1. really was nice to have met you all, other people have said it more eloquently but a thanks to all who set this up, and everyone else who made the day a real nice place to hang out. by popular demand (it would seem) I will resist adding more Ampeg 10" speakers for now although it was nice to have somewhere where it could collectivley be properly cranked - I have fond memories of running Rickenbackers through it now have GAS for custom 5 string 4001's. see you all soon
2. snow looks like the Icing Sugar on top of a victoria sponge cake here in High Wycombe. Van Loaded, and just getting ready to move out. see you all in a couple of hours, Safe Travels Kraken
3.
I'm definately coming... Once i can find the postcode of the place it held in the thread!
Heh, Postcode is KT15 1TE and in Post Number 1
4.
it looks like I definitley can make this! I can bring, Basses 2 MIM passive Jazz V Basses (2001 and 2006) a Jazz V 24 Deluxe and my Jaguar Baritone Custom and my Ibanez 5 string acoustic and despite it being in a bad way I may bring my Epiphone EBM 5. Amp SVT 4 Pro and 610 HLF and my pedal board with whatever is on there at the time. if that interests anyone?
I'll bring all that plus my Mag 300 Head and Zoom RhytmTrack which I just managed to get a passable drum noise out of. I'll try and find one, but if anybody can lend me a 4 or 8 ohm cab for the ashdown to run the drum machine through? (I think I have a homebrew 2x10 somewhere) See you all tomorrow Weather, traffic, apocolypse permitting Edit: I also have a Behringer B100 Bass Limiter/Enhancer that can be added to Merton's Behringer Bass Chorus in the raffle if you like.
5. I can't run the bar, but I do have a Zoom Rhythmtrack 123 for the jam room that I should be able to bring (will dust it off tonight) might need someone to provide an amp for it though. (I might be able to use my ashdown mag300 if I can find a cab for it) be warned I don't really know how to use it. Edited for clarity
6. I'm late to the party but in on this, awesome tool
7.
I'm kind of of the opinion that on the whole, the world might be a slightly better place if more people had it explained to them when they were acting like a right twat.
Genius!

9. In my opinion you are looking for a 300 - 500 Watt Head with a 4x10 Cab or 2 2x10's. not necessarilly the easiest to cart around but if you end up playing gigs with other bands, being able to share a cab and everyone run their head through it will make you friends with sound engineers on tight stages.
10. found some Nowt in a box behind the sofa last night. I'll not miss it, what you got to trade?
11.
Or you can hail him by drawing a backwards Bass Clef on the front of your torch, then shine it up to the sky!
I may have to try this, only in desperate hour of need mind, but may still have to try this...

14. I follow him on twitter he is a genuine and articulate and intelligent person who one day I hope to be able to buy a drink for. you can find him on twitter as @SoloBassSteve and I recommend following him just to get a constant influx of ideas and info on stuff that he is doing.
15. I appreciate I am a few days late to this. I have an Ashdown Mag 300 H head that you can borrow as long as you are able to collect from High Wycombe (and return it too) as I'm not heading out Oxford way any time soon. drop me a PM if this is of interest.
16. Just recieved the MIM Jazz V from Ben, top quality seller here on BassChat, clear and prompt communicator, which I reckon resulted in no hitches in the transaction. also managed to get the bass to me before I went on Holiday and in a short time span, Awesome! thanks Barny
17. All Sorted mep is a top man! BTW mep I think I may be playing down your way next june, keep an eye out for Thinking For Tuesday and I will buy you a beer (or two)
18. if you would be willing to do that, that would be ace! will PM you my e-mail address.
19. Does anybody have the Bass Clef for 'Sweet Child Of Mine' by Guns N Roses? tried a search of here and a couple of the site linked to from here (fantastic work BTW to those of you who have these huge resources) i've been asked to learn it for a celebration and thought I'd use it as an excercise in improving my Reading. must have it really by December 2010.
20.
...As for TFT, awsome band...
I assume you meant TFF rather than TFT here? its funny that that stuck out for me as my Band is abbreviated as TFT. the best way of telling if it is the re-mastered copy of TEN or not is to ask yourself, 'is this on the shelf at HMV?' but I believe there is a (P) date that is 2000 and something or another. rather than 1992 (ish) from the original. <Blatant Plug> if you like Pear Jam, check out my band, you might like us as well</Blatant Plug>
21. I may be slightly odd in this, but to stop other strings ringing out in sympathy I tend to use my left hand to mute the strings I'm not playing on my 5's. but I don't play all songs with my fingers. that said if you are a fingers player this 'Floating Thumb Technique' (sounds like a secret Kung Fu strike ) is a pretty good one to get into anyway I find that (if it is what I think it is) it helps with consistency in my plucking hand.
22. Did I miss it? is there a way to pre-pay for attendance? I would like to attend, and generally speaking any gigs we are likely to have will be 'that way' from here, but as with all things it is worth confirming.
23. I'm after one of these to go with one I have already, just don't have £500 for it. best I can do for you is a quick BUMP to the top. good luck awesome bass!
24. I've owned my EBM 5 since the 1990's when I bought it new (one of the few blessings of the Student Loans Company) it was my first 5 string bass. I know it is the earlier version with all the tuning pegs facing down, later they switched to a 3 over 2 headstock. mine has been taken out of regular gigging abotu 2 years ago as it was starting to not get a sound I liked and I couldn't afford to get it overhauled. things have changed so before I get it overhauled I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about these basses or if there are any specific things I should know before spending money on it. any other infromation about them would be welcome also. thanks Kraken.
