1. Snarky Puppy - see what this Michael League fella's about.
2. Musicman Bongo 5HS in Carbon Blue Pearl. Excellent condition with only a few very minor blemishes that you need to go looking for. Plays fantastically well and sounds great. Near cash offers considered. REDUCED to £950
3. I found the new Hartke 12" kickback seriously under-powered when next to a real drum kit. I think the cab was just too small, maybe the 15" would work better.
4. Bump! If you have cash I'm open to near offers.
5. Musicman Bongo 5HS in Cobalt Blue Pearl. Excellent condition - a few very minor blemishes but you have to go looking for them. 34" scale, 17.5mm bridge spacing. Complete with original Musicman case. Would consider trade for mid to high-end Jazz-style 5er, 34" / 19mm spacing only. Located Newcastle.
6. Did they fix the tuner not working on bass?
7. I had a little go on the Elf through the 2x8 cab at the London Bass Guitar Show. Seemed pretty good. Nice tone through that cab but hard to tell too much in that noisy environment. It is really small and feels 'solid' weight-wise. There's a cooling-fan port on the top. No speakon-out, only one 1/4" jack which struck me as a brave decision these days.
8. I wonder how it compares to the GK MB200. Pretty close in price.
9.
Just got a good 4GB/month SIM-only deal from Tesco for £11 per month...
Could've saved a quid! https://www.plusnetmobile.com/
10. Pair of HHb Circle 5 passive studio monitors in excellent condition. Lovely detailed sound. Collect or meet near Newcastle, or arrange own courier.
11. Markbass with a Tech 21 VT pedal in front would work very nicely!
12. A recent pedal board build - fairly compact but very flexible.
13. I've gone for a Mark Bass 102P combo now. Twice the price - twice the quality? Stay tuned...
14. They seem to make a thing about how you can only hear through bone conduction when you have them in - that's roughly what you get when you stick your fingers in your ears. No thanks!
15. Oh dear, this was a gamble that didn't pay off unfortunately. Last night's gig was a wedding do in a reverberant room. I was stood next to the drummer as usual. Unfortunately the KB12 just couldn't keep up and I was struggling to hear myself all night. I was wondering if I was standing in some kind of dead spot as there was a wall behind me, but I tried moving around a bit to no avail. Darn it. Looks like I should be able to return it and I'm only down the cost of shipping. Be aware, this is not a loud amp though it sounds great at low volumes.
16.
Indeed! My secret weapon on bass for nearly 20 years!
Shhh!
17. +1 on the Spectracomp. Ultimate flexibility including 'New York' style parallel compression.
18. You can't beat the original Boss OC2 for me. Yes the tracking can be dodgy and it warbles now and then, but that's part of the charm. Just sounds so good!
19. I bought Mark's Super Booster pedal after posting a wanted ad. Easy comms, reasonable price, delivered quickly and item in great condition. Thanks!
20. Not boxy, but inevitably a little more lower-middy compared to the deep thunder of the S12T. Still a full sound though. Of course the room had a lot to do with it too, so I'm not going to draw too many conclusions from the one gig. I have a full 9-piece band gig a week on Saturday when I'll be using it in 'monitor' mode beside a drum kit. I usually run my Mark Bass SA450 flat with just a tad of VPF and VLE, so I've managed to buy a secondhand Super Booster pedal which has the VPF/VLE filters built-in. I'm going to run the DI to the PA from that and of course also into the Hartke. That makes for a super-flexible rig as I can use the Hartke EQ to adjust my on-stage sound independently of the FOH for maximum clarity (not that you have a choice with it being a pre-eq DI). I still have the VT in my chain for dirt on appropriate numbers too. Gonna need a bigger pedal-board though!
21. Well, that was fine. I barely had the volume on 1 and it was filling the room. Overall tone was full and rounded. Super-portable, minimal hassle, no regrets!
22. Rare SWR Monitor 12 bass cab. In my opinion a great solution for small stages with PA support, this 250 watt / 8 ohm cab will sit at your feet and let you actually hear what you're playing as opposed to blowing at the back of your legs. It has a Bag End 12" driver and LeSon piezo tweeter with adjustable level. There is also a retro-fitted attenuator for the main signal (though I've only ever used it fully open). 1/4" jack inputs (only one seems to be connected) and also some unidentified inputs I've never used (see pic). Covering is rat-fur in good condition. Easy one-handed carry, not "modern" lightweight but not bad either. Located Newcastle. Pick-up preferred or possible meet depending on distance etc. Courier at your expense.
