  1. Ebs all the way for me, no contest, for my style the just sit in the mix better live. It depends on the style of music you play really.
  2. i use a zoom 9.1ut and i really cant fault it, i only actually use 2 settings on it but its so handy and does exactly what i need with no noise issues, the pedal synth feature is cool too.
  3. i love 6x10s i havent tried the ashdowns though and generally im not keen on their cabs, but there are exceptions. i would expect the abm to be a good cab though. the SWR is a great cab but replacements parts are a pain to get hold of. if i didnt have my barefaced i would definately have a 6x10 of some kind as i love the portability/size/sound ratio the only one i found lacking that i tried was the warwick one, it just sounded wrong to me. i agree with JTUK if aguilar made one i would be all over it.
  4. the xylem website has been updated with loads of pics and sound samples here http://www.xylembassguitar.com/custom-bass-yggdrasil-specs.html im gonna have a few days to get to grips with it properly and ill be doing a full review.
  5. It arrived today, extremely well packaged. holy diver! this bass is f**ckin unreal!!! i need to rehearse asap!!! i made some potentially risky choices but they have seriously paid off, the neck is amazing! I think that's pretty much me sorted forever, my current palm bay pales in comparison, i'll get a proper play with it tomorrow
  6. ezdrummer 2 (or superior drummer 2) really is the way forward
  7. i think the heads sound good, i really didnt rate the cabs though (in fact i cringe when we turn up to a gear share gig ant there is one there) also i far preferred the bass v-amp pro over the pod pro of the the same era
  8. roaring things are exactly my kinda thing, especially when they roar
  9. ufo - rock bottom its an easy part but theres loads of room to add flair and flourishes, you really can go a bit mad in the solo section and it still fits. i loved playing that song, lots of fun and always went down very well too.
  10. just got a rather nice pic so i thought i would share [attachment=167308:10565196_696068517108324_1629211996371595771_n.jpg]
  11. all three for me, it may be against the rules but its the only way, i use all 3 styles in equal measures.
  12. a no from me, but if you like it, go for it, do your own thing man :^)
  13. about 10 years ago i used to have a rack and in the final space i had a piece of brass custom cut out with my band name and backlit it with mini cold cathode tubes, it looked amazing and added ventilation too. i still have the brass panel somewhere :^)
  14. thanks again for everyone's input folks :^)
  15. morrissey - Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha each to their own and all that but for me- ha ha aha aha aha aha ahahaha aahahahahhaahahdhd;rkjvsd;ighdoi;sjghgoir!!!!!!!
  16. awesome cheers a few options there, i really like the look of the ethos custom brands straps too, very nice.
  17. as the title says im after one with a pocket for suitable for a line 6 g30 transmitter built in if possible something comfortable. cheers :^)
  18. 3/10 for me, ha ha :^)
  19. Top 3 are bang on for me. I love dream theater but they are a bit wet and in my opinion have a body of work that is overall a little disapointing when you consider the talent there. When they are good they are awesome but it just isnt frequent enough and the rest of it seems a bit like painting by numbers.
  20. i know they are pretty much seen as a standard headstock but i really think they are ugly as sin (all fender headstocks) at least a lot of the others on this thread are thinking outside the box.
  21. yeah, im really glad i went with xylem now, despite the wait :^) im slightly dreading the inevitable customs charges of doom though
  22. i got the first batch of pics of it finished yesterday, it would be interesting to hear other folks thoughts but i love it, very distinctive :^) [attachment=166467:hewitt-bass-final.jpg] [attachment=166468:hewitt-bass-final-2.jpg] [attachment=166469:hewitt-bass-final-3.jpg] [attachment=166470:hewitt-bass-final-4.jpg] [attachment=166471:hewitt-bass-final-5.jpg]
  23. i have tried many of the budget models and by far and away the best sound quality (for the money) was the Roland Quad capture (£185), i know several people who upgraded from the focusrite scarlett range as soon as they heard the difference on my system, i honestly think for the money the is nothing better out there, the duo capture EX uses the same preamps and is a little cheaper if you dont need the digi i/o and extra processing. they are great units and i cant recommend them highly enough. i have not tried the Forte but i have heard good things.
  24. We are looking for a guitarist with good lead skills as the current guy is leaving. based around the bolton area, we play nwobhm style with a dash of prog/thrash we are a 5 piece and have a debut album at the mix stage for a summer release there are some samples of our music here https://soundcloud.com/winterfire if anyone is interested or knows someone who might be just get in touch Cheers Folks
  25. i used to love the randy jackson dean markleys, i was gutted when they stopped em, after many changes ive finally settled on sadowsky blue label steels, very nice but hard to get at a decent price in the uk.
