1.
'North of the Isle of Wight, South of Keswick' is perhaps a bit vague to someone (i.e. me) who has a friend who might be interested...
You're quite right it is a bit vague. I really thought that the location was stated in the ad. It should have been but this time I failed to include it. Anyway it's Hoddesdon. Herts. Original post has now been edited.
2.
Y'know, I almost prefer the days when Eden manuals used to talk about the "magic smoke". It was easier to understand, and more consistent.
I don't need to or particularly want to understand. Let Alex do his thing and if I want it, I'll hand over the dosh and just enjoy.
3. Any replacement nut is going to need some fettling, certainly with respect to the string slots. I like the Graphtec nuts. Nothing wrong with brass, other than a little more difficult to file the slots.
4. Hope you get sorted
5.
Here's one of my faves, 100% stock, very fine condition, 1961 Custom Colour Olympic White, stack knob Jazz. Comes with case, mutes, and all the original case candy, stack knob paperwork, even a spare set of unused strings! http://
Just fallen in love with Jazz basses all over again
6.
Thank you sir, Do you have anybody in mind that could perform such genius? I live in Swindon. Kind regards,
I don't know anyone in that neck of the woods, sorry. Check out the pinned post about BC'ers willing to help out.
7. What Ped said. The truss rod unless well out of kilter, won't have much bearing on that part of the neck. Assuming that the nut is ok and you have the correct relief in the neck, then it might well be fret wear. Quite often a graduated leveling is required down that end or it maybe as simple as just one or two slightly higher frets.
8.
Now that is a really nice looking Strat - have a bump on me .
A thanks type bump
9. My daughter had one of those at around the same sort of weight, had to sell in the end, as even with a comfort strap it was just too heavy. Sounded great though with a set of wizards.
10. Hope it's a great day for you all Will look forward to seeing the photos and blog from Silv
11. Excellent collection and a great photo
12. re opened as requested.
13.
Tasty. I loves me a Strat. Brown tort guard, mebbe?
I was considering a change of guard but actually a change of circumstance has led me to put it up for sale on here.
14. Black Strat body, decent quality. Very recently purchased for a planned winter project but the Squier neck that I have doesn't fit. In good, used condition. Complete with output socket and strap buttons. There are a couple of dings that have been touched in by a previous owner, this has been done quite well and unless you really look, they don't show. Difficult to photograph but I've tried. This was sold to me as a Squier but given that the neck pocket is around 58 mm wide, I'm not so sure. Maybe some models had a wider pocket, or perhaps a past owner has altered it. Anyway, please keep in mind that if you want to fit a standard Fender or Squier neck, unless you install some veneer shims, there will be a gap. £25 NOW ONLY £20 collected from my place in Herts. If you need it posted the courier charge will be £15.99.
15.
Ooh I like the look of that, have a bump
Thanks Time for my bump.
16. There are a whole load of artists I could list but that doesn't mean they are overrated, just that they don't appeal to me. So, for that reason I'm out.
17.
Does this have the v neck profile?
Yes it does. Fender actually describe it as a soft v neck profile.
18.
Bridge is back, neck is front
Nothing else to add, Lozz has brought this thread to an end
19. I only very recently purchased this after quite a lengthy search for the right one. It is a great instrument but a change in circumstance means that I have decided to stick with my lesser valued G&L. I suspect that this could be one that I end up regretting selling, so I reserve the right to change my mind. I've worked on plenty of U.S. Strats and I honestly think that this guitar is the equal and better than many of them. The neck and fretwork is exceptionally good. Weight is 8lb. Anyway, here is the spec: U.S.A. Custom Shop Designed, built in Mexico 2010-11 Stratocaster. Finished in Shoreline Gold, which is in as new condition. All hardware and truss rod function perfectly. Set up properly and fitted with a brand new set of Fender 10's. Locking vintage style tuners. American Pickups. Vintage style saddles. Aged white control knobs. Deluxe gig bag, owners manual and hang tags etc. PRICE DROPPED TO £575. Will consider a trade for a good Telecaster. Ideally cash on collection from my place in Herts. Bank Transfer or Pay Pal also acceptable (buyer to cover the fees). As I don't have a hard case, I would prefer collection. If posting is required then the courier charge will be an additional £16. I will probably opt for removing the neck and bubble wrapping everything, prior to boxing up but we can of course, discuss options. More pics available, I'm happy to email them.
20. Heating as advised by Kodiakblair can work well. I would advise against using water though, I managed to ruin a guard doing just that. A hair dryer is what I use these days.
