1.
The gigs were great, but the meeting and socialising was an absolute nightmare for me. but in the intervals and before gigs I just like to go and sit with a coffee and read a book or something. I have to be absolutely organised. I need set lists in advance. I put everything out the night before, and leave to the gig with plenty of time to spare.
Sorry to paraphrase you Ambient, but these parts describe me too, I thought it was just me, maybe its a bassist thing, we like to be organised, but don't 'get' the socialising thing. If I didn't play in bands, I'd never go in a pub at all, and I hate being nagged to 'go out and get gigs' cos I really struggle being in pubs in that situation. To the OP, as others have said, get more in the loop with the mum so you know what to expect, the actual band ethos sounds like fun, and challenging, which can be a good thing. Good luck with whatever you choose fella.
 2. I tend to adjust my tone 'on the fly' dependant on song requirements using the bass tone knob. Adjustments at the amp are done at setup for a gig to get the sound for the room. Whatever the caps are that KiOgon uses on his looms, they are fine by me, installed one of his looms in my P at the weekend and it sings to me now!!
 3.
OK...after a lot of trial and error, I've identified the source of my noise problem.... I use my Smooth Hound on a board with just my Zoom B3 - both with their own PSU's. If I use a patch lead to connect them (or a hard connector) I get massive noise, unless I use the active setting and whack on the noise reduction. If I use a long (20ft) lead to join the Smooth Hound to the Zoom, the signal is clear with no noise on any setting! I've tried it with the shortest lead I have - about 6ft - and I get a little noise. It seems the shorter the lead, the louder the noise. All my connectors are decent quality, so it's not them that are responsible for the noise. Am I doing something daft or do I have to use a 20ft cable as a patch lead to get a clean signal?
Probably explains why I had no issue then, using a normal 3m guitar lead between my B3 and the amp mounted Smoothhound.
 4.
Or 'hamstermangler'?
Molestrangler? a dame as I recall!!

 9.
Makes perfect sense.... since I mispelt the word (it should have two "L"'s"). It is actually the Irish word for "forrest" or "wood", and is also a state sponsered company here in Ireland. I have always said that Bass Chat is a very informative web site. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coillte
thanks for that, great stuff, I just got all excited as both my in laws come from within a few miles of Quilty.
 10. You're more than very welcome!

 14. Aaaand back ON topic... not daily but probably 3-4 times a week, usually for at least half an hour, and mainly to keep fingers flexible and calluses topped up, plus learning of new songs as and when.
 15.
I think there is a big difference between "playing" every day, and practicing every day. How the time is used is very important. Some people spend maybe hours noodling around or practicing stuff they already know. IMO a half an hour to an hour spent on intense and focused practice, say twice a week ( though regularity is best...i.e. everyday) is more beneficial than an hour every day simply messing around on the bass. It's the quality...not the quantity. As for my self, I practice every day generally. I concentrate on practicing what I consider to be my weak points, as well as learning new songs for my covers band.
Totally off topic, but I love your avatar name...a County Clare man perchance?
 16. LMAO! I think the sounds guys were 'experimenting' as other songs sound totally different, I had to choose that clip obviously!
 17. Did a little open air festival at local football club, filling in for a last minute cancellation, heavens opened halfway through the set, but everyone huddled in the tents and gazebos and we carried on regardless, you can see the trees blowing mightily in the background here. Apologies for pic/sound quality it was just a camera on vid setting on top of the sound desk! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Aev0J6Kmk
