1. I think it's a 310. I have one which is identical. What's the serial number? The first two digits will give the year of manufacture, at least for the Japanese ones.
 2.
Brand new and unused, have no use for it. £10 shipped? Its this one:
Hi Kev, I'll take it for £10 shipped if you've still got it - Paypal OK or would you prefer something more traditional? Kind regards, Pete
 3. I was wondering if anyone here in the London/Essex area has had any dealings with Yes Entertainments - www.yesentertainments.co.uk . My band is considering signing up with them. PM is fine if you prefer.
 4. At the risk of repeating the above mentioned thread, Parcel2go and all the parcelforce resellers have a limit of damage for a musical instrument between £150 and £200 and this can't be increased. I too have had a bad experience with Parcelmonkey and wouldn't recommend them for anything valuable. Unfortunately when things go wrong, there is no organ grinder, just the monkey.
 5.
godDAMN it, I just spent my pedal money on a seek trem, for £215 this is a bargain
£350 Euros is £300 near as makes no difference at current exchange rate. Not sure where you get £215 from.
 6. Slight plug for my G&L Tribute 2500 in the 'for sale' forum, which has a narrow neck and 16mm string spacing
 7.
Royal Mail Special Delivery next day has an insurance limit of £2500 (and no hidden restrictions on musical instruments that I can find - of course they may be very well hidden ....)
Size limits of 600mm x 480mm x 480mm ? Might be OK if you removed the neck, but not ideal for neck-through designs!
 8.
Yeha, definitly looking for something that isn't heavy. I say I'm after Full Range because I'm not bothered about the 'sound' of different size speakers...if that even exists (Alex says it doesn't )...I just want a cab that will give a full sound regardless of speakers.
Have you thought about a 2 x 12? Very happy with my EBS Neo, gives a very full sound and is an easy one-hand lift - 24 Kg.
 9.
I am totally new to bass guitars having previously been a drummer and saxophonist. I have had a long standing ambition to learn to play the bass and a friend of mine is a bass teacher. I am therefore in the market for a new guitar and I have decided upon a 5 string. I do fancy an American Fender Jazz 5 string, but availability is virtually non existent until October. I had also been looking at the Music Man Sterling 5 string, but that has a waiting time of 3 months to get the finish I want. Lastly, amplification for the bass. With me wanting a 5 string I am told that the low b string is in the region of 30 hz, so I will be needing a practice amp that will be able to handle the lower frequency. Thanks for any advice.
Seems like a lot of money to spend on an instrument when you don't actually know that you're going to stick with it. You stand to lose a serious amount on resale. I think you might be better off to check out the second-hand forums on this site and bide your time a bit - there's a lot of really good gear for sale second hand at the moment, for silly prices.
 10.
HI there - is this guitar still available - I'm just south of Cambridge and it's just what I'm looking for! cheers! Pete Smith
Yes it is. You have PM!
 11.
roost never had partridge transformers, they had some wound to the same specs but they wern't partridge.
This one seems to. http://www.andy-duke.co.uk/roost/sessionmasterguts.html And a quotation from Terry Bateman, who worked for Roost, on the Champ electronics site: The reason I remember this is because Roost used Partridge in the early days and changed to Electro-Voice about the time Sound City did (1975/6..??) - well Sound City were only across the town from Roost and there was a "flow" of parts to and fro between the two factories - ah what great days they were back then. I've also seen Electro-Voice transformers used in the Sterns Mullard 5-10 and 3-3 amplifier kits.
 12. One of Brian Roost's finest by the looks of it. Some design similarities with Hiwatt and Sound City, and probably Partridge transformers. I've played through one of these and it was very very good. 13.
I dunno, You wait all year for a Dave Pegg 62 P bass to come along and then ... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=842073
Well I looked. Is it any wonder I didn't spot the previous thread, with a title like that? Sheesh.
 14. Now here's something you don't see every day. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1962-FENDER-PRECISIO...=item45f2f9889b
 15. I have a Korg G5 for sale. I bought it because I couldn't get either the Digitech BSW or the Behringer SYB-5 clone to work for me - the Behringer wouldn't track and the BSW was a great octave pedal but almost unuseable as a synth.
 16.
I'm happy to hand it off to you after I'm done, if that meets with Alex's approval. I'm often over in Bury/Newmarket, so can meet there if more convenient
OK, you're 16th on the list, so assuming that no-one else inserts their name ahead of yours in the meantime, you should get it around January/February 2011.
 17.
Cheers Alex Looking forward to trying the cab out when it gets here! On a related note, if there's anyone else in the Cambridge area who fancies meeting up at any point to have a noodle and chat about basses, then PM me! HTH, Ian
Yes, count me in. It's the closest it's likely to get to Suffolk. I waited 6 months last time after it was routed the opposite way round the country and it got recalled before it made it this far. Cambridge mini-bash?
 18. Thanks Steve, this has really made basschatting a lot easier.
 19. I'd always understood the 'Jazz Growl' to be what happens when you have both pickups full-on - because the pickups are out of phase this results in a mid-range scoop.
 20.
I saw Rocco Prestia playing a Precision with the PUPs reversed, that is, the top PUP (E and A strings) was closer to the bridge than the other. I assume this would make the A and E strings slightly tighter sounding whilst having the opposite effect on the D and G? Any thoughts/experience of this?
I have a BB800 with the PUP reversed and it doesn't make any appreciable difference.
 21.
No, and the laws of physics say otherwise. The tension increases when the length of string that is under tension is increased, not the 'speaking' length of the string. Hence string-thru-body does have a small increase in tension, and basses with separate tailpieces might also have similar.
Are you certain about this? My recollection of the laws of physics, or at least the laws of applied mechanics, is that the tension in a string depends purely upon the force applied, and is independent of the length of string. Tension is also constant when it passes over a smooth pulley, in this case the string saddle or the nut. String-through doesn't increase the tension, but it is likely to increase the downward force on the saddle because the angle of string is generally steeper with string-through.
