the pedals, the site is www.myspace.com/mammothsoundaudio any feedback you can give would be great, also if you have any preferences to pedals you'd like to see me making in the future that would be helpful to. sorry if its a bit of a shameless plug ;<
I've played through a few VBA's and always thought the tone to be a bit woolly. I saw a guy gigging with a stack, looks of valves lit up in the head (can't remember which model), only 300w and sounded awesome.
only 300 watts of valvey goodness ;o i'm going to have to make a 1000watt valve head and show you guys how ridiciously loud that would be ;< also marshall made alot of bad bass heads but alot of good ones aswell i don't think their speciality lies with SS equipment

top guy and a great packing technique that i intend to copy and master!
3600 watts is the 'peak' power. anyone's guess what the RMS power is, depending on how they measure 'peak' it could be an RMS anywhere between about 100 watts and up. companies which measure peak power usually have something to hide. also, as far as i can tell, the 550-watt 'tube' amp has a tube pre-amp, and a SS power amp. having said that, considering no one here has actually TRIED these amps, i think we should at least give them a chance -- lest we fall into the same category of speculation we so tend to despise others for! I do like the look of some of their guitar heads, for the price, so who knows?
nah aparently it has 4 el34s/6l6s/6550s in the power amp check the bias sheet
What about this? http://www.bugera-amps.com/EN/products/BVP5500.aspx can 4 valves really put out 550 clean watts?
yeah a pair of 807s can put out 1000clean watts, but theres no way at all a quad of el34s/6550s/6l6gcs will do 550clean watts and last more than ten minutes

dunno check out what stuff saxon used they wrote and recorded most of the songs i think!
+1,000,000 Plenty of manufacturers are guilty of selling basses with atrocious pickups and a fancy active circuit to compensate. I remember a Bass Player article with Rick Turner where he pretty much stated that if you're spending less than USD1500 on a bass, stick to passive because the electronics will suck.
it doesn't cost a grand to design and make a good simple buffer ;<
I'm a kind a low, rumbling kind of bass guy - although I have no idea if I need good mid/high response to get the full growl out or whether that will all come from lows as well. And no idea what kind of speakers etc. would be needed to cut through a wall of guitar noise if I ended up playing alongside two of the ego maniacs. Do you think 300-500W would be a good power range to look for?
if your going for big low end i'd either go 4Xkt88 power amp or 750watt ss+ power amp just for lots of clean head room

Anyone come across one of these in the UK
Oh, thought of a feature that came with my old valve amp, that seems to have gone out of fashion, the ability to deliver 500v to people touching it.
yeah its quite a nice feature, some soundcitys seem to have had it build in!

i liked the sound of the pedal but the tracking is a REALLY bad kind of like the coloursound octaver
Agreed, I crank out the 40W iron for pot casings. I really ought to get an adjustable temperature one to save me swapping between the 25 and the 40 during a wiring job.
file the back of the pot where your going to solder it gets rid of the layer of oxide and makes the solder take really easily, and reduces the time and thus risk of ruining the pot

better signal strength, high impedence, less likely to pick up noise, more flexible etc etc.
So... some time ago, while looking for another (specific) chorus, I rushed and bought an EHX Nano Clone. Soon after, I primed the Bid button for that other chorus, and this one stayed in the box. Nothing wrong with it, works well, but its bugging me that its just sitting there, so I've had it up for sale, but noone seems to want it. So, Im considering other options. the box is perfect for the space I have left in my pedalboard, and I need a nice Phaser, so... Anyone know of a Phaser circuit that isnt too hard to put together (i'm only just good enough to solder and not burn my fingers or the components) and that will fit in the Nano Shell? Thx
phasers aren't that simple unfortunatly

haha looks like a more colourful version of a prop from star trek - very cool
Hi, I really need some help with my new aquisition. It is a 1972/3 markIV sound city b120. The problem is when that all the sound that comes out of it has horrendous fuzz distortion on it that all that it turns what you are trying to play into a wall of noise, and for a short period the treble pot when turned up gave an awful high pitched screech. In addition when i flicked the standby switch on once i got an electric showck that numbed my arm. Any ideas how i can go about fixing thisl, or if anyone knows where a valve amp tech is in the southwest (Bath/Bristol/Swindon area) I would be very grateful. Cheers
take it to a tech, sounds like some of the caps have gone and dc is leaking onto the front panel, i'd recomend not using it till you've had someone look at it aswell as you might end up damaging the valves / transformers running it in that state
I suppose I shouldn't mention my old vocalist's Dad (himself a pro drummer who has one of Mitch Mitchell's kits from the JHE) picking up an Orange head at a car boot sale for £40 about ten years back... Alex
was it a proper orange though or one of these new fangled ones
