1. I went to collect my bass from having new tuners fitted today, and left the shop with one of these as well! It's a lovely guitar, very pleased to know there's humbucker routing under the guard as well!
2. I've found a cab I'd like but it's down in London, and I'm up in Glasgow, so picking up is not an option, but the seller has said if I arrange the courier they'll pack it up for me. Now, I've not couriered a cab in ages, so I can't remember who I've used in the past. Can anyone give me any recommendations? I'd be looking for a 24 hour courier so it can be picked up on Monday and delivered on Tuesday when I'm off, and they must be willing to take a parcel that weighs in at approx 35kg. I don't want to spend loads on the courier but I understand that due to the size and weight my hands may well be tied on that one. Most importantly, I don't want someone who's going to deliver it in more pieces that it was sent in. All suggestions appreciated!
3. My P Bass has undergone some changes as of late, thanks to the lovely members of Basschat. It now comprises of: Fender MIM P Bass body Warmoth 21 fret Tele Bass neck Geddy Lee Jazz Bass tuners Wizard Thumper Tort scratchplate I wasn't 100% about the Warmoth neck to begin with as I prefer a P-width nut, but the Tele Bass neck is very slim in terms of width, but full and chunky front to back, it's great to play. I may need to do a fill and re-drill on the headstock as the existing tuner screw holes don't quite match up with the Geddy tuners, but it's not an issue just now. My main issue is the scratchplate, the pickup rout and the jack socket don't match with where they should be, and it's causing the plate to warp, hence the tug bar, it's helping to hold it in place. It does mean I can wedge a pick in between the scratchplate and the fretboard overhang, which is handy. In hindsight I should've taken the picture of the bass with the bridge cover on to hide the chips in the finish (the previous custodian of the body obviously wasn't too handy with a drill).
4. Available again after the buyer stood me up
5. I'm struggling to find any info on them. I couldn't tweet the man himself to find out, so hopefully Rotosound will tweet me back with an answer that's not a load of old cobblers.
6. Does anyone know what the different is between the Roto Jazz Bass 77 LEs and the Steve Harris Signature Strings? Apart from a fiver? I've been looking at the specs and they're both the same gauge: 50/75/95/110, but I can't find anything to say why the Harris flats are more expensive. Is it just the name and the West 'Am silks?
7. Ant sold me his Geddy Lee tuners, he posted them the same day I paid, and they arrived very well packed and are absolutely perfect, great seller & top feller!
8.
Of your options, Tort. If it were me, white pearl!
I also tried white pearl, it didn't float my boat and the white went back on.
9. I've thought about tort for my Sage Green Metallic Jazz, but I always end up staying with white, although my scratchplate has gone somewhat creamy. I personally hate the colour, I wish I'd never got it, but it was the only one in the shop and I was mightily hungover when I bought it and didn't want to leave empty handed.
10.
Hmmm - build your own. How about I start with this loaded body: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c8169afff and then add a P neck to it? Surely somebody here on B/C would have a decent P neck to fit it?
I have a P Bass neck if you want it? Made in Mexico, a bit "road worn" but plays very nicely indeed.
11. The Fender Mark Hoppus Bass is a Jazz Body with a P Bass neck. P Bass pickup though, and a one-piece scratchplate with a volume pot but no tone. Shouldn't really be that difficult to mod though.
12. I've got a set of 4 machine heads/tuners from a 2000 MIM P Bass, in chrome. Good condition, I took them apart and cleaned and tweaked them about a year ago and they're rock solid, I haven't had any slip in the tuning at all. 2 or 3 of the screws are missing but they still work fine, if I can find any others in my bits box I'll chuck them in but they may not match. I think I've maxed my upload limit so PM me if you'd like pictures. Looking for £15 plus post or pick up from Glasgow. Ta!
13. Just bought Kenny's Warmoth Tele Bass neck off him for my P Bass, allowed me to bring my P Bass body iwth me to make sure it all fit OK as he works just round the corner from me, very friendly, a pleasure to deal with!
14. See when this is fitted to a body, does the 21st fret overhang sit flush against the scratchplate or is there a slight gap?
15. Is it a hiss, or a hum/buzz? I've got an Evo II head that has a pretty loud hum when the output volume is above 9 o clock. Disengaging the valve drive and EQ gets rid of it, engaging one or the other on it's own brings it in a bit and both switched in its very loud. Is it something that a service would fix?
16. I've had a look at it on eBay and I can tell that the tuners are definitely MIM, looks like the guy's just stuck a USA decal on there. Edit: The specs in the description don't match up with the pictures either, it doesn't have a high mass bridge and the fingerboard isn't maple. The specs are for this:
17.
Probably for the best.
I like it
18. FWIW, my MIM PBass is a great instrument. It's light, resonant (even with that thick finish), the neck is great, tuners are rock solid, the only thing I dislike about it is the ugly black plastic sleeve around the truss rod access hole at the headstock end, it looks cheap IMO. I'd prefer heel-end adjustment. I've stuck a threaded saddle bridge on it (personal preference), installed a new wiring harness, tort scratchplate and a pretty knackered Wizard Thumper that sounds amazing, so these mods all help to make it as good as it is, but that said, the two main components (body & neck) are original and very, very good.
19. Utter, utter filth. Love it!
20.
just picked up this today, Its in a sage green metallic , I havnt seen many in this colour so i thought i would share it.
I've got a Jazz in the same colour, don't think they did it for long.
