1. If they'd do a Jaguar-style bass, I'd be buying one right now.
 2. I cecently looked at Ditto X2 by TC Electronic. That looks very promising. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58T4yGJ4J4Y
 3. Unfortunately, in Polish pawn shops they usually only have cr*ppy, finger-hurting basses made by Chinese corporations I need to take a serious pawn shop stroll, though, maybe I'll get lucky
 4. I usually play with only one (index) finger too and often use the middle finger only to mute the strings. And I play much faster with one finger than with two! But I can play with two, I just find using one finger more comfy. If a master like James Jamerson was playing skillfully with one finger, a peon like me can do it too.
 5.
Geezer started out playing a Precision on the first three albums (...)
Oooh, so THAT'S WHY I love those most
 6.
Looks like an early Wal to me... At least from the screen grab at the top.
+1 from me, especially considering the deep and rich sound of the bass - it really sounds Wal-ish. EDIT: Looks similar, if not identical: + Link to another burst WAL bass. And from Basschat, actually!
 7. Why bother, it's "Top of the Pops", so it's playback Seriosuly, though, here it is in the best resolution possible. http://www.incognito.org.uk/gallery/IncognitoMusicians/Paul__quot_Tubbs_quot__Williams.jpg
 8. Simply. Awesome.
 9. The groove. You can listen to it continuously, your head and/or feet are moving and the song simply dies when the bass is silenced.
 10.
You know, Immo, this thread is pointless without SOUNDS… when can we hear some sampleses?
We had a little jam at our workplace (perks of having an recording room) and while I was gone, my colleague recorded the bass. Plugged into audio interface, picked, both PUs at full, tone fully open. Strung with GHS Precision Flatwounds.
 11.
I never remember a conversation about the weather... Even Flea can't pull that one off!
12.
COULD being the operative word I was at that RHCP gig... they aren't a very serious band so it works nicely.
So you should remember that Flea actually DID a weather talk
 13. Due to the fact I only play EADG 4-stringer softly, I've also been told I'm not a bass player (which actually I ain't, but purely for lack of skill reasons).
 14. I used Fender Nylon Tapewounds. Astonished by the effect at first, but later I started to hear a plastic-like fret noise. I guess they're great on fretless bass, but on fretted P they had that squeak that irritated the hell out of me, on the "organic" level, sort of like smacking. By the way, I use Rotosound 88 TruBass tapewounds and they don't have that issue at all!
 15. Never played to any audience, but I'd certainly talk to them if I had a chance. Being quite shy at first, probably I'd start with something cheesy like a weather talk, but it always could turn into a nice laugh, right? I'd try to say something funny, in general. Not a big absorbing stopper, but just a few seconds of giggle. I also love the idea of sign along, especially when the songs are not the band's, but rather they're something widely popular (or maybe even anthems; Flea did that on RHCP's concert at Slane Castle in Ireland, 2003; after the anthem, he talked to audience about his grandmother, who was Irish).
 16. I successfully gigged with guitar Vox Pathfinder. Guitarist had combo of exact same model and the drummer had a full set of drums two meters away and we still played nicely. So I guess I ain't an objective person
 17.
I am doing a PMM one but it dosnt look Pritty I hope i got the MM in the correct place but i would like some thing to Cover the MESS i made with Chopping out the hole :'(
Buy some raw pickguard material and create a pickguard of whatever shape you like
 18.
There is one more thing I do on my wiring: I put a .01 capacitor inline from the hot lead of the bridge pickup to its volume pot. This cuts a little bit of low end, which isn't there anyway on a bridge position pickup, and a tad of volume, hence using a "hot" pickup like the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz, and cures the impedance volume drop with both pickups full on.
I did similar thing - I "treble bled" the neck PU's VOL pot, it did similar thing
 19.
My favorite bass is probably the bass I haven't bought/built yet.

Best answer ever! XD
And worst at the same time... Oh, the G.A.S.
 20. Tried many basses, but the good old P seema to do the right trick for me. For me, P-Bass of any simple variant (51 P-Bass, P-Bass, Telecaster Bass I & Telecaster Bass II, TNB-110 SP, PP-Bass, Boxer Bass, Big Block P-Bass) is the right thing... Sound is straightforward, no-nonsense instrument with perfect comfort of using More sophisticated ones (Precision Hollowbody A∕E, Elite P-Bass etc) are also cool.
 21.
I can vouch for the dual split-pickup configuration - used together they just roar!
They roar indeed
 22.
Fender already made a three pickup bass, the urge bass
Of course they had, but it has a predefined set of pickups meant to work together. I'm sceptic about the mismatched sets of 3+ pickups, that's all.
 23.
Not too sure whether I'd call him a 'star', it's the first I've heard of the guy and whilst he's got impressive technique he's not actually doing anything new at all, just rehashing the same slap thing that's been repeated over and over. The advice isn't terrible either, I don't know how it was delivered but if it was with a sincerity then I actually think it's great advice.
It was delivered in a patronizing way, or at least my buddy described it as such. And to a guy he just met for the first time and never heard his playing... I called him a "star" deliberately.
 24.
Anyone remember him at bass day a good few years ago? Incredible playing and a really nice guy into the bargain. Sometime after that we met some polish bassists at a Stanley Clarke gig at the Jazz cafe and they weren't that enamoured with mr P at all. Seems everyone has their own taste. i liked him
My buddy once was on something like Polish NAMM and found Pilichowski. He was teaching some people about playing the bass. My buddy - then already 5 years into playing - never played in front of Pilichowski. But he asked him about some more advanced technique. What was the star's answer? "Kiddo, kiddo... First learn to play correct and then, after all those years, you may start to think about this sort of things." Not the nicest answer to a person whose playing you never had listened to, if you'd ask me. Besides, there are many witnesses who say he considers his technique the only reasonable, good and efficient and tries to force it upon others.
 25. Hayden Lil' Mofo 2 to be used as a preamp and driver.
