1.
wow. a bit OT and don't know how I'm supposed to respond to that one, theres a story there, but prob best not told.....
Thank you for your opinion. You're not supposed to respond at all...you are free at all times to step away from the computer and find something else to do.
2.
I like the idea of a pro-UK builder but the current stock doesn't reflect this yet. More Shukers,Overwaters, Enfields, Wals, Statii and GBs!
Y'know...Not naming names at all, but one of those companies owes one of the others some money for the supply of facing wood. They know who they are and I hope they see this message, feel a little guilty and do the right thing.
3. The screw attaching the tuner knob to the string anchor has come out. Just screw it back in again and make sure it goes into the string anchor.
4. Plenty of support on here for Hartke.
5. I can't remember - it might have been an EBS Microbass pre. But most active PA cabs are designed to take line level inputs so have their own preamp stages.
6.
4 strings, don't care what colour. There's one for sale on here if it's not gone [2 I'm looking at, one a stingray, one a sterling] 2EQ from BassVentura-FretDetective and I gotta say it's tempting me a little more than the Sterling if it's not gone yet.
A lady bass player I know prefers a Sterling. Same sound as a Stingray but with jazz like neck width.
7. I played through a Wharfdale active PA cab for a while. It sounded fantastic. The only thing we had to be careful of was overheating. The amps work harder to push low frequencies out and if the cooling system isn't up to the job then things can get toasty.
8. I use 105-35 on my Spectors. Really don't care what kind of strings they are apart from stainless vs nickel. Stainless have a bit more sizzle but I'm not lacking that on the Spectors anyway. The hot output won't damage an amp, but it might distort amps which are designed for lower inputs. If your amp doesn't have a variable gain control then put a preamp with a variable gain control between your bass and the amp and adjust to take the heat out of your signal. Alternatively you could use a compressor.
9. Jon Shuker uses strip sanding for tricky parts too. The tip about turning the razor blade into a scraper is pretty neat though. I've used nail polishing pads in the past instead of specialist wet n dry. They seem to work really well.
10. The vid has been deleted. :/
11. For anyone who doesn't need a jazz bass tone THAT often, this would be ideal...
12. Amen.
13. Lovely bass. Great ergonomics. This is a better bass than a Smith. I have owned three Smith BSRGNs. Keep it and get some custom pickups from Aaron Armstrong for that Smith sound.
14.
Fixed.
Youll b first against the wall when the revolution come's.
15. Grammar Nazis, we can set you up with your own forum if there is more than 150 of you. Feel free to PM me.
16. Its a pretty bass and we don't see many from that time in custom colours.

Multi effects.
Thanks for the reply the G2 in a smaller package would be my dream effects Does it get anywhere neat ?
More a case of horses for courses. The MPXG2 is a swiss army knife in terms of effects and signal chain management. It's only bettered by software based solutions and only limited by 'processing power'. The B3 by comparison is three effects only. But in most gigging situations I've never needed more than three anyway and the B3 has the bonus of a software based editor. I also have Native Instruments Guitar Kontrol which is superb - unlimited processing power and great user interface. But with all software based solutions, expect to be coughing up for upgrades due to built in redundancy.

Multi effects.

I just bought a Zoom B3...to take over from a nice Lexicon MPXG2. The Lexicon is a great unit but doesn't fit in my gig bag like the Zoom does.
19.
ALL YOUR PEAVEYS ARE BELONG TO US!
If its all the same, we'd prefer you talk about them on here though.
20. Quite frankly I'm amazed that Parcelforce are still a viable business. I've had two packages recently that were cocked up by them. One I challenged the handling fees on to no avail...it was 20 days late. I could have handled payment of the customs charges myself but was not given that option. The other package wasn't delivered in time and there was no note left behind to say someone had visited. So I requested a FULL refund (including express shipping fee) from Amazon and wrote a strongly worded letter of complaint. The refund was approved inside two hours and...quelle surprise...the next day a delivery notice appeared through my letter slot. Too little too late though. I had already re-ordered. I abandoned the first package at the post office (where, incidentally, they also wanted a fee to collect.) DPD have proved to be outstanding. They text you an hour in advance to let you know when they'll be arriving regardless of collecting or delivering. They're my courier of choice.
21. [Sucks in breath]...ooh go on then.
22. Would you sell the B3 on its own...?
All the instruments on his stand were Berlins IIRC - all very high spec custom jobs and all massively expensive (as in £3k+). No Lefties sadly so I couldn't give any of them a spin but they definitely looked the part.
I saw their stand at the Electric Live part of the London Acoustic Guitar Show 10 days ago and the instruments looked nothing short of stunning. It was the only stand where I did a double take...

25.
How am I only just discovering this thread? Looking awesome Steve, great design and that blue is just stunning. Looking forward to the updates and the finished article.
Thanks EZ. It started off being Jaydee meets Fodera and Steinberger but with the way its turning out I suspect it'll be more Steinberger, Jaydee and PRS. The maple top is breath taking.
