1. I think you might struggle a bit! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...8&hl=callan Nice looking bass though. Pluck
2.
You'll be hard pushed to find that matches the Blazer that you've got........
I know, and it's not going anywhere! The Roadsters have a fatter neck though, and I like a fat neck - so there's room for one in the collection I actually think that - nostalia/collectability/mojo/voodoo etc aside - Ibanez in that era put their name to some genuinely great basses. Pluck
3. I've seen good examples of Roadster's with the 'Blazer' shaped headstock fetch well north of £300 on eBay - certainly the TOTR models. The Bass Cellar on Denmark Street has/had one in - admittedly in really nice shape but ( typically for them ) were after £400 for it, which is too much IMO - for now at least. I'm actually in the market for one myself, although I'm looking the natural version and in great condition - and will pay fairly decent money for it when I find it. Take Jon's advice: I'd offer him £100 - £150 quid for it, spend some time on it and fix it up ( needn't cost much ) and then be happy with what will be/is a really nice bass Pluck
4. ... tad on the pricey side?! Pluck

6. FWIW - a little part of the basschatter in me dies whenever BBC gets banned for speaking his mind ( albeit it with 'gusto'! ). We're all grown-ups here, BBC's posts are raucous and lairy ( and often hilarious ) but there is usually an element of sense and/or truth in most of the stuff he posts - and anyway we're all grown-ups and we can handle the banter right? Personally I'm not bothered about the nature of the sale in this thread - auction/feeler/straight sale - who cares? But the whole thing does read badly when the man gets the chop for speaking out against what he (and others by the look of it) see as less that consistent behaviour by mods. I don't have anything against you mods btw - I think this site is well run on the whole - but the censorship issue will always raise hackles. Restore karma - unban BBC, sell the bass, move on, etc.... Pluck
7. Thats lovely. Unfortunately having just bought a '60's Carlsbro valve amp - I simply cannot think of one slither of an excuse as to why I might need to own this, so I'll give you a free bump instead! Pluck
8.
he's still using it i asked roadie once he just said Paul made it as i have said before,., what a player anthomp
Sweet, certainly sounds nutsy. Who's Paul?! Pluck
9. Not my favourite track - but what is that bass? Is it a Ibby Musician? Pickups looks wrong.... Linkie to youtube and again here, sounding lovely... nuther linkie Pluck

Such a shame they ain't 34" scale... Pluck
11. I think I've got 'It must be love', I'll check.... Pluck
12. That's a push/pull pot no? Doesn't look original to me - looks like a CTS? Pluck
13.
I had the same conundrum so had Mr.Shuker build me one! Here she is: Lovely example if I do say so myself
Thats lovely by the way - first Shuker I've seen that I've liked. Pluck
14.
The fact that John Entwistle owned it will make absolutely no difference to your playing whatsoever. I guarantee it. It won't Never. Not now, not never. The fact he owned it doesn't make it a great playing guitar, he's probably owned loads of crap playing guitars and now they're being sold off. See past the bullshit. For that sort of money, you could buy a top of the range Alembic (if thats what floats your boat), take a right tasty doris out for a slap up meal, buy a small mountain of top class columbian, get your legover, hire a jag, drive her home, have brekkie at the ritz and still have change for a day out on the piss with your mates. Maybe even have enough to have a session with the Monday club at your local too...
None of that has got anything to do with it. If someone is prepared to pay £28k for it today, how much will someone pay for 5, 10, 15 years time? It's a collectors/investment piece pure and simple - I don't believe that anyone seriously thinks that that bass is £27,500 better than a stock '08 Jazz. Still, I don't know where they plucked £28k from - seems a ridiculous number even for an ex-Ox instrument. Pluck
15. He's also selling the neck bolts - £35 BIN!! I might pop down to B&Q and do the same Pluck
16. One thing that I've found which has nothing to do with sound, is that lightweight Ash bodied bass 'reverberate' in your hands more than heavier woods - more so than Alder in limited experience. Burpsters Blazer which I've now got is Ash bodied and it feels positively alive when I play it - really feeds back which makes you want to 'really' play the thing. My Alder-bodied Jazz Sound feels leaden by comparison - although it still sounds wicked, and the weight is nice. Pluck
17. Looks too blond to be Oak? Even White Oak is more 'beige' than that. Pretty though. If it is Oak it'll probably be quite heavy. Pluck
18.
I can’t believe Andy Rourke hasn’t had a bigger mention. Amazing bass player. Some of the lines he came up with for The Smiths were fantastic; so melodic, intricate, technical, and musically sound all at the same time.
Andy Rourke is possibly the single most influential bass player on me personally, and no question that the guy could play - but is it not true that it was actually Jonny Marr that wrote most of his lines? Pluck
19. I found this one quite useful too. Still struggle to nail it consistently at full tilt though! http://www.youtube.com/v/OK2PhJm_eMg&hl=en&fs=1
20. Colin Hodgkinson OK I'll admit I've never heard of this dude before - so I looked at all the youtubes and it's clear that the guy is a serious musician - but (and I'm probably about to commit harikari) is it me or is he basically just a guitarist?! This thread is about about bassist's, right? Oh and happy new year to you all Pluck
21. Anyone mention Norman Watt-Roy? Also Bedders, for nostalgic reasons... Pluck
22.
How come he hasn't had a string of negs over the various past sales of this bass?
You wouldn't neg yourself would you?! Pluck
23.
This looks nice. Not cheap tho' what with shipping etc..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-RSB-800-...A1%7C240%3A1318
My finger's been hovering dangerously close to the trigger on that one for ages now - but it's just going to cost too much once you include shipping and tax. Gorgeous bass - love the headstock and I bet it plays too. Pluck
24. I'm amazed ( and annoyed, was hoping to pick it up cheap!) at how much this fetched, as a non-'name' piece of japcrap - especially as prices seem to be coming down a bit just now. It's probably worth it though, I have Westbury g****r and it's excellent by any standards. Pluck
