1.
Markbass CMD121P combos can be found second hand for £500, and there's a 121H for sale (slightly taller but better sounding) in the classifieds right now for £500. It's basically the much raved about Markbass LMII head in an amazingly light and loud combo. Highly recommended, although much less dirty and coloured sound than what you're used to getting from the Ashdown I imagine. But you can always dirty up a clean amp with a pedal like the VT Bass!
That'd be my CMD 121H for sale here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42640 Please don't be put off by my mention of cosmetic issues. They really are only minor which I mentioned to be as honest as possible. Oh, it fits in my Yaris with space for all my other gear (2x basses in hard cases, 1x12 extension cab, pedalboard, couple of 4U rack cases, stands etc.) no problem.
2. Here's a pic of the aftermath of a Low G# snapping.
3. Now reduced to £500.
4. Ayns bought my Marcus Miller Jazz. A no hassle deal and a top chap. Cheers Ayns!
5. A free pint for Basschatters type bump.
6. Maybe they'll last as long as a set of decent non coated strings now. Yep, I'm a confirmed Roto hater. I seem able to kill a set in minutes.
7. Buy something second hand. You'll get something much better for your £300 that way. If you'd rather not buy secondhand (or are finding it hard because you're a lefty) , you'd do a lot worse than this for the money: http://www.dv247.com/invt/40759/ or this (matching headstock version of above): http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=1615
8. Would also trade for Aguilar DB112 plus cash my way.
9. I <3 my Godlyke Disciple 5. Well built, versatile, beautiful and soooo playable. Good luck with the sale.
10. U2? What's that all about then?
11. Met Nick to sell my Markbass 1x12. No nonsense deal and a top chap. Pity didn't get to have a chat. Next time, eh? Cheers Nick! Have fun with your Markbass collection!
12. APC have a PDF re VA and Watts here: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SADE-5TNQYF_R0_EN.pdf
13.
There are no industry standard settings for these noise limiters. Limiters are a known way of limiting the level of reproduced sound in entertainment venues, etc. and as such they appear in the 'good practice' guidance. But as, in the context of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, it is for the employer in any particular venue to decide on appropriate means to reduce the noise exposure of employees to as low as reasonably practicable, so it is for the employer to decide whether to use such devices, and how to set them up in practice. In the draft 'good practice' it is noted that limiters which cut the power abruptly are not recommended. I would hope that any venue operators would be happy to discuss the use of limiters with you, and take up your offer of helping to set them up. I will let you in on a little secret which will let you "over ride" any such sound limiter device, for a cost of about £60.00. If you google "APC BE-550 UPS" you will find a small UPS (uninterrupted power supply) which is basically a battery back up for all your equipment. Once fully charged, you plug all your gear into one of its 6x 13a sockets, then plug the UPS into the mains at the gig where the limiter is. The result? You play too loud (or hit the random frequency that knocks the power out), and the UPS takes over for up to about fifteen minutes - plenty of time for the limiter to reset itself and give you the chance to knacker your equipment all over again. Try the following link for a distributor: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....p;...(BE550-UK) All cut & pasted from here.
Good idea except the one in the link can only supply 550W Total. Not much use for anything but the smallest of bands. I suspect the person who posted the link on the pubgigs forum has never actually used one. EDIT: According to APC, their small UPS's can only supply around 60% of their VA rating. So in this case around 330W.

15. Crikey! Just bought an MTD otherwise I'd be on the M6 as we speak. There's an outside chance I could rustle up the cash but I bet it sells before then. Good luck (not that you'll need it!)

20. My MTD for sale would fit the bill. 35" scale so good for down tuning, 24 frets, 5 string, active/passive switch. Quite a warm sounding bass with the Bartolini eq and switchable mid frequencies. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42039
21.
Might be worth dropping detune jazz a PM. He was asking about mine last week. Good luck.
I've already been in touch. Thanks for the heads up. Still available.
